  1. Yes, you can just use your trolling motor battery, if it is 12V (not a 24V or 36V set up).
  2. Structure to attract fish would be my best guess.
  3. Na. As long as the inside of the eye is smooth and won't catch your line it will be fine. You can probably just gently bend it back into place.
  4. Very carefully. Definitely have some needle nose pliers handy if you are fishing with anything with treble hooks. I guess you could get some Fish Grips.
  5. I was there just last weekend. Wasn't floating, so only fished one area next to where we were camping. I caught a couple small smallmouths on a bitsy jig with an air craw trailer. I think there just weren't any big fish where I was fishing, lot's of activity with people swimming and being loud. Later that evening started throwing a small inline spinner and small jerkbait and caught 15-20 Ozark Bass, little Smallmouth, and sunfish.
  6. IPT will stay the same, even if you had a 3 foot handle on the reel. One turn is one turn is one turn, that's all there is to it. What a longer handle will do is give you more leverage and allow you to put more torque into the reel, too much torque and you start breaking stuff.
  7. Are you sure your plug is wired right? You may be able to read 24V but it not be connected like the trolling motor needs it to be.
  8. +1 for the Pflueger Trion combo. I have been pleasantly surprised with mine. Or if you want to spend a little more, get a Pflueger President reel and pick out a rod to go with it.
  9. I just bought a pair of Native Eyewear sunglasses on sale from Sierra Trading Post. they are really nice. Looks like they are still on sale: Native Eyewear Sprint @ Sierra Trading Post They've got several other styles that are also marked down.
  10. 4 lbs is my threshold for it being a really nice fish. I enjoy catching them all, any size, any species (okay maybe not catfish or gar), but a largemouth over 4lbs seems to be more of an accomplishment.
  11. Crappie and Salmon.
  12. It's OK if you are burning a buzzbait or something. If you are letting anything sit, braid or mono would be better. I tried fishing a hollow frog with flouro, just because that's what I had on. If I let it sit the line would sink and get hung up under the pads whereas braid would just sit on top and not get hung up. Even casting where there were no pads, the flouro would sink enough to pull the frog under on the retrieve.
  13. I've been reading the site for a while. Lots of knowledgeable people here. Hope I can contribute.
  14. +1 for the Abu Vendetta. Definitely a steal at $64. Even at normal price ($80), it's still a great rod. I didn't know they were on sale at Walmart. I'll have to go grab one or two.
