  1. in colder water, the bigger your topwater is, the more effective it will be. A bass is less likely going to come up for a tiny popper or plopper or a gunfish, but its worth its time to come and slurp down 6" - 9" wakebaits, swimbaits or glidebaits like ms slammer, floating jointed claw or line thru trout.
  2. Pfluegar patriarch comes with a spare spool
  3. ya, i dont know any other bait named I slide.
  4. Do you guys feel that the I slide offers poorer hookup than traditional baits with dangling hooks?
  5. Heavy fluoro leader solves the bite off problem
  6. Yes they have 3. 7'6", 7'10" and 8'. But they are all way too expensive and hard to find
  7. what's a good one for throwing swimbaits 2-5oz? Iv seen all the megabass, deps and majorcraft ones but want to see what else is out there. doesnt have to be over 8', but close to it.

    What brand is this?
  11. What are other rods like the Orochi XX Leviathan that's 8ft or longer, with a detachable handle, and can handle swimbaits up to 5~6oz.
  12. you don't want a DC reel for light lures
  13. yes braid would twist, you may not notice it as much but the twist will be there
  14. I too wish to boat flip a 20lb carp
  15. Any reel can set so that its very hard to backlash, but you will sacrifice some distance for it. The SV reels from daiwa are very good if you are willing to spend that much
  16. your line snapped or your knot came undone?
  17. I run it like this because I fish a lot of places with branches and other debris on the bottom, this way allows for less snags
  18. Like @cgolf, I value non-sponsor opinions higher, but a first post bashing sounds a bit sketchy to me. I've used kastking braid before, and it's ok. I like other braids better as mainline, so now I only use kastkings as backing. I plan on trying their Masters mono next season.
  19. ripping just means a strong upward/side jerk of the rod to try and shake the bait free of vegetation.
  20. I never leave a tag on my leaders, i trim it flush. I hate it when the tag catches on the guides or grass. I use an albright knot.
  21. they are talking about the sound that spinning reel drags make when its pulled, not the click from adjusting the drag star.
  22. How durable are these things? lures like the biwaa and lucky strike ones for example. Im worried about mesh tearing or one of the sections getting pulled off
  23. http://www.rapala.com/rapala/lures/husky-jerk-series/husky-jerkandreg/Husky+Jerk.html yours look like the glass perch color
  24. Another option would be to switch to single inline hooks
