  1. SCIII is better than SCIII even though they are the same price?
  2. Are the Mojo bass rods better or worse than the Premiers? I see they are about the same price.
  3. I'd let him try tying his own knots on cheaper lures. lol. I lost about a 9lbs. walleye at the boat as a kid because my older cousin used a shoe knot to tie my Rapala on. Used the Whopper Plopper 110 In Munky Butt again last night while my bro used 2 different Cavitrons. After seeing me catch 3 nice bass he put away the Cavitrons and put on a Whopper Plopper 90 in Bone. He started doing better than me! Part of the problem was there was a lot of weeds just underneath the water and the WP 110 was so heavy it'd go deep on splashdown and catch weeds, because the WP 90 was lighter it didn't happen. He ended up catch 6 I think. He did say the WP 90 had way less action than the 110 which I too noticed but apparently the fish didn't notice. So, once again, WP beats the Cavitron on the 2nd unscientific test. I won't throw away or stop using my Cavitrons, but as my bro said, "My new favorite lure!"
  4. I'm looking to get a new spinning rod. Under $100. However, with the current sales, I could perhaps get a deal on a rod that is normally over $100 but under $100 with the current sale. I have some giftcards from Tackle Warehouse that I bought for 10% off, so combined with their current 15% off, it'd be 25% off. Or if any other website has a good deal on rods. This rod will be used for mostly 5" Senkos and Zoom Super Flukes, so perhaps medium weight? What would be the best Spinning Rod under $100?
  5. TW sale 4th of July sale is on now.
  6. Saw this thread and then went out yesterday and cast my Rage Toad against a dock about 15 yards away. Reeled it in and attached to it was a gross, dead, bloated, mouse that had apparently been in the water for at least 2 days. Gross!!!! What's the chance of casting in somewhere in a lake and snagging a dead mouse??? Also, my bro and I were fishing in the shallows once, wading through the water when an owl flew over us and dropped something right near my brother. He instinctively picked it up immediately. It was 1/2 a mouse. He quickly dropped it. lol. Ugh.....gross!!!
  7. Had the same problem when I got a St. Croix Mojo bass casting rod. Finger really hurt bad for a long time after fishing, like nerve damage. I tried holding the rod differently and never worked. Sold the rod, got different brand rods, no problem no. I'd try different positions on the rod and if that doesn't work, try a different rod.
  8. Thanks guys, nice to know I don't have to worry about plastics drying out, it will make it a lot easier to store them.
  9. Ok. Thanks. Zman have to be sealed and can't touch other plastics, correct?
  10. Even if the original plastic bag isn't sealed they won't dry out?
  11. I've always kept opened plastics such as Senkos, Flukes, and Rage Bugs inside their original packaging inside a large airtight plastic tackle box, a Plano Liquid Bait Locker to keep them from drying out. I keep them in a larger box because sometimes I don't seal the original plastic packages well, or in the heat of the moment, don't when I'm fishing. I'm not actually sure I need to do that because I'm not sure they'll dry out. But if they do dry out, I want them in an airtight case. If they do need an airtight tackle box, what is the best one? I see these two a lot: If I don't need to put them in an airtight container because they won't dry out, please tell me, so I can save some money. lol. Thanks in advance.
  12. Is Tackle Warehouse having their sale? I haven't seen anything yet.
  13. On a hunting forum a guy said he'd been hunting for 21 years and hadn't ever killed a deer yet. You'd think he would have at least killed one with his car! "A" for persistence though.
  14. Why do you favor the buzzbait?
  15. Black and white/chartreuse with either red or gold metal is all you need. They are the best. CS is great too!
  16. +1 Whopper Plopper is quickly becoming my favorite topwater lure.
  17. This thread was just started recently and asks the same questions. Lots of answers on here. I think a lot of people will say Cavitron because it just works. How is it better than other buzzbaits? I don't know, but it's the only buzzbait I really use anymore.
  18. I would try a Zoom Super Fluke in white or white with chartreuse tail either weightless Texas Rig with an Owner CPS Twistlock hook or use a CPS Spring in the nose and a hook through the CPS like a Banjo Minnow as the guy in this video shows. I just saw this video for the 1st time and it makes a lot of sense. If you can't find the CPS springs, just nose hook it. He uses Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap in 1/0 size. This is a very productive lure that takes anyone can fish with and in white it's easy for you to see. It's also a cheap lure. Watch how to set up on this video. You can skip to the 3:29 mark. Also, if you want to try topwater which is always fun, a Whopper Plopper 110 would be a great lure because it is simple to use and effective. All you need to do is cast it out and reel it in. A lot like the Zoom Super Fluke which can be just cast and reeled in (although jerking it and letting it sit for a sec help a lot - I know my friend's gf just reels it in and she catches lots of bass). The Whopper Plopper is very versatile, you can cast it and let it sit for awhile, reel it straight in, reel it in and stop mid-retrieve, or whatever works for you. As long as there isn't a lot of surface weeds.
  19. Ic. You may want to try the Teckel Sprinker frog if it ends up being good. Sinilar to a WP/Buzzbait but weedless. Might be perfect for your area.
  20. How is the buzzbait more versatile? I agree it's a bit better in weeds, but not much. The Whopper Plopper is similar to a buzzbait but can be stopped mid-retrieve, can just sit after splashdown and catch fish, can be fished very fast, very slow, or in between wherein the buzzbait has to be retrieved at a fairly constant speed. The WP also has two treble hooks so you don't need a stinger hook like you do with a buzzbait if they are striking short.
  21. Cavitron well above any of the others and I have a ton of them. Second favorite is Booyah Clacker, but it's far behind in success.
  22. Yeah, I stayed away from that one. lol
  23. Give it a few more tries. I didn't catch any fish the first couple of times I used a Zara Spook either.
  24. Dang, I'm going to try this now. Thanks for posting. Question, using an Owner CPS and the hook through the body you go through quite a few Flukes. Hooking it this way, how many do you go through? Does the CPS not get pulled out as much?
