  1. went out on a local river last night and pulled a few of these guys out using a kvd 1.5. the river is full of rock, big slabs that have openings underneath are scattered all along the edges of the river and some nice sections of rapids. the crankbait was nice to pull a few fish out, but i'd like to work a jig or grub around the rock and see what's hiding under there. i know they've got to be eating crayfish, every time i got out near the bank to pull my canoe up the rapids i'd see them scattering. how do i approach fishing the rocks? how fast should i work the jig? what style is best at working around the rock without getting snagged? the water doesn't move really fast and most areas are no more than 5' deep. i assume grubs, craws, tubes, and creature baits would work. i thought about a fluke on a weighted hook too.
  2. got a few packs of yum beaver bug baits last weekend for cheap. the ones near lake hartwell have a good selection

  15. did a google and found this old archived thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/92924-interesting-baby-duck-lure/
  16. I've been told jetskis and tubers/wakeboarders aren't allowed above the i26 bridge, so i may head up that way soon. fished berry's pond a few times and never caught much, i know people who have, but i haven't. the lady at the bait shop showed me a few of her crappie in the fridge, she had three that were almost 3 pounds each.
  17. I'm gonna agree with the bird pooping theory. w/r/t the worm cast making rings sometimes i'll have that and assume it's bits of grass or water coming off my lure. in high school i worked at a hotel and there was a 2 acre pond with a few large bass in it. each year when the ducklings were hatched i witnessed one being pulled under by one of the big bass swimming around.
  18. Im a canoe guy currently so Bowen is a nightmare. I fish Blalock regularly along with a pond in reidville and few in clinton
  19. i searched the southeast region board and hoped for more threads there. where do you fish here in the upstate?
  20. I'm now from Spartanburg, SC, but I grew up in Williamsburg, VA and bank fished ponds locally growing up. i found this site from the youtube channel. at home i often watch youtube videos on my tv. started with lot's of another site videos and then did a search for Gerald Swindle and i came across a bassresource interview. largemouth are my #1, but i spent last summer/fall in Colorado and picked up fly fishing for trout. i did a little smallmouth fishing out there, but i really got into trout. that carried over into the winter/spring so far. Ive been in a funk lately, not catching many fish and not hooking them when i'm getting bites. my whole bassing career i've used soft plastics (love a split shot rig or weightless trick worm) or topwater and been okay. thanks to this site, a depth finder, and friends encouragement i've been trying new things jigs, cranks, dropshots, and fishing off shore. frustration abounds, i've spent my time searching for structure off shore or playing around with baits i don't have a feel for. also schedule changes give me no time on weekends and just a few hours at night once or twice a week. so that's me.
  21. after your first sentence, i think the middle part of this post is a bait and switch.
  22. happened to me last summer, i was paddling my canoe up a small creek trying to get to a hidden pond off a river, there were trees and logs going everywhere so it required quite a bit of maneuvering. as i was going under a low tree limb and i notice spiders all over the branches/leaves. i'm not a fan of spiders so i tried ducking out of the way of the leaves. what i ended up doing was tipping myself out of my canoe. pretty much everything stayed in the canoe but me and i was now in chest deep muddy water and sinking into the silt as i frantically tried to get to the bank. i made it to the bank with some seriously scrapped up shins and a drowned iphone, paddled back to the mouth of the creek collected myself before trying again. im really lucky there were no water moccasins around.

not sure if you used regular rubber bottom boots, but i've used a pair of simms and korker's with rubber sole's and not had any trouble. i honestly prefer the rubber, less cleaning, more comfortable hiking, and better footing when climbing in and out of the streams i fish.
  24. green pumpkin blue flash trick worm green pumpkin gtail worm. i use the g-tail worm like a buzzbait.
