Onboard Charger
I heavily researched chargers before I got my Dual Pro. I have read problems with Pro Mariner, Minn Kota, and others. The only one I didn't hear about problems with was Dual Pro. Yes, they aren't the cheapest, but if I'm up fishing somewhere far away I don't want my gear to crap out on me. If I'm just fishing a local lake I wouldn't care as much. I found out that Pro Mariner is what Cabelas puts their label on. My friend had one and it went bad, exchanged it for a new one and a year later that one went bad too. He's on his 3rd Pro Mariner from Cabelas. The only good thing is that Cabelas changes them out for free. I didn't want that kind of trouble though. I also saw that Dual Pro is put into some major boats standard. So obviously those boat companies see Dual Pro as a reliable charger. I went with the more expensive 3 bank charger and couldn't be happier. It's a really fast charge and hasn't let me down yet. I have my electronics and livewell hooked up to my starting battery. Only my trolling motor is hooked up by itself. It's been 2 years now with no problems with my batteries or charger. I will also say that I have screwed up batteries in my boat. I have a Deep Cycle battery (sealed) and a Starting battery (unsealed) connected together for my Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor and it charges them both and I still get about 5 1/2 hours of use before they drain. I know I should be using two deep cycle batteries but I got both of these batteries free, one came with the boat and the other was my dads. I'll keep using them until they don't work anymore. Might as well. Also, neither battery is a marine battery. Strange. *** Note: I will say one thing about getting a higher amperage, quicker charging charger, if you forget to plug in your boat (which I've done often), it's nice to be able to connect it and get a charge quickly and save the day rather then be SOL.

On Sale Now! - Cabelas Tournament Zx Casting & Spinning Rods $69 Normally $100
These rods are amazing man. Try one. You won't be disappointed. Especially for $69. I bought 2 of the Drop shot spinning rods and thought I didn't like it at first. I took it back to Cabelas and they exchanged it no problem for another Tournament ZX spinning rod but the Shakey Head model. I didn't like that as much and took it back to Cabelas and once again switched it out, this time back to the Drop Shot rod which I'm really happy with now. Cabelas didn't need to exchange those rods for me but the did no questions asked. That's awesome customer service and why Cabelas has a customer for life on me.

Koppers Livetarget Field Mouse
I just got mine from Tackle Warehouse. I'll have to try it. I was having so much success with my new Savage 3D frog I didn't get a chance to use it.

Dang You Gary Yamamoto! - And Dang You Thieves!
It's not breaking them that's the problem. It's them being tossed off while fighting a fish or on a cast.

On Sale Now! - Cabelas Tournament Zx Casting & Spinning Rods $69 Normally $100
I own a G. Loomis GL3, St. Croix Premier, St. Croix Rage, and some other rods. I bought 4 of the Cabelas Tournament ZX rods (2 spinning, 2 casting) and they are my favorite rods now. Well thought out, light weight, great grips, and seem to weigh a weight class down from their actual weight. They won the Outdoor Life's Editor's Choice award this year. They are a great rod for $100 and an amazing rod for $69. If you're looking for a casting or spinning rod, this is the one I'd get. I've got 2 of their spinning dropshot rods and 2 of their topwater frog rods. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Home/Summer-Clearance-Fishing-Gear%7C/pc/105625080/c/108162180/Cabelas-Tournament-ZX-Bass-Casting-Rods/1619298.uts?destination=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D108162180&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat108162180 http://www.cabelas.com/product/Home/Summer-Clearance-Fishing-Gear%7C/pc/105625080/c/108162180/Cabelas-Tournament-ZX-Bass-Spinning-Rod/1620153.uts?destination=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D108162180%26WTz_l%3DGlobalBanner%253Bcat148662180&WTz_l=GlobalBanner%3Bcat148662180%3Bcat108162180 Here's the review I did on them. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/139456-review-cabelas-tournament-zx-baitcasting-and-spinning-rod/?hl=%2Bcabelas+%2Btournament+%2Bzx

Yeah, I was wondering if he would eventually pass it or die from them if he wasn't caught.

Dang You Gary Yamamoto! - And Dang You Thieves!
Gary Yamamoto is a genius. The man created the perfect lure. Supremely effective with built in obsolescence. Thus, you have to keep buying his product. Similar to beer, you have to keep replenishing it. It's not a permanent lure, it's a temporary one. Whether you lose the lure on a single fish or on a simple cast you will lose them guaranteed. So yesterday I'm fishing and killing them with cinnamon Senkos and when I ran out, green pumpkin Senkos. My brother joins me and catches 5 fish, 5 fish that threw the brand new Senko each time. I went through 2 bags of Senko's in about 10 minutes. I ordered a bulk pack of Senko's from Tackle Warehouse in Green Pumpkin but didn't order more until I'm confident in that color. Cinnamon has always been effective for me. If they had bulk Senkos in cinnamon I would have bought 2 packs. So, it's a love-hate relationship with Gary Yamamoto for creating such an effective lure! Now to the thief part. I hate thieves!!!! And this fish was one of the most prolific ones I've ever caught. I caught this bass and when cleaning him found 4. Four Senkos in varying degrees of digestion. Two look like they are the same one broken in two but they are in fact not the same one. Luckily I was able to take this one out of the lake and hopefully save some fellow fisherman some grief over lost Senko's. Take that Gary!

Tackle Review: Savage Gear 3D Frog With Action Legs
Firstly, I have way too many frogs. I have Spro, Booyah, LiveTarget, Scumfrog, and Matsui for hollow body frogs and Ragetail Toad, Zoom Horny Toad, and Zman Frogs for solid body. If you've followed my post you'll see that I've never really had success with hollow body frogs which is why a Ragetail Toad, which is so effective, is really my favorite frog and most used. I've caught a fish on a Spro Popper and one on a Scum Frog Bigfoot but that's really it. I really wanted to be successful with hollow bodies so when I saw a review on bassresource.com at the effectiveness of the Savage Gear 3D frog with action legs I picked up 2 in 2-3/4 size when I was at Cabelas because they were on sale. I made the mistake of picking up two of the imitation legged ones and not action legged ones like it said in the review. Well, I tried the leopard one with imitation legs on two different days with no success. To be fair I didn't catch anything on topwater that day including my Ragetail Toad or KVD Sexy Dawg. I will try the imitation legs again on a day when they are hitting topwater. I also want to use the Spro and others and see if they are also effective. So, when I saw that Tackle Warehouse had their July 4th sale I ordered one of the Savage Gear 3D Frogs with Action legs in the 2-1/4 size in dark leopard. I only ordered 1 because I wasn't impressed with my initial outings. It came in the mail yesterday and I went out fishing. After about 10 unsuccessful casts to pads and open water near a dock I was about to change lures. I put my rod down for a second to send a text and when I started reeling in I realized I had a fish on. I reeled it in and it was a nice little bass, about a pound. The fish had so quietly sucked it in without a splash or commotion I didn't even notice while the frog was sitting on the water motionless. Well, I cast again and was using a pop, pop, pop, pause, retrieve and when on the first pause a bass crushed it. I reeled him in too. Another 3/4 pounder. After some more casting and retrieving I tried a straight retrieve. I noticed if you reel too fast you get a roostertail and I didn't want that. I just tried a straight retrieve like a Ragetail Toad and got hit by another 3/4 pounder. I boated him and kept moving. Note, during all of these bites the water was glass. The waves started picking up and as I went down the docks I cast past a dock and started my pop, pop, pop, pause retrieve. Once again on the pause a pound fish hit it. I reeled it in. I caught 2 more fish that day with the Savage Gear 3D frog. You do need to squeeze the frog to drain the water out every once and awhile. I've got to say I'm impressed. I've never had this much success with a hollow body frog. I even fished with a Ragetail Toad the same day to see if I could get anything. I got one good bite on a sink with it and lost it 1/2 way to the boat. (With Ragetail Toads I let them sink to the bottom and a lot of times a fish will eat it. Just like a Senko.). Other than that though, no other bites on the Ragetail. I did catch about 5 on the KVD Sexy Dawg yesterday too. So the fish were obviously hungry for topwater. My brother joined me later in the trip and we caught some good ones on Senkos. Some over the 1-1/2lbs and a half mark with the biggest being 2.7lbs. So the bigger fish where eating and aggressive. No luck with weightless flukes or a swim jig with KVD Rodent trailer. I love this frog and will definitely be buying some more. However, I would get them in the larger 2-3/4 size. I hope that would perhaps make some larger fish bite. I would definitely stick with the 'Action Legs' over the imitation legs and like I said, I'd get the biggest size. My leopard frog had a white belly. I think belly color for frogs is far more important than the top because a fish doesn't see the top, no matter how realistic it is. That's just for fisherman. Score: 5 out of 5. Durable and effective with sharp hooks. I didn't lose 1 fish. Could you ask for anything more? First fish, can you tell that he wanted it bad? Second fish, hit it hard: Third fish, in the weeds: The underwater vegetation in the area: The conditions: overcast with light wave action. Spot where I actually caught one of the bass. You can see catch and release works. This fish has 2 old hook holes in his mouth.

How Do You Quickly And Humanely Kill Fish?
This may seem like a strange question, especially from who's been killing and eating fish his entire life. I've always hit fish over the head with a heavy stick or something and it's killed them immediately. Recently I've been eating bass and they seem much harder to kill. I give the 5-8 whacks and they are still alive. I don't know if it's the sharp angle of their head vs. the more horizontal slope of a walleye but they are much harder to kill. So, what's the best, quickest, most humane way to dispatch fish?

Usually a Ragetail Toad. This year KVD Sexy Dawg and got a new Savage 3D Frog with action legs and it killed them. Planning on testing it some more.

What's Correct For A Baitcasting Reel: Even Or Odd Number Of Brakes On?
I saw recently where a poster stated that you want an odd number of centrifugal brakes on your baitcasting reel so that it wears more evenly. However, I thought in the video posted on here the instructions were to have an even number and have the brakes be across from each other so as to not off-balance the reel. So, what's the correct answer for baitcasting reels with centrifugal brakes: even or odd number turned on?

How To Approach A Storm Coming
I guess it depends on how far away the storm is. If it's within an hour I'll be off the lake. If it's a couple of hours away I'd fish.
