  1. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SPLIT.html?from=basres Have a look......
  2. The Rage twin tail menace grub has great action. I use those and Rage Craws the most I want to give these a try.... They look aswsome!
  3. Go with Falcon! The Originals or BuCoo series. 100$ and made in America with Fuji guides. Best rods for the money.
  4. BuCoos are great rods and you stole them!!!! Great find. Extremely light and sensitive rods. I've got the 6'6'' and 7'6'' mediums. They are both great for crankbaits.
  5. Smokes are awesome! Extremely light and solid construction. I love mine. Highly recommend them.
  6. Rod: 6'6'' Falcon Original Reel: Abu Garcia Revo S That was my first combo and I could throw a little of everything. I learned a ton of techniques that way.
  7. Few people actually "Need" a rod over 7ft for anything. I'd look at what fits YOU. Taller guys tend to like longer rods. I'm an average Joe and my flippin rod is a Falcon Cara Head Truner 6'11' heavy with fast action. Its perfect for me and its bullet proof. I flipped with a 6'6'' MH Falcon Original for years before I got the Cara. Its still one of my favorites for lighter jigs too. Just sayin, unless you are fishing something over 3/4oz or punching extremely thick vegetation I'd go with an all around rod so I could still throw spinners and worms on it.
  8. I'd throw a bigger bait after you get your limit. Probably a big jig.
  9. I'm fishing it Friday and Saturday. Any info on where to start would be great. The water is supposedly muddy and in the mid 55s. Are the big girls catchable? Are they still relating to shad?
  10. Falcon Cara series are amazing. The Deep Runner and Composite Cranker are incredible for deep divers and lipless cranks respectively. The Head turner is great for jigs and frogs. I've also got the Amistad which I love for top waters and jigs. cara-t7.pdf
  11. Is that a 189 VLO in the background?????????
  12. Go get an American made Falcon Original on TW..... You will not be disappointed.
  13. Navionics has a free web app that will help you plan your trips to the lake as well. I use it every time I plan trip to find the depth and structure I want to target.
  14. If Charlie Brown was an angler he would throw squarebills!
  15. Ha!! I just got back from Chesdin about thirty minutes ago. I have never seen so many shad busting the surface in my life! I didn't get a single bite.... It was still a beautiful day though. Beats a day at the office for sure. How long is the water going to stay so muddy? Any guess?
  16. I'm a red label guy...... Its really good up to 15lbs. After that its too rigid and doesn't cast as well.
  17. Falcon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is all......
  18. Falcon Cara T7 Reaction Cast 7'3" Med Hvy "Deep Cranker" This is my all time favorite cranking rod. It will throw 3/8 oz plugs as well a 1 oz deep divers with ease. You cannot go wrong with this rod. It's also great for lipless cranks and spinner baits.
  19. Get on ebay and bid on quamtum EXO reels. You can save 150$ on a 300$ reel. Just sayin...
  20. I'm in central VA, I've been doing really well with a ratl-trap also. Water temps are still in the upper 50's most days.
  21. I fish a lake in Virginia that gets muddy very easily. No big deal, lots of lakes are like that. I've been having great success (For me) fishing creek flats with a ratl-trap when there are bait fish present in the area, but when the water isn't clear the bite shuts off. What I've heard so far is to switch to a jig and start flipping/pitching. What are your thoughts and experiences for muddy water fishing? switch to a jig or find another lake? Thanks!
  22. Been having some luck lately on Chesdin. As long as I can find semi-clear water I've been able to get some decent bites.
