  1. Just went to the outdoors show here in MN, and it was horrible. Yeah I love to look at the new boats, but there are so many places selling fly aways. It use to be you went and seen boats, say a pro or two, and the vendors were everywhere. I love there is always this one vendor that clearance cranks for 1/3 of the price. But there display got cut down for more boat and trailer displays. I guess I will wait until the sportsman show come. I know it is more geared towards fishing. And we have a musky expo in April. Last time at the expo Abu Garcia was cleaning your reel and upgrading the bearings for free... as long as it was an Abu.
  2. I love spoons when going for northern and musky. I will fish a 3/4 to 1oz (Dare or other brand in Claus red white or silver chartreuse).I like to top water fish them in the shallow sections on a slow retrieve. The spoon with methodically roll side to side and present a nice presentation. I have gotten 30+ in northerns doing it this way, but this works for me on my specific lake I fish. Other lakes it might not be the same. I normally don't fish deeper than 6 to 10ft.
  3. The price was part of it. I wanted good spinners, cheap.. But in the end seeing the result I feel that price went out the window, and pride took over. Sure this is probably one of the easiest starting points (starting with inlined), but it is a start.
  4. So I posted a coupe days ago where is the savings in tackle making. Well I found it. I went to the local shop, plus some online shopping and have gotten my cost down to under $5 a spinner after the first 5. I should be able to make a handful more for under $3 now. But I have to give credit to you crafters and fly makers out there. While this was only my first spinner made, and there was a lot to learn.I know I need to make my skirt lower. I know I need to invest in a bobbin holder. A vise would be nice. And that tool to create a knot would be great! But I feel accomplished, and proud that my lure should catch something, and if not I will learn more. I will post a pic as soon as I get off my phone and on my pc.
  5. I think I have it good. I have a wife that doesn't have a shoe fetish, shopping problem. All she ask for is to get her hair done twice a year. She tolerates my fishing addiction, and lets me shop for gear as needed. However, she doesn't know about my fishing fund account yet and her tolerance could go out the window with that knowledge.
  6. That is what I am pondering. I have a bunch of drop shot gear picked out, but I went to the local tackle shop this morning, and picked it a bunch of tackle making gear.
  7. I was looking at purple, shad, and green colors
  8. But how many out there use a creature bait versus a worm m do they notice considerable difference?
  9. I think is always great to get input from other angles. I was going to buy a bunch of robo's (because it seems like a lot of people stick by them), but I love to get others insight.
  10. In your opinions what makes your soft plastic dropshot worthy/deadly, and what do you use on your hooks
  11. Maybe the tackle can be used as a counter balance help plane out? Problem solved.
  12. So far I am loving the maddog, but I guess that is a wake bait, I have pick up and waiting to test the bbz in 4 & 6 in and recently got an S-Waver myself. I have heard great things about Mattlures and have watched several videos of the basis in action, but have yet to get my hands on one.
  13. Too much but not enough. I think last year under $1,000 in all including gas for the boat. This year though.. So far I'm at over $700 and the season isn't close to starting.
  14. I call that having options options! Lol
  15. The R2S S-Waver in Why not color... Excellent! It looked good online, but in person it is even better. And the Sahhimi in color changing Bass. Beyond my expectations!
  16. ITS HERE! ITS HERE! Now I have to wait another 5 hours to get off work. That and I still have about $60 worth on back order, but on the plus side I think I am just going to call them and have them replace one item with another in stock. Plus I am going to add another order.
  17. I always stick to white, and blue gill/ bass colors. Never hurts to stick to natural occurring species. So shad, sucker, bluegill, perch, and so on.
  18. I now question the validity of the original post... Lol
  19. Post your spoils! Nothing better than window shopping. I know I might put in another order so it is speed the same time add my back order. I realised I need to get some drop shot gear.
  20. Oh I do love it. I will admit I screech like a little school girl when I get the text that my TW order was revived. I than promptly call my wife to verify, and threaten her not to open it. (Messing with my tackle our fishing great is a cause of a divorce... Lol)
  21. After a very.. And I mean very drunk night in Vegas.. I can say this is not always true.
  22. Same here. It says my order from TW has been in cali for the past two days but will be in MN on time tomorrow. Better be, how toy with my emotions.
  23. I think for what I am looking for I probably want a club, and thank you so far for everyone breaking it down. I think it's not about the competition, but the learning experience. And sure I might get that from a tournament, but I think I would get more out of it from a club. Any other insights?
