  1. This little gizmo fits in your pocket or around your neck. Don't ask me how I know where to get one. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_13376_100004001_100000000_100004000_100-4-1 Ronnie
  2. I just went through a mini trauma at the post office. Tried to ship a rod to CA. The nice lady measured it up and it exceeded the limit by 5". The shipping rate went from $17.95 to $132.65, and that was parcel post (delivery between 10 days and two years). UPS shipped it for $30. Whew! Ronnie
  3. Happy B-day Matt!! Something tells me your dad is going to expect you take one of those 2000 mile bike rides he like to to do. Keep on keeping on! Ronnie
  4. Yep, Mods had to boot him off. Seems he was using up way too much bandwidth telling members how to fix their own reels, giving advice on custom rods, fishing tips, etc. He was posting too many helpful hints. A guy like that can get out of control if you let him. Ronnie
  5. Bass boat rentals are always going to be a crap shoot IMO. Our buddy Rick at lake Fork proved that big time. If not for the kindness of BR members, my trip would have been ruined by the shyster boat rental guy. No matter where we meet this year, I will have my boat in tow. I will also be anxious to fill my empty seat with someone who has to travel. Maybe there will be enough members with boats that those who don't or must fly in will have a seat in a boat. That would open up a lot more possibilities for a suitable lake. JMHO Ronnie
  6. Dominick, You still have the St. Croix with the lost inserts? I been wanting to get up and see you anyhow. I have a set of spinning guides that won't shed the inserts. I can cut the old guides off and replace them. No sense paying the baitmonkey when you don't have to. Ronnie
  7. Congrats Carl, Hope to see you around for many 1000s more. Always enjoy your posts. I just disregard the Yankee's posts. LOL Ronnie

Way to go Dom. You won't regret all the hard work. Although I never finished my degree program (had a family to support) last week (by God's grace) I was able to send in the last payment for my oldest daughter's tuition at Rutgers. She will graduate with honors a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and the best part, with no loans to pay back. I am very proud of her. I am proud of you too Muddy! Ronnie
  9. I have a rod holder that attaches to the trailer hitch, but I needed the hitch to carry my daughter's girlie stuff. LOL The Goldwing has an electronic cruise control, just like in your car. It's one of the many reasons I ride this particular bike. I also stop and stretch every 100 miles or so. Ronnie
  10. Had the most excellent trip to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado with my daughter. We rode a total of 5600 miles. We certified two Iron Butt rides SS1000 (1000 miles in less than 24 hours) and Bun Burner 1500 (1500 miles in less than 36 hours). The vistas and scenery were breathtaking. The roads were unbelievable! We saw wildlife, rented quads and rode literally into the mountains. Best of all, we made some daddy/daughter memories to last a lifetime. I wish you all could have gone, it was incredible. Here's a few pics......... This is my daughter watching a DVD video on the bike (no kidding)....... The lady on the purple bike riding behind us is a bit of a legend. She holds the world record for miles traveled on a motorcycle in a single year (126,137 miles) you will find her name in the Guiness book in 2008. Pictures just don't do justice to the views........ The quads were a BLAST!!!! My ever loving pride and joy (my daughter, not the bike LOL).................... My daughter has about 12000 miles in the saddle riding with me. I can't tell you how awesome it is that we get to spend this time together doing something we both enjoy. Thanks for letting me show off. I missed the board and am glad to be back. Ronnie
  11. Me too! Man, you just can't take a vacation around here. LOL I guess I am going to have to send out a couple of "Jersey Boys" to take care of this 'situation'. 8-) Seriously, Dominick, you can't let stuff get under your skin. Not everyone is as good at poking fun as you are. You are a fixture around here and it won't be the same without you. Give me a call when you can. I need to talk to you anyway. Ronnie

What a coinkydink, today is my oldest daughter's Bday also. Don't let em give you a hard time Russ, I have a Shimano reel that's almost as old as you, and it still works! Congrats on getting to the crest of the hill, you just go faster down the other side. OLD GUYS RULE!!! 8-)
  13. Stephanie describes it as a "low key roller coaster", but it definitely flies like an airplane. LOL Ronnie
  14. Not trying to be a smart azz, but anyone who would spend $300 on a baseball bat and has trouble with $30 for a fishing rod should stick with baseball. JMHO Ronnie
  15. Jay, Funny you should mention the DVD player. I fabricated a mount that slips over my back rest and she watches "M.A.S.H." videos and movies on the road. I only get to hear the audio through the headsets, but I have seen the MASH episodes so many times I can visualize them in my head. I will post a pic of this setup when I get the seat put back on. It's off to install her passenger audio controller. This gizmo lets her independently adjust the volume of the XM radio, MP3 player, DVD or GPS directions and adds a push to talk switch for her to use the CB radio without my help. This bike is a little more comfy than a HD hardtail. ;) LOL Counting the days till we go. Ronnie
  16. Way to Git Er DuN boys. Nice fish. Thanks for the pics! Ronnie
  17. My 15 year old daughter Stephanie & I are jumpin on the Goldwing and taking off for Montrose CO this Sunday. We will document two Iron Butt rides (SS1000 and BB1500) on the way out. Two weeks and around 6000 miles. I am way pumped up about this trip. There's not many things in life a 50 year old dad and his 15 year old daughter can share together. I can't tell you how thankful I am that she loves to ride with me and hang out with my friends who ride. Life is good, God is good all the time. Here's a pic of Me and Steph riding the "Hawks Nest" along the Delaware River... Pray for us to have a safe trip and to make some great memories. Ronnie

A board member named Craig made these for me for the FORK trip. I'm not sure if he makes them commercially. ? They are very high quality! Ronnie
  19. I knew there must be a secret to it. Ronnie
  20. Haven't been able to ride yet, but NJ has one of the largest contingents of active guards and reserves in the middle east. Sadly, there is a funeral in my area almost weekly. I plan to ride in several with my daughter this summer & fall. It is indeed an honor to to associate with this group. Ronnie
  21. I am a proud member of the PGR. They do a fantastic job! Ronnie
  22. Nice fish! Good Job! Thanks for the picture. I hate suspending jerkbaits. LOL Ronnie
  23. 1. Go to the moon (really, space shuttle, lunar lander, I don't care). 2. Catch a 10lb+ bass 3. Eat BBQ at "riskkid's" house on the way to Lake Fork for a "BassResource.com" gathering. HEY, wait, I have already done that! I want to do it again!!!! 8-) Ronnie
  24. OOOHH DENIED! Yup, Dad kicked our butts pretty good huh? I hate when that happens! Ronnie
  25. We gave em a try at Lake Assunpink this morning. Hit the water at sunup. It was a beautiful day, just pretty HOT at about 95 degrees. Matt & I (experienced bass fishermen LOL) were pounding the shoreline cover and coming up empty. Jim (Matt's dad) a casual bass fisherman, turned his seat around and fished deep and had a bass in the boat in no time. I got one on and on the second jump she spit my "***" back in my face. Got my heart pumpin anyway. A little later Jim had another one in the boat and Matt & I are crying in our skunk soup LOL. We struggled the rest of the morning with a lot of hits, bumps, short strikes, half worms and no bass. I was impressed with Matt. Most young guys will get discouraged when the action is slow, but Matt is a tough young fisherman. He chose the right baits for the conditions and fished them like a pro, with a 'never give up' attitude. I finally broke out a fly rod and landed a couple of bluegill to avoid getting skunked altogether. We had to call it a day just before noon so Matt's dad could make a prior commitment. All in all, it was a good morning on the water. We didn't load the boat, but we had sunshine, calm water, great fellowship and the constant hope of a strike on the next cast. We'll get em next time! I hope we get to do it again! Ronnie
