Transporting Fish
Congratulations on getting the fish in successfully! I've transported tadpoles to school for a class project to watch them develop, as well as guppies and some other fish. I'd love to see some pictures of them if you could manage to get a few. 8-)

My point exactly. Not starting anything here, just reaffirming an aforementioned point.

CAPITULATION!
I don't think that's the case here at all. Everyone is feeling it right now. If not in the market, then in groceries and gas. You might be better off saying that those who have lived within their means, on a budget, and saved some cash will have opportunities to invest at discounted rates... that those who irresponsibly borrowed up to their eyeballs won't have. "Rich" and "poor" have nothing to do with it... I'm not rich, by any means... but I have money saved. (thanks Dave!) Poor is a state of mind. I agree! x2!

What are the Southern States?
It truly is - and what truly gets me is when I'm on vacation and I'll say I'm from West Virginia, and they'll inquire about it, not aware that West Virginia is a seperate state.

What are the Southern States?
I've considered the southern part of West Virginia is part of the south. Our coalfields are full of the southern heritage people, however, when you get around Beckley and my area (near Charleston), the whole variety of people goes more towards a northen feel. I guess as a whole, I would say the state is more southern than anything. You can get biscuits and gravy anywhere in the state, as well as sweet tea.

Makes Me Sick
Hey hey now, just trying to make my point. 8-) I'm just saying that an event that never happened shouldn't be plastered around for the whole nation to see, regardless of the race issue.

I completely understand what you're saying. Racism was prevalent and abundant. However, you can't pin down mistakes of the past on an event which did not happen. Our Governor issued a statement today demanding that the makers of the movie apologize, and declare that particular scene in the movie as fictional.

Makes Me Sick
I'm not saying our state was more peaceful or loving than any other state. I understand that our state had racially charged citizens. However, to make a specific scene in a movie which did not exist is what gets me.

what is this thing?
Hmmm...it looks like Hookemdown. 8-)

I guess that's just another point on the long list of reasons on why I can't stand Hollywood. People turn to them as if they're enchanted gods.

Makes Me Sick
I live in a state constantly bombarded with negative media and a terrible stereotype. Granted, West Virginians aren't better than anyone else, but it just annoys the crap out of me. I opened up our paper and saw a large article talking about the new movie coming out, called "The Express." I had been interested in the movie before reading the article; now, I don't plan on seeing it at all. First, a little background on the movie itself. "The Express" is based on the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy. There is nothing wrong with that, and is something to be applauded, in fact. However, it states that a game took place between West Virginia and Syracuse at Morgantown, WV back in 1960. The movie scene shows the Syracuse team taking the field amid the booing of Mountaineers fans and uttering all sorts of racial slurs. This was proven false. The article says that members of both teams and both sides discredit this. The movie is supposed to be based on a true story, yet it is, once again, portraying our state in a negative way. I don't care if it is supposed to be 1960, portraying our state and members of it as racial bigots is a step backwards and makes me sick, ESPECIALLY if it's a FALSE event that NEVER happened. Thanks for the vent. >
