Locked In Pedestal Posts
I think the nylon inserts swell. I got mine out by taking the whole pedestal out and putting it in the freezer overnight, sounds like that is not an option for you though. Once you do get it out, ream the hole in the nylon bushing out a little. I did it with a 3/4 inch paddle bit. Still snug enough to keep from rocking, but not so tight to get stuck.

Help! How To Use Flippin' Switch ?
When you are flipping, you aren't really casting. You just pull the line in front of the reel in by hand. The flipping switch is there so you can pull line off the reel easily. Say you have a right handed baitcaster and you are holding it in your right hand. To pull line off without the flipping switch, you would press the thumb bar pull the line off and then some how reengage the spool by turning the handle (hard to do with a right handed reel in your right hand and line in the other). With the flipping switch, the spool is automatically reengaged when you take your thumb off the thumb bar. Pitching is just another method of casting short distances with accuracy.

Sound I Use Braid
I would say braid would work for you, but I would highly recommend using a leader. Fishing from shore, it is going to be really hard to break off 20-30lb braid without a lighter test leader. Other benefits of a leader: Lower visibility (may or may not matter, this is debatable) Better abrasion resistance (definitely a fact) I use 30 lb braid on almost all my rigs. I use straight braid for some things and leaders for others. The Alberto knot is really not that hard to tie and is very reliable.

Action For Trout
I fished for trout last weekend with a medium/fast. Worked well. I personally don't like UL rods. I just set my drag up pretty light to provide the give needed to keep from ripping the lure out of the fishes mouth. I normally don't fish for trout so I used my finesse rig spooled with 30lb powerpro and a 12lb fluoro leader and out fished my buddy using 4lb mono. So much for trout being line shy. I guess fluorcarbon really is super clear or they were just really on that day.

Braided Line And Gin Clear Water
I fished for trout last weekend with 30lb yellow Power-Pro and a 3ft 12lb fluoro leader. I outfished my buddy using 6lb mono, 2 to 1, using the same lure. I've always thought trout are the most line shy, seemed to work just fine.

Weather App For Phone
I used to use The Weather Channel app, but got tired of its issues and constantly incorrect forecasts and switched to Accuweather. It's a little better about forecasting correctly for my area and has some neat features, but has some issues as well. I do like that it gives me more detailed wind and pressure info.

One Fish Right Off The Bat, Then Not Another Bite. What's Up With That?
This happened to me twice last weekend. Pulled up to the first spot of the day, throwing a spinnerbait. I catch one fish on my second cast then not another bite in several hours. Happened the next day, different spot, same conditions, on a squarebill. Did they go tell their buddies "don't eat that"? This is on a river that normally is pretty easy to catch fish by fishing the back side of current breaks, but not much water is moving lately. It is basically just a lake right now.

New Truck For Fishing
It's simple math to figure out the diagonal dimension of the bed. For the 2014 short bed Silverado, the bed length is 69", width 51" (according to Chevy's website). According to Pythagoras we can find the diagonal length by finding the square root of (692 + 512). That comes out to about 85" or 7'2".

Too Shallow For Fishfinder?
I fish a lake that is 12ft deep at its deepest. Most of where I fish is 4-8 ft. deep. You are correct about the fish finder not being all that helpful in finding fish or structure in that shallow of water. It is handy to know exactly what depth you are in and the water temp, though. But, mine (Lowrance Elite-4x HDI) only has down imaging and sonar. If you are looking at side imaging units, I think they could be much more useful in shallow water. I have never used a side imaging unit.

Wow.... Great Deals At Dick's
I guess not all stores are doing the half off clearance. I asked and the guy said it was just the price marked on the tag. Most of the red tags I saw were just a few dollars off normal price. This is the Conway, AR store.

3600 Size Double Depth Open Storage Box?
Yeah, I thought about just getting the 3630 and cutting out the dividers. I was hoping maybe someone on here knew of a box about that size that would work.

3600 Size Double Depth Open Storage Box?
I want a 3600 size (11"x7"ish) storage box that is double depth and has no dividers, for keeping packs of soft plastics. Does anybody make one? I found the Plano 3630 that is double depth but has dividers. And then, I found the Plano 3607 that has no dividers, but is single depth. I found this: Plano 3600 Field Box, but it is expensive and overbuilt for what I need. Doesn't have to be Plano, that's just what I have found closest to what I want. My current boxes are BPS brand that came with my Browning tackle bag.

Better Hook Sets?
The reason for the different hookset with crankbaits is because the lure has so much resistance moving through the water. You already have the rod and line loaded with the tension of the crankbait moving through the water, so there is no slack in the rod or line to take up to get a good hookset. You just need to sweep the rod to give it that little extra for the hooks to penetrate. With pretty much every other bait, the line and rod are not under tension, so there is a lot of slack and stretch to overcome to get that energy into the hook point to penetrate the fish.

Better Hook Sets?
I always yank it pretty good to set the hook, no matter what I have tied on. Make sure you don't let the line go slack at all until your thumb is in his mouth.

Why Use 50+ Pound Braid?
Big game is actually not that bad. Pretty abrasion resistant. It just stretches like a rubber band.

Gotta Get Fit
Diet is 80% of losing weight. My wife and I use MyFitnessPal. It makes it easy. It really works too, I have lost nearly 20 lbs and she has lost 30, over about 8 months, but you can go faster. Our goal was 1 pound per week. It's simply about the calories you take in vs the calories you burn. Burn more than you take in, you lose weight.

Battery For An Elite-4 Dsi?
I guess that depends on the trolling motor. I have my Elite-4x HDI on my trolling motor battery and haven't noticed any issues at all. I have a Minn Kota Edge.
