  1. I'll say that I never had a lot of luck with hollow body frogs. Caught a lot on Ragetail Toads either on the retrieve or letting it sink. Made a homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog from a Spro hollowbody and killed it last year. If I was going to do frogs I'd try either the new Booyah Toadrunner or make your own Teckels. For me the tail just added so many more bites.
  2. I have a goal of catching 1 musky and then never catching one again. It's just a bucket list thing. I don't like slimy, smelly northern pike or musky in my boat and dealing with them. But I do want to catch 1 musky. I don't want to buy an entire new rod to catch 1 fish. So, if I lighten the drag and play the fish smartly (safely for the fish too) I shouldn't have any problem landing the musky and not breaking my bass frog rod, no? It's a Cabelas Tournament ZX Frog rod, heavy, apparently they don't sell it anymore.
  3. I'd stay away from the Sprinker Teckel Frog. I got a few blow ups and only got a pike to eat it. Caught a lot more on the homemade one. If you want to try a Weedless Whopper Plopper you might want to make your own or try the new Booyah Toadrunner.
  4. I made a Homemade one using Spro and Booyah Pad Crasher with a 3 way swivel and an actual Sprinker Teckel Frog replacement tail which uses a CPS Twistlock Spring. It worked awesome. I can't wait to try the new Booyah Toad Runner this year to replace my homemade Sprinker frog and hopefully the Whopper Ploppers will keep killin' it.
  5. I know Glen likes them. I bought one and didn’t like it. Felt too heavy. Will keep using the Terminators.
  6. I use 30lbs braid on my Revo Rocket for all of the size Whopper Ploppers. I dont throw one on a spinning rod. But if i did it would only be the 90 and I use 10lbs braid.
  7. What are the benefits of this over a Zoom Superfluke?
  8. Perhaps. We caught some big ones on the Whoppe Ploppers last year and they are run pretty fast.
  9. I think I saw using the CPS twistlock on the Fluke nose-hooking it ...however after tossing 2 of them right off the hook I now use that little bit of shrink tube to keep the CPS twistlock on the hook. I think the Teckel is a great concept but poorly carried out, the concept is right though, I've caught a ton on my Homemade Teckel frog. I hope the Booyah Toad Runner does what the Teckel couldn't.
  10. I’ve had success nose-booking them like this.
  11. Like Zoom Superflukes? Those and wacky rigged Senkos are my two main underwater lures.
  12. KVD Sexy Dawg, KVD’s Knock-off of the Zara Spook was my most productive topwater until I started using Whopper Ploppers.
  13. What is the shallowest you go with a dropshot?
  14. How shallow do you fish with dropshot? I fish like *** feet at the most usually, usually 1-2 feet. Is that too shallow for dropshot?
  15. I bought some Siebert jigs and hit a nice spot where I threw like 20 casts and caught 4 nice bass over 1.5lbs each, must have been a hole with them in it. Never did that again and never really caught anymore bass on jigs........so, I usually use spinnerbaits.
  16. Cavitron buzzbait is the best one my group has used. We own a bunch of them. CS is great too, bought a brand new one and the skirt came off and the Bobby sent us a brand new one. I think 2 brand new ones actually.
  17. I’ve tried other spoons and only done ok. Ragetail toads catch a lot of fish on the sink too.
  18. Two lures that I purchased last year that I've never tried before were a Chatterbait and Teckel Sprinker Frog. The Chatterbait never got one bite and the Teckel got a few blow ups with no hookups except 1 pike. So, this year I want to try to catch more fish on both. Are there any lures you're going to give a Second Shot this year? I'm really set for what I use and don't plan on buying anymore lures, for topwater I use a Whopper Plopper and Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog, and for underwater I use a nose-hooked Zoom Superfluke and Wacky Rigged Senko. I will be trying a Booyah Toad Runner to replace the homemade Teckel though.
  19. Water is cold for you.....really cold for us!!!!
  20. Cool, thanks. This is the one: http://mustad-fishing.com/am/product/ultrapoint-ball-bearing-swivel-wfastach-clip-ftcbb/
  21. On all of my baitcasting rods because I change lures often. I used the regular Fastach clip but now am going to try using the Fastach clip with a ball bearing so that if lures like the Whopper Plopper won't spin. I used to use them on my spinning rods too but now I just have 2 spinning rods, one with a wacky rigged 5" Senko and one with a Zoom Superfluke nose-hooked and don't change lures often with those.
  22. Do you have link? I couldn't find them. http://mustad-fishing.com/am/product-category/terminal-tackle/swivels/
  23. I never had great luck with hollow body frogs. Caught a few, lost a few but never great success. Had a ton of success with Rage Toads, either catching fish on the splashdown, letting them sink, or on the retreive. Their achilles heel is that they are disposable and you can go through quiet a few. Last year (granted, it's only a years worth of R&D) I made Homemade Sprinker Teckel Frog with a Spro Frog, #4 VMC 3 way swivel, and Teckel Sprinker Frog tail because I didn't want to wait for the real Teckel Sprinker Frog to come out (it sucked btw). I caught a ton of fish on this lure. Like one time, 4 in a row. It was crazy. Have never had such good luck with any frog. It was a brown one. Now that Booyah is coming out with their cheaper knock-off of the Teckel frog I am going to try that. It seems to be all of the best features of a toad + hollow body combined, minus the sinking feature which sometimes really catches fish.
  24. Good point. Not like like most people say, “I saw a majority of positive reviews, but that one bad one influenced me enough not to buy it!” So yes, they’d probably have to pepper Tackle Warehouse with multiple bad reviews to make an impact.
