  1. what brand and what lb test are you using? Also let it sit on the reel for a few days before you use it. When you first put it on the line has the memory from the spool it came on which is much bigger than the reel so it flies off all over the place. Letting it sit will give the line time to adjust to the reel. You will still have memory but it will be much more controlable. I would recommend 8# test on a spinning reel. I put 8 and 10 trilene pro grade on this year but I haven't used 10# on a spinning reel yet.
  2. I am looking to get a pair of new shades. I had a pair of CDM's with the 580 lenses and was thinking about getting another pair. I have also heard good things about the green solar bat lenses. Has anyone tried both of them that can say which ones were better for fishing?
  3. practice in your yard. It can be tough to learn on the water and you get much more frustrated on the water. Start with a close target (10' or somewhere around there) and move then move the target a few feet farther etc. Once you get that down set the target at different distances, if you pitch to the same distance every time it will be easy since you can adjust until you get it then just repeat but when you have to change on ever pitch it fine tunes your skills. i also like the cast control knob really loose and use my thumb.
  4. My GF caught a 6.7lber last year that had a mouth like that. It beat my PB by a pound but I'm happy she caught it instead of me (atleast thats what i tell myself).
  5. great ty for the advice.
  6. I wish they tested it on spinning gear too. I put the 12lb on a casting rod last night and I was very impressed with the strength, knot strength and the difference in stretch from mono. I am a little concerned about putting it on a spinning rod but I am going to try the 10 lb on a spinning rod. Unfortunatly I won't get to try this until next week.
  7. thanks. What jig heads are the best for skipping?
  8. I am looking to make weedless Jig preferably with Gamagatsu or Owner hooks.
  9. I ordered a bunch of skirts for jigs and spinnerbaits. What are some good weedless jig heads to use with the skirts?
  10. has a test been done to determine break strength of the trilene pro fluoro?
  11. I am going to BPS tonight to get some of the Trilene Pro Fluoro. I was going to get 10# for the extra strength since 10# Fluoro should be as undetectable as 8# but I wanted to get some input here 1st before i go ahead with it.
  12. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=58458&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I have a few of the crankbait rods on the link. I like them a lot.
  13. most people seem to use fluoro now to get them to run a little deeper. Mono has more stretch though which is good to keep the treble hooks from ripping out. If your going to use fluoro I would suggest a med action rod.
  14. Since skipping is for dock fishing i would go with MH to get the fish out from under the dock quicker.
  15. nitrogen comes from dying plants, fish, fish waste etc. As it breaks down it creates ammonia in the water which is broken down by a bacteria and turned into nitrites which is broken down by another bacteria and turned into nitrates. Aquatic plants and algea feed on the nitrates. This is why you need to do water changes in fish tanks, there are no plants to break down the nitrates so you have to manually remove them. To answer your question though you don't need to worry about nitrogen in the water, the ecosystem always balances things out. More nitrogen means more plants and algea in the water.
  16. Ok so i wasn't dreaming then. I also read that it is because fluoro cuts through itself on a palomer knot
  17. I got the book yesterday and i'm about 1/2 way through it. So far I must say it is a great book. Knowing how and why bass do what the do and how and why they react to their environment...................do i really need to say more? If you have the time i would highly recommend it.
  18. The palomar knot it is then! I heard it didn't work well with fluoro but I never looked into it much since i never used it. Its the knot I always use so i'm glad to hear that. Thanks for the help again guys.
  19. What is the best knot to use with Fluoro. I'm going to use fluoro this year almost excusivly this year. I know not to use a palomer knot and have had pretty good results with the trilene knot. Is the trilene knot the standard for Fluoro?
  20. its called a mojo rig. a finesse carolina rig with lighter weights and smaller baits but you can use whatever you want.
  21. I have decided on 20lb hybrid. I had 17lb vanish last year but it had to much memory.
  22. I'll be river fishing for smallies a lot this year too. I guess my biggest thing is seasonal movements on a river. Will the be deep even though there is current and have the same patterns as on a lake?
  23. I have both series and the masters series and some of these DVD's are really informative, the best i've seen actually. I heard somewhere a while ago they were filming a new season, has anyone heard anything about that or know when/if it will be released?
