Booyah Toad Runner Frog
They say that imitation is the imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The new Booyah Toad Runner appears to be a nearly identical copy of the Teckel Sprinker Frog, the only difference being the frog has rubber skirt legs in addition to the paddle tail. I made some Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frogs from many frogs before Teckel Sprinker frogs became available and had the best luck with a Spro Bronzeye, VMC 3 way swivel size #4, and an original Teckel Sprinker Frog Tail. We caught a lot of fish with it last year, more than I've ever caught with regular hollow body frogs. The 2nd best frog was the Booyah Homemade Teckel frog. I liked the Spro because it really caught a lot of fish, didn't fill up with water, and didn't have to be squeezed to get water out. I finally got some Teckel Sprinker Frogs when they became available and was really disappointed in them. The fish blew up on them but I only caught 1 and it was a northern. The rest just seemed to throw it into the air. This is after I opened up the hooks quite a bit. The Teckel frog is also expensive. Now I see that Booyah has their own version of the Teckel Sprinker Frog and it is only $9.99. Not super cheap but not too expensive for a frog. So, if this one works, rather than make my own, I'd just buy these. And Booyah is known for making a good, durable frog for a fair price. Has anyone tried them? https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/booyah-toadrunner-soft-bait-18byhutdrnnrlprdflur/18byhutdrnnrlprdflur

Whopper plopper. . .why the hype??
Thanks. Wow, basically an exact copy. I wonder if Teckel doesn't have a patent.

Link? I just googled it and didn't find anything.

Whopper plopper. . .why the hype??
I ordered a bunch of the Teckel frogs because I couldn't wait....once I got them found out they failed in their execution, the homemade frog works great though.

If you have really weedy lakes I'd suggest you make a homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog. I've used frogs my whole life and never did great with them. Made a homemade Teckel Frog and killed it all last year. I use it when I can't use the WP. I've tried a few different name brand frogs and found I like the Spro Bronzeye best. I then add a VMC size #4 three way swivel, and a real Teckel Sprinker Frog tail (you can order them seperate). I've never seen a hollow body frog catch so many bass. Fishing with 2 of my friends who were using regular hollow body frogs, they missed 1 I think and I caught like 6 that day, 3 of them right in 3 casts too. They were like what are you using!

Have rods reached a plateau in technology for quite some time?
How could they make braid nearly invisible? Why would having guides closer together increase casting, wouldn't that be more guides thus more friction? Or do you mean less guides friction?

Have rods reached a plateau in technology for quite some time?
With cars and trucks now you expect a redesign every few years which is nice because for a few years if you buy a new car it won't change for a few years. However, the bow industry is just like the paintball industry was, you have to have new models each year which is a disservice to customers because they throw away a lot of great bow models just to have a "new" model for next year and the new model might not actually be an improvement.....but because they have to have a new model every year it gets rolled out. This new bow maybe a few FPS faster, an ounce lighter, "smoother", or have less shock, but there really isn't anything new because you can only change a cam so much. So, what did the bow industry do? They just raised the price of flagship bows from an expensive $1,000 to $1,200-$1,400. Unreal.

Rods have come a long way. However, besides technology that could make rods a little stiffer, better action, more durable, sensitive, or other will there be any drastic improvements in technology in the future? Perhaps nanotechnology could make rods super light weight or something but not sure. Have rods reached a plateau in technology?

Review: Cabelas Tournament Zx Baitcasting And Spinning Rod
Happy you like them. Sorry for the late reply, just saw this. I use the frog rod for everything. But then again I'm not a very versatile, well-rounded fisherman. The rod is very versatile though.

Did Abu Garcia discontinue the Revo Rocket?
Takes time to research all of that. If someone knows about it they can answer it quickly. Plus, starts discussions which is good for discussion boards. ?

I see that you can't find them anywhere including TW, Cabelas, and others, and Bass Pro has them on deep discount.

Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
I don't fish when it gets cold because of a physical condition where I can't. Different lures work well at different lakes and areas. I'd say Senkos are probably one of the best bass catching lures of all time.

Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
For most lakes I fish it comes down to Whopper Plopper, Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog, Wacky Rigged Senko, and nose-hooked Zoom Super Fluke. I have a feeling that these lures would work well in a lot of lakes across the country. I will say that it took a lot of trial and error for me to pair it down to these 4 lures, now these 4 lures are all I really use. Rest of my lures sit in the tacklebox until those 4 don't work well again.

What’s the best baitcasting reel on sale in the $200-$300 range?
I have a Plueger Patriach and Quantum Smoke reel that I can't get to cast far. I think the Patriach is circa 2009 and the Smoke is a few years newer. I have 2 Abu Revo Rockets that I do like a lot and they cast far.

What’s the best baitcasting reel on sale in the $200-$300 range?
Looking for a reel for a 7’1” all around rod. I use a Cabelas Tournament ZX Frog Rod for all of my fishing, and looking to match it up to a reel that when on sale is in the $200-$300 range. What baitcasting reel would this be?

Finally going to try Rage Baits
I've got a bunch but don't really fish plastics after all that. I will say that weightless T-Rigging the Bug and throwing it over pads and stuff like a hollow body frog caught me a lot of fish. It was a better topwater bait for me in cover than any below water lure.

Where to try on Costa sunglasses?
I would like to purchase a pair of Costa sunglasses some day but would need to try them on as my face isn't good for normal sized glasses. Where can I try them on? I see that Costa makes like 300 different ones! Also, what's good for fishing, glass or plastic lenses?

How bad did I hurt my motor?
I have a 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse on a 18 foot Stratos VLO. Well, I put the motor down to drain and put a thick piece of cardboard under it. It's been sitting in the pole barn for about a month and I went down to the pole barn and saw that the motor was touching the ground. The only thing I can figure is that the tires lost pressure (they look low) and lowered the back of the boat. The boat does have 3 tire chalks, so it didn't move anywhere. The cardboard wasn't cut but did show an impression of where the skeg was. I used the motor's electric trim to lift the motor up. It took about 2 seconds of movement before I could see the boat go down, so the motor was obviously holding the back of the boat and trailer up. I trimmed the motor up and down a few times and it seemed to work fine and sounded fine. I'm just wondering if I did some unseen damage. Did I damage my motor or boat?

Do I need Evinrude lower unit lube/oil for the lower unit?
I want to change my 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse's lower unit oil this weekend. I used to own a 2000 Mercury 150 horse and I used the Mercury brand Quicksilver lower unit oil which I still have a bunch of.Can I use the Quicksilver lower unit oil in the Evinrude or should I use only Evinrude brand lower unit oil?
