Why do Rangers have odd metal bars vs. a flat, useful pad at the back of their bass boat?
Nice boat. This maybe a stupid question but why is the motor two tone?

Why did Cabelas and Bass Pro stop selling floating fish grippers?
Floating fish grippers were recommended on here and I've seen them at Cabelas in the past. Not too expensive. I was thinking about buying a pair but I noticed that Cabelas and Bass Pro stopped selling them and they aren't in stores anymore. Did something happen? Were they defective or went out of business? Tackle Warehouse carries basically the same thing under the Rapala name....so maybe they sold their patent/rights to Rapala? Anyone know why Cabelas and Bass Pro stop selling floating fish grippers?

Interesting. The current pics of the Z522 show bars. Got a pic of your boat? Does it have a pad?

Yeah, pee off the main part of the boat and drip on the gunwale and your carpet. lol.

Why do Rangers have odd metal bars vs. a flat, useful pad at the back of their bass boat?
Tackleboxes, gear, lots of stuff, not just heavy stuff. The boat has a high rim so being able to put it on the pad first helps. Plus I fish off it a lot, and pee. lol. Luckily I don't have any prostrate problems like Way2slow. I use it far more often then I'd use bars for falling out of the boat. Knock on wood that hasn't happened yet.

Really, Really Stupid Question
I always use ethanol free gas that a station nearby carries. I also use Stabil every time I fill up, that way if I get hurt or something and can't use my boat the gas won't go bad. I was old gas starts going bad in about s week, so I put Stabil in right away.

Why do Rangers have odd metal bars vs. a flat, useful pad at the back of their bass boat?
Answer: pull up bars in case you fall in the water. I called Ranger and spoke with them. The bars are for pulling yourself out in case you fall in the drink. Unnecessary if you ask me, most of today's boats, including Rangers, come with emergency boarding ladders. So, a nice flat pad to stand on or rest heavy objects like boat batteries that you are loading into the boat. And like Way2slow said, you can step on the motors cavitation plate and trim yourself up.

Best place to get outboard oil?
I have a 2014 Evinrude Etec 115 horse. I will be using Evinrude XD100 oil in it. If I buy it by the gallon it's about $45 a gallon, however, I can buy it in bulk of 3 and get it for $35 a gallon from Amazon which is $106. I'm just wary about getting fake oil. Although, I assume people aren't making knock-off oil like they are making other knock-off products. Has anyone here ever bought oil from Amazon? Was it fine? Also, where else could I get this oil? Does it ever go on sale anywhere? Since I'm done fishing for the season I have all winter to get oil, I'm in no rush. Best place to get outboard oil?

The pads are also good for standing and peeing off of when you are on the lake, lol.

Triton Skeeter Ranger
Ah. Will the newer 522 not be a 'ball slapped'?

Why do Rangers have odd metal bars vs. a flat, useful pad at the back of their bass boat?
I have a 2014 Statos 186 VLO and the rear of the boat has 2 flat, rubber pads at the back. They are useful for standing on when fishing, getting out of the boat, putting things on that I want to put in the boat that are heavy and can't be just put into the boat like a heavy battery, you can pick it up, put it on the pad, get into the boat, and then move the battery where you want it, and other useful things. Where the Stratos has a nice, useful, flat pad, Ranger bass boats have odd, metal bars that may look nice but are not useful for anything that I can think of (maybe they are). The pads may not look as cool, but they are far more useful. Why do Rangers have odd metal bars vs. a flat, useful pad at the back of their bass boat?

Do you not have success with them all year round or don't try them all year round? We have success with them all year round.

Fun Fluke Fishing!
Flukes are one of the best baits ever. I use the Super Fluke size. They are great for beginners because all you need to do is reel it in.

Ocho vs Senko
Good to know! I think somedays fish want certain colors, size, fall-rate, or profile, and other days they want other. I have a lot of green Senkos because I bought them in bulk in black but I really like cinnamon brown better. I think it looks like worms, and what lake doesn't have worms? And that color always seems to produce.

Is the Stutter step as good as it looks?
I missed some bass on Spooks. Did much better with the KVD Sexy Dawg though. Maybe because of the hooks. Still miss some though. But not nearly as many.

Bass Pro buys Cabelas
d**n. I hope they don't convert to Bass Pro stores. Cabelas always had great clothing while Bass Pros clothes suck in quality. Just heard this on the radio.

Senko durability
Cabelas version of the Senko, the Go-To Stickbait has a built in O-Ring that might help you with durability. I know you want T-Rig for weedlessness, but if you want to try wacky rig, I use a rubber tube that helps Senkos last much longer. Like 7-8 trips and many bass with no loss of Senko sometimes. You might want to try it out.
