  1. whats it called? model?
  2. We are gladly to help you with any questions you may ask. This is why we are a social fishing community and as a forum member we are here to help each other with our experience. So feel free to ask questions. We will try to lead you to the right direction. ok now here are some reels that are in that range. Pflueger Superme daiwa procyon Shimano FJ - its in my top 5 Quantum Energy - my favorite theirs more but i cant think of top of my head Try them in stores first to get a good feel and if you like them, everybody have different taste
  3. The biggest advantage is weight. By making split handle, it takes weight off the rod, so companies now are removing unnecessary weight making them lighter. it was not made for looks as some people like full handle, so it comes down to preference but if you're all about taking as much weight from fishing gear than that's all me. i like light gear.
  4. All around set-up? If your looking for versatility and only using just one combo for everything, then look no further than a spinning gear. 2500 size reel with a 7'0 foot rod medium-heavy action. 30 pound braid. Bass Pro Shops and cabelas have very good gear for less, because theirs no middle man.
  5. SUFFIX 832. 50 pounds
  6. yes, In my opinion its the most versatile weight their is. With an 8wt i see people catching 150 pound tarpon to big large mouth bass. its just the perfect weight. After this 10wt combo. all i will buy is nothing buy 8 weights.
  7. rod, reel and lures. but if only 1, ill have to pick the rod, because i believe that the rod is the most important in freshwater IMO
  8. I am getting into fly fishing, i just bought a 10wt combo for my saltwater/freshwater fishing, but just find out that a 10wt is overkill, so im buying a 8wt next time.
  9. That's a hard question because theirs a lot to chose from and most of our inputs will be opinions and you might not have the same experience as we had with our baitcaster combo. You mentioned for all bass fishing. For me will be flippin & pitchin, dropshot and swimbait.
  10. I like this guy already This is Exactly what i do as well
  11. Van Staal 100 and 150 is around $700 and the shimano stella SWB are around $1100 that's a 400 dollar difference. And i never said stella was a bad reel, all i said was that the van staal are better for cheaper, you don't always get what you pay for........ for 400 bucks cheaper you can buy a 100% waterproof and metal compare to the stella. But van staal, shimano, zeebaas and saltiga are all great reels.
  12. CDMeyer is right. Mono is the most versatile line you can buy. If you can use only one line, it will be mono.
  13. I would use Fluorocarbon without a doubt.
  14. Stellas are not worth the money, for that price, they have alot of plastic in them and are not even 100% waterproof like Van Staal. Van Staal's are made of 100% metal and 100% waterproof and their like 400 dollars cheaper (easy decision) But for the basic angler, that price is not normal to spend on a fishing gear. If you end up losing or stolen, you will fill the pain and will be heartbreak. And its not about being a very good reel, its just crazy for me to invest that kind of money in a fishing reel, because i am pretty sure theirs other good performance reel out there that cost alot more less.
  15. For versatility get a natural color like Green or Brown.
  16. I prefer Seaguar InvizX over the other, If you wait, you can buy it cheap on eBay or one of those websites. I rather buy and wait for quality rather than buying it efficiently, but that's just me. I learned the hard way.
  17. Color depends on the clarity of the water, fro example, clear water = lighter colors, dirty water = darker colors. And weight also depends on the type of water, for example, light frogs for very shallow water and small ponds and heavy frogs for deeper, heavy vegetation and big open lakes, as its better for casting and heavier is bigger so in big water, it has a larger profile.
  18. In my opinion the most versatile line is 50 pound braid. its based on the state you live and the types of water you are covering, 50 pound is versatile where i live but in other state it might not be, so thats one thing you have to consider.
  19. I prefer popping frogs.
  20. If you are targeting seatrout, redfish and LMB, then get a ugly stik GX2 7' model USSP701MH $40. with the Okuma Avenger 40b size spinning reel $40. 20 pound powerpro. All this will cost 100 bucks and will outlast other 300+ range combos. good luck
  21. I asked this question to the IGFA, and they said that you don't have to give the name and lake or body of water. All they will put is the city, county and state along with your name. The IGFA is extremely close to me and the people over there can help with questions like this.
  22. Braid: suffix 832 Fuoro: seaguar red label Mono: Ande back country
