  1. I never get tired of fishing. I just keep at it.
  2. Happy hunting fellas! I hope the crappy weather we are having down in Houston stays away from the big pond.
  3. I fish that exact jig. It catches lots of fish. The only draw back to me is you can't use a Strike King worm on that spring holder. I use 1/8 and 3/16.
  4. I love to fish tubes. I mainly skip to cover and let it drop looking for a reaction strike. I will twitch it back like a fluke sometimes. I've played with every conceivable way to rig it and have settled on rigging with an Owner Phantom tube hook. Open the link then scroll down some. http://www.ownerhooks.com/pages/products/hooks/basshooks.htm
  5. Wacky. Purely confidence.
  6. I prefer the Mutu Lite to the Gammie circles for wacky rigging. I get fewer gut hookups. http://www.ownerhooks.com/pages/products/hooks/circlehooks.htm
  7. I've only used Stren and Pline braids. Both work great.
  8. wind + spinner bait = a match made in heaven
  9. I like reading all the little clues about where they should be, then finding them there.
  10. I've got that rod. I use it for flukes, senkos and tubes. It has a real fast tip, very accurate casting. I have a TD Fuego on it and use 10# and 12# line. I don't drop shot so I can't help you with that.
  11. I have the bait casting version. I really love it. Smooth, lite and casts great. If you have smaller hands (like I do) it palms like a dream.
  12. Zoom Super Fluke. Soft plastic thats not boring. Fish tend to hammer them also, no line watching required.
  13. P Line Evolution comes in 15#. Excellent line. Less stretch than CX Premium (non scientific observation).
  14. I'll throw these on a 1/4 oz. football head shakey jig. Drag then hop.
  15. I fish mostly open water. I always use a trailer on spinners and buzz baits. My biggest fish last year came on a buzzer hooked on the trailer only. That fish cemented it for me.
  16. Randall - I'd be mighty interested in hearing about your 1 hook method. I'll take all the good advice/ideas I can get. Thanks in advance.
  17. Great article. So your not concerned with matching lb. test of the braid to the recommended lb. test of your rod?
  18. KVD's Pitching to Heavy Hitters DVD @BPS
  19. I fish both. Both are outstanding. You can't go wrong with either. I prefer the external brake adjustment on the Diawas on a windy day, but that is about it.
  20. A front is rolling through Houston right now, hopefuly it will be a week or so for another. Temp in my lake is about 70 degrees and the fish are very aggressive. I know several guys that have been killing them on Conroe. I got a feeling you guys are going to do well on the Fork. Good luck and enjoy Texas. If you come back next year, I'm all in.
  21. Like Senko77 says, fish it like a crig. Slowly retrieve until you pull up against some resistance ( stick, rock, depression, etc.) then try to work the bait in small nudges through whatever cover your up against. This is when most of your strikes will happen, fish are holding on the cover. I fish as small a jig as I can, but you still have to feel bottom. Wind will generally dictate what size I use. Watch your line like a hawk.
  22. Sometimes when I have the skunk on I'll just downsize my favorite baits and see how slow I can fish them. When all else fails, it's time for a Zoom finesse worm on a split shot rig.
  23. Very manageable. Very invisible. Good sensitivity for a copolymer. Enjoy!
