  1. I saw it, ITS AWESOME!!! They need to make more videos.
  2. "Quantum hater alert" All i see on the internet is shimano shimano shimano and shimano. If you go to TWH, they even have a shimano button on their website LOL, that's crazy. Shimano is over advertised.
  3. WOW!!! I SOLUTE YOU LOL now we are really gonna have some quantum haters show up....
  4. WHAT!! LOL some of the best in the industry use Quantum. KVD, Bill dance, Gary klein, Tommy biffle, shaw grigsby and Casey ashley to name a few.
  5. You should make another topic like this in 1 or 2 months from now. I like fly fishing. We need more fly fishing people here
  6. I also believe that their lack of product advertisement is hurting the company. They don't advertise as much as shimano and abu. In this competitive sport, they need to step their game up because people are the back bone of the company, and right now it seems like the shimano brand is winning that competition.
  7. True, All i hear is about the daiwas the lews , the shimanos and the abus. I gets boring after a while taking about the same gear over and over, but i never hear nobody talk about quantum. If some of the best bass fishermen uses quantum, then i will definitely use it and try it out. I had try them all. This is why i am very loyal to certain brands like quantum, but hey everybody has their brands.
  8. LOL, I have a feeling you did this to start an argument. But I am a diehard Quantum fan, I have used every brand that exist, all have failed me, except for quantum and other brands that are unusual for bass fishing. Quantum is used by some of the best bass fishermen in the world. I don't understand why people hate quantum. As long as i am breathing, i will continue to buy quantum.
  9. I use spinning gear 80% of the time. 15% fly gear and 5% baitcaster. The most versatile gear is a spinning outfit. people say baitcasters are for heavier stuff but other people have caught world record catches with spinning gear and fly gear so thats far from the truth. People use fly and spinning gear outfit for 1000+ pound fish, so calling fly gear and spinning gear only light and finesse is a understatement. And just like baitcasters, theirs different size in spinning and fly to get the job done. So its the same across the board. Its all about preference.
  10. Johnny morris reel suppose to be their flagship reel as their best reel.
  11. Yep, Its discontinue. On rods i would pay more that a reel unless your fighting fish that makes long runs. A rod is very important so try to spend more on a rod. I would consider the cabela's L-Tech rod on sale now for $160 or redington voyant or TFO Lefty Kreh signature series 2. for $130. You can still go on ebay or craigslist and search for high quality rods for cheap just make sure that they come with lifetime warranty.
  12. all of that is good except for the first link. You can get the red label seaguar instead of the blue label. Cut 3 or 4 foot leader with a uni-to-uni knot. Everything here will cost you about $150 or less so its very cheap but beats other 300+ dollars gear. Make sure that ugly stik rod is a 1 piece rod not a 2 piece. This is also a good set-up for big striped bass and other big game fish. If you think you're not going to encounter big fish like those than you can downsize your line 10 pound braid and 15 pound leader. If your fishing heavy vegetation, than i would put 30 pound braid. It all depends where and what your targeting
  13. Spinning 7 foot medium-heavy rod. A 4000 size spinning reel. The hudson river has other larger game fish other than bass in it so if you catch a big striped bass, you can thank that extra drag and line. I would not recommend a baitcaster for a beginner. Its a pain, but once you practice, its like magic. theirs alot of brands but for you i would get something like a ugly stik GX2. Reel i would get a Penn fierce 4000 size, with 20 pound powerpro braid and a 20 or 30 pound fluorocarbon leader. If you dont want to spend alot on line, then just use only mono line.
  14. theirs a good deal deal right now on cabela's L-Tech rods for $160, cant beat that price for a high quality rod, it even has recoil guides. TFO also makes probably the best performance per the money rods on the market. The TFO signature 2 rods are about $130 Lifetime warranty. Reels - you can get any brand you desire. I prefer redington reels or cabela's wind river reel on sale on for $19.99. I personally use Regular original 20 pound PowerPro braid. Note - i use my reel in saltwater as well thats why i use 20# but you can use lighter backing. In my opinion an 8wt is very versatile. I also use weight forward floating fly line - very versatile with a 8 to 10 foot mono 10 to 20 pound leader depending on what i'm targeting. For my higher end expensive fly reels, i only use TIBOR REELS.
  15. Ebay or craigslist. Redington makes cheap priced but high quality products. They also have combos in the $200 or less. Comes with flyline, leader and backing.
  16. I love fishing for bass on big fly's. I use 8wt outfit. The sage bass 2 rods that is 7'11 foot and any good reel.
  17. That's a good start. You don't need a fish finder here to catch fish. Most of the lakes, rivers and canals are very shallow compare to the deep lakes upnorth. Lake Okeechobee is like 10 feet max. The average depth here is 6 feet in Florida. 50 to 65 pound braid with texas rig and plastics will do.
  18. I'm also loyal to a brand. Had too many failures in my fishing life.
  19. Its a whole different fishery down here. What kind of baits are you using? In this high heat, the bigger fishing are deeper and the others or in some sort of cover like weeds and structure. In my opinion nothing beats a frogs, worms and jigs in Florida those are my top 3 best lures of all time.
  20. Ill grease it just a little not a lot, but i like to grease my drag. That reel will last you a long time, its all metal which i love.
  21. We have a Florida fishing section topic, go to local fishing then go on SouthEast fishing forum and we will answer all you question about florida
  22. We are not talking about saltwater, we are talking about size spinning reels. The 4000 size which was your statement (common sense) This has nothing to do with saltwater. Like i said before, some people like myself use 4000 size spinning reel for multiple fish (common sense). Your argument is irrelevant. I'm done here.
  23. I would grease it. That's a mighty good reel. Its a saltwater reel so you can catch bigger fish like muskies and salmon
