What do you normally do?

Anyone tried the new Teckel USA SPRINKER FROG?
Cool. Do you walk them or just straight retrieve?

What's your fluke technique?
How long do they normally last that way?

Any sales on St. Croix Rods?
Thanks! I did go to Gander, nothing left at the 3 near me.

Review: Whopper Plopper vs. Cavitron
Obviously you don't like it. That's ok. A lot of us have great success with it. Yep, what works today may not work tomorrow and may work again the day after that. But if you have the lure that is currently working today, then you're catching fish.

Any sales on St. Croix Rods?
I would put this in rods and reels but the "sales" threads seem to all be in this subforum. Looking for a St. Croix spinning rod for bass fishing on sale. Looking for a Premier or higher quality. A friend's birthday is coming up and he's never had a nice rod. There are plenty of nice ones out there but he said he'd like to buy himself a St. Croix someday, so I'm going to try to make that happen. I figure with July 4th coming up this weekend something might pop up. Please post if you know of any sales on St. Croix rods. Thanks in advance.

That's crazy. Rare day a fish won't bite one of those. Catch a lot of sunnies on it too.

Review: Whopper Plopper vs. Cavitron
Fishing a lake that I've fished for a few years. It doesn't have a great topwater bite during the day, but have caught some fish during the day and evening with buzzbaits and KVD Sexy Dawg. Went out yesterday with my friend and fished from around 5:30pm - 8:30pm. He used 2 different colored Cavitrons (our most successful buzzbait) in unknown weights and I tried a Whopper Plopper 110 in Munky Butt. Over the course of 3 hours he caught 1 bass, missed 1 with his buzzbait, and I caught 8 bass and missed 3 with my WP. He then tried my Whopper Plopper and caught a nice bass just under 2lbs. So, for our unscientific, 1 day testing, the Cavitron caught 1 bass and the Whopper Plopper caught 9. That's a whupping. I've only used the Whopper Plopper for 3 days I've caught fish in 4 ways. Letting it soak on the splashdown, within the first 6 inches of the retrieve, mid-retrieve, and stopping it mid-retrieve. The Whopper is definitely becoming my most successful topwater bait in quick order. I can't wait to try the Teckel Sprinker Frog because it has a Whopper Plopper style while being weedless. There was a lot of places I fished that day that had thin surface weeds that a frog would work well over but the WP was getting caught up on. My friend liked it so much he wants to buy 2 WP's now. I'll still stick with my Cavitrons but the WP is sort of like a buzzbait with the addition that you can stop it mid-retrieve and catch fish on the splashdown by letting it sit. Also, my friend said he just lost 2 of his Cavitron skirts for no reason, I know one was a brand new lure and the skirt came flying off on his first cast, he was upset by that. I said, skirted baits lose skirts, you can buy replacement skirts for about $4. He said he shouldn't need to on a new bait, which I agree, that one must have had manufacture defect. One thing about the Whopper Plopper is you don't need to worry about losing skirts. We'll have to try another Cavitron vs. Whopper Plopper contest this summer.

Is this Whopper Plopper 110 the version with rattles or silent?
Because they were cheap, $10 vs. $16, I got free shipping by ordering 5, and over the years I've lost lures either to pike/muskie or other reasons so now I won't have to buy replacements when/if I lose these. I like this lure a lot, so having spares isn't bad. Plus, I got 3 different colors, munky butt, loon, and bone.

Is this Whopper Plopper 110 the version with rattles or silent?
This. I ordered one with rattles, and would like what I ordered, whether others think it's worthless or not. :-)

Use of snap swivels?
Love them. I think size 3 is what I use. I use them with spinner and buzzbaits too, just put a little piece of rubber tubing over the line attach part of the lure and the fastach won't slide around.

What's your fluke technique?
Weightless Texas Rigged with an Owner Twistlock hook. Just a cast, jerk, retrieve.

Use of snap swivels?
I like these KVD Fastachs. Super strong, easy to use, cheap, and available.

Who's selling the Whopper Plopper 110?
Thanks. They were $10.99 from Tackle Experts on Saturday when I made my order. Just checked now and back to $16.99. Bummer. Luckily I ordered 5. But now my friend wants some when he saw how well mine worked today.

Is this Whopper Plopper 110 the version with rattles or silent?
I just received my 5 Whopper Ploppers and I believe they are the rattle versions, however, the package says hooks silent, so I don't know what that means. The WP appears to have 3 channels with metal ballbearings in it, so I think those are rattles. When I grab ahold of it and keep the hooks and swivels immobilized, it sounds like it's rattling. It also looks the exact same as my WP 130 which also has rattles. I'm not sure though. Is this the rattle or silent version Whopper Plopper?

Booyah Buzzbait (clacker)
Really my two favorite buzzbaits. I don't cut the clacker off. Cavitron is number 1 by far and then clacker.

Question on the Tekel Sprinker Frog
Well, than that makes sense. Too bad, a permanent tail would be nice.

Question on the Tekel Sprinker Frog
So, I would like to try this Teckel Springer Frog out sometime (everyone is out of stock including TW), it seems to have the plop of a Whopper Plopper but is weedless and a frog, which is awesome albeit I don't think you'll be walking the dog with it. However, on closer inspection I noticed that the tail is held on by what appears to be an Owner CPS twist lock. This makes me think that the tail is very soft and can be damaged or lost, thus needing a new tail. I haven't seen any sales of replacement tails for this lure. I'd hope that it was a permanent tail, but this doesn't appear to be the case. So, is this a soft tail that is expected to be replaceable and are there replacement tails available?

Initial thoughts on Whopper Plopper 130 and 90
Cool. Thx.

Anyone know where to find this type of Electrical Connector Box?
I clicked on the link. Is there a male and female end?

Top water baits.
I like 3 colors for topwater. White, black, and translucent. Ironically translucent has always worked best for me.

Who's selling the Whopper Plopper 110?
Still have some in colors other than monkey butt, bone, and loon! Apparently I like the same colors everyone else does. What's weird is I can see my order on their website but haven't gotten an email yet.

Anyone tried the new Teckel USA SPRINKER FROG?
I added this in the wrong subforum earlier. Just saw a video and this frog seems awesome. It's like a Whopper Plopper but weedless which is nice. Obviously you can't walk the dog like a traditional hollow body frog, but it seems cool still. I love my Whopper Ploppers so far, but obviously they aren't weedless, this could fill that niche where you need a weedless lure. I am trying to not spend a lot of money on lures this year and the Whopper Plopper was supposed to be my one new lure this year, but this frog seems really intriguing. Must be pretty new, not a lot of people are carrying them but Tackle Warehouse has them. $13 which is expensive for a hollow body, but if it catches a lot of fish and is durable as a hollow body frog can be it could be worth it. Senko/trick worm/fluke rod - M or MH, length?
All of my spinning rods are Cabelas Tournament ZX's dropshots, which are medium, 7'. They are really light but have the backbone to reel in any bass easily. Really impressed with them. $99, but always go on sale for $69, which is a steal.
