  1. The Zoom fluke is an awesome bait to learn with! Texas rig that bag boy and hang on. I learned on a spinning reel and would throw a Fluke Jr. with a 1/32 bullet weight on it. You can't go wrong with pearl color. Check out Glenn May (bassresource) on youtube. You will learn enough to get you started.
  2. If the bass are busting a school of shad and breaking the surface throw a walking stick bait. I use a Sexy Dawg in sexy shad color and have had great luck.
  3. Snag Proof Pro Series Tournament Frog is hot garbage. Casts terrible, lands upside down, doesn't right itself, and has no action. I was severely disappointed. All the other stuff I've fished from them is top quality but DON"T GET THIS FROG!!!!!!!!!! that is all....
  4. I'm looking at the Helix 7 for next season......... I've probably visited the TW website 1000 times to look at it. I've also recently become terribly addicted to skipping a jig under boat docks and I'm in a quest to find the jig/trailer that skips the best. I LOVE BASS FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is all...
  5. KVD Sexy Frog and Ish Phat Frog are my favorites. The Sexy Frog was my first real confidence bait. Try black or white in color.
  6. Keep at it. One day you will go out and catch two or three and it will all come together for you. It's incredibly addicting! Good luck
  7. Found this girl under a dock this morning!
  8. I put in at the public ramp near the dam and fishing dock. I spent Sunday morning and early afternoon at Chesdin................. I was embarrassed yet again by this beautiful lake. I flipped grass, cranked offshore and threw a spinner bait under docks. NOTHING WORKED! I saw two chase the bait to the boat but no real bites. I think I should have spent more time on the shady side of the creeks. More to follow!
  9. I'm getting that feeling from the lake too. I'm fishing it tomorrow morning... I'll let you know how I do.
  10. No worries. I've been skunked on Kentucky Lake plenty of times. I still haven't figured out the ledges either. I wish you the best of luck next time you're on the water.
  11. Good! Let me know how it goes.... I hope you find 'em
  12. I had a blast at Gaston this weekend. Found a school hammering some shad and caught a bunch throwing the ole' Sexy Dawg. All but one was a spotted bass. Nothing beats a topwater bite!
  13. I finally got one today.... Flipping the grass line. I should have kept that up all day but I was lured off shore by a few schools of bait fish. More to follow!
  14. Frog fishing is addicting...... You will never be the same after your first one! Good luck!
  15. Take a look at Birdsong Creek on the southern end of the lake. Its a major creek arm that should be safe for your boat. I caught a nice 4 pounder in there. When you get hungry for lunch they have a amazing buffet at the marina. Best fried catfish I've ever had. Good Luck! Also, I almost forgot, try Bennett Creek if you can get there. It's FULL OF GRASS! I hade some really good frogging action in there a few weeks ago.
  16. Sam!!! Thanks for the awesome info. I'll give you a call tomorrow about the club. I'm waiting on final approval from my boss for the go ahead. Needless to say, I'm excited about the prospect. On another great note, I finally made it to Lake Gaston today and I caught my personal best in Pretty Creek. She slammed a Snag Proof Frog in some Hydrilla. Lake Gaston is a great lake. The boaters do get out of control come around 1200 though. All in all a great day on the water. Thanks to all for the info once again!
  17. Well... I finally made it to Lake Chesdin today. Got SKUNKED! The whole lake looks bassy. I was throwing a square bill and frog around grass points. I also tried a DD22 on rocky drop offs. I've got some work to do..... The lake is freaking beautiful though. It was nice riding around all day even though I didn't catch anything. One quick question.... What is the furthest west you will fish? I don't want to get caught by and obstruction under the water and damage my boat. Thanks!
  18. I fished Chesdin today for the first time. I was mostly looking around but I threw a frog and a square bill around the grass line and lily pads. I also tried throwing a DD22 around steep rocky points but to no avail.... The whole lake looks "bassy", I've definitely got a lot of work to do to find the big ones.
  19. These reels all look great to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. ^ This. But I would go with the Abu Garcia reel for sure.. Great advice from these gentlemen..........
  21. ^ This is exactly what you need on your first BC reel.
  22. ^This...... I've been impressed with the Veritas line form Abu. Can't go wrong in my opinion.........................
  23. I'm stationed at Fort Knox..... Love me some Rough River and Nolin Lake! Where you guys finding em right now?
  24. I'm not a shaky head guy so I can't speak on that topic.... However, I do love me some Revenge flip jigs and football jigs. Craw and brown colors and put a Rage Tail menace grub on as the trailer. As far as crankbaits go, you can't go wrong with 6th Sense cranks. They are quality out of the box and come in great colors. Happy hunting!
  25. KVD Sexy Frog Ish Phat Frog Black or white in color. The Sexy Frog was my first real confidence bait. You should get a couple.
