  1. Thanks. Cabelas and Gander sells XD100 at $64 a gallon. Yikes.
  2. Thx. I looked at this but.....$22 for shipping. Yikes! Where can I just pick it up cheaper?
  3. Thx. Yeah, I read you. When you're fishing with kids, you aren't fishing.
  4. I own a bass boat now and it works great. However we maybe having a change of lifestyle with a kid on the way. My current bass boat is 18-1/2 feet. I would like to get a 22 footer. I am thinking something like the Ranger Z522D. But now that we may have a kid I was debating on a more family friendly boat. I'm thinking new boat 2-3 years down the road. If possible I'd like to stick with a bass boat. I have a friend who has 2 young children and he said fishing them off of his bass boat hasn't been a problem, he has a 18' Nitro. Obviously they wear life jackets. My biggest concern is that they'd fall out of the boat and secondly that they couldn't lie around/sleep or just chill as kids get tired/bored quickly. Not looking for a boat to multi-purpose boat like a fish/ski to pull people behind while wakeboarding or skiing. Strictly a fishing boat. So, I wouldn't get a fish/ski for the purpose of skiing, but if it was better for kids to fish out of. I know that bigger boats like Lund Tyees could be hard for smaller kids to fish out of because of the high walls, although safer for them. I'm also worried about ride. My brother and I were riding in my Stratos this year and hit some fairly small waves so hard that I thought I broke my tailbone and the bottom of the boat. And we were only going 40mph. I'm hoping a boat like the Z522D would have a deeper hull and prevent a rough ride like that. So, who has a bass boat with family, small children and does it work fine and is the ride good?
  5. What marine grease did you use? Is yours a plastic plug?
  6. I had a chatterbait, not sure what brand, but before I could use it, I lost it somehow. Looking to try one. I've never used them before. 1.) What is the best Chatterbait? 2.) What is the best value Chatterbait?
  7. I just love my KVD Sexy Dawg, favorite lure, but I saw the blow ups on the Whopper Plopper and ordered some when they were on sale at Dicks recently.
  8. Aren't the famous Beetlespins good for this?
  9. My favorite type of lure! Although I use KVD Sexy Dawgs.

I've tried them weightless T-Rig too and just didn't find them as effective as wacky rig either. I just use Senkos wacky rig now.
  11. The Senko's got a certain shimmy to it that the others don't. Wonder if that's what makes it so deadly.
  12. Yep, scam. Got a similar reply on one who was being sold by the widow and she just didn't want to deal with it.
  13. Any pics of you're customized buzzbaits? How do you open the curve of the blade?
  14. Try the Mustad KVD Fastach in size 3. It's what I use for everything.
  15. Try the rubber tubing and Fastach clip.
  16. We have stickied threads for specific lures such as Senkos and NED rigs. Perhaps we can sticky this thread on Fishing Tackle TIps & Tricks which would cover rod, reel, and tackle tips. I know that some guys like to change their reel handles, add hook holders, use rod sleeves, use clips for lures and other tricks and tips. Just tips and tricks like that that have helped make your fishing experience more satisfying and efficient. I'll start out with two tips. I learned both from fisherman on here and they have really helped me save a lot of money and time. The second one, how to save on Senkos has been covered before but that's ok. 1.) How to quick change lures: KVD Mustad Fastach Clip (I like size 3 for my baitcaster). This clip also helps add movement to stickbait lures and such. I've tried snaps, swivel snaps, and many other types of clips and snaps and nothing has worked as well as this. What's nice is they are cheap and can be found easily at Walmarts and other sporting good stores and are $2.86 for a pack of 12. They are also much stronger than swivel snaps and snaps. I'm still on my original 5, even though I've caught many northerns on them. I've had northerns tear up snaps quick. Number 3 size has a 75lbs. breaking strength. 2.) How to quick change Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits: Rubber Tubing (I use the Fastach clips on all of my baitcasters but have to use the segment of tubing for Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits so they don't slip - I use standard airline tubing for aquariums.). It goes over the loop tight but then is fits once it gets into the groove. The tubing does not effect the action of the lure. 3.) How to save on Senkos: Rubber Tubing (I use a 1" piece of vinyl tubing that is 3/8" inside diamater and 1/2" outside diameter.). With this tip I've had 1 Senko last like 12 trips which was probably over 50 fish. That's a lot of savings when I have lost Senkos just casting. The tubing does not effect the action of the lure. Sorry, couldn't get the photos to go horizontally. Alright guys, hopefully we can sticky this thread and guys can add their tips and tricks.
  17. I think this would be hard to make a sport. Especially since you need a lot of expensive gear which many countries would have a hard time coming up with and even places to fish. A lot of bass in Croatia? http://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoors/2016/10/19/fishing-to-become-olympic-sport.html
  18. 1.) Change lower unit lube/oil 2.) Fog engine: take out spark plugs, shoot Seafoam Fogger inside, turn key for a second or two, put spark plugs back in loosely. I had a built in 3 bank charger that is also a trickle charger so I just plugged in my batteries and left it like that all winter. Storing a boat outside is one of the worst things you can do for a boat, so if you can store it inside go for it. **** I always put Stabil and usually Seafoam in every time I fill the gas tank up. That way if something happens to me mid-season and I can't fish anymore the gas is stabilized as it tends to start breaking down after a week or two apparently. I also try to put the boat away with as full a gas tank as I can. You can watch youtube videos on how to do all of this. It's not hard.
  19. Correct. However, if you follow the guidelines in the below post one Senko may last up to a dozen fishing trips making the cost lower.
  20. You didn't say whether you have a boat or not. If you're fishing from shore that changes everything. Docks are great to fish from and fish if you have a boat. Two great lures that are cheap and easy to use are Zoom Super Flukes (I'd get some Owner Twistlock hooks in 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 to go with it) and Gary Yamamoto Senko worms in 5" with a hook of your choice, most likely an EWG in 4/0, or 5/0. Both these baits can be cast from shore or to shore and are effective, cheap, and found at any sporting good store including Walmart. I also use Power Pro braid in yellow so I can see it on all my spinning and baitcasting rods. I'm not nearly as good a fisherman as most guys on here but this works well and keeps my costs down. I haven't put new line on any of my rods in 7 years. Every year I cut about a foot off because of abrasion or if I get caught up bad. I use 15lbs. on my spinning and 35lbs. on my baitcasting.
  21. Why do you add the split ring? I've always attached right to the lures eyelet and that's worked well for me.
  22. Thx Glen. Another great video! I almost never use bullet sinkers but I have lost fish in the manner you're saying. I'll try dropping the rod tip next time.
  23. What system do you speak of?
  24. Dual Pro is a great choice. I had a 3 bank charger and it charged 3 batteries that were all old and weren't the same. Kept them working for 3 years. If I get a new boat it will have a Dual Pro charger. If it's good enough for Ranger and others now as a standard charger you can't go wrong. I have a Minn Kota now and so far so good. My friend went thru 2 Minn Kotas but Cabelas took care of him.
