  1. I've done well with both. I use Bluegill and baby bass.
  2. Not to be rude, but if you can't afford a spool of FC, how do you afford to even drive to the lake? Seaguar Red Label runs around $10-11 a spool.
  3. 3.5 mph, man that's fast for trolling. I do a good bit of trolling for walleye, and we always catch bass along the way, and it seems that 0.8 - 1.2 mph is the golden speed zone for trolling. Any faster and we don't get anything, any slower and the baits don't work or dive properly.
  4. You can have a gas outboard, but you can only run the electric motor. Shawnee has gone downhill over the years. Mostly just dinks in there as of lately.
  5. This year I've learned how to better find fish on my own. I've also expanded my fishing arsenal, and gotten a lot better at fishing with frogs, plastics, and jerkbaits. I also got into musky fishing and managed to catch my first one of those.
  6. I'm a big fan of Suffix 832. I don't like how rough and noisy PowerPro is, and it seems to give me more backlash problems than anything else.
  7. I've been told it's a 60/40 split, but the left handed reels definitely aren't on 40% of the market. Just another reason why I love Shimano.
  8. Great picture. Is that Lake Ontario? We got a good bit of rain here in Pittsburgh today. Any rain up your way?
  9. I seem to catch them on Shad Raps more than anything.
  10. Depends what I'm doing and what I'm fishing. If I'm coming up on a laydown tree at the edge of the water, I might make a cast or two with a buzzbait or a popper. If no luck, I'll flip a jig or plastic in there once I get closer, for 4 or 5 pitches. If that doesn't work, I'll take a crankbait or jerkbait and drag it by it for 2-3 casts. And if that doesn't work, I'll make a mental note and move on. If it's a spot that I've caught fish at before, I'll probably stop back there later in the day. Now if I'm fishing a big weed flat, or say a deep ledge, I may fish the same lure for 10-15 minutes or so until I change up my presentation or color.
  11. Pulaski adds another 2.5 hours of driving onto an already 4 hour drive
  12. I think Diawa makes a ML casting rod in the Tatula series. I've always heard good things about those rods.
  13. I'm looking to make the trip up to the Buffalo/Rochester New York area here soon for the fall salmon run. I know the steelhead are starting to run at Erie, but I haven't heard anything on the Salmon yet. Does anyone from the area want to give me a heads up on what they're doing?
  14. Mostly just line with a hook or a simple jig, and a few spinners. I have snagged a couple rods somehow over the years.
  15. Love my 2014 Crucial 7' M-M cranking rod

^^^That's about all there is to modifying them. They're a pretty basic lure.
  17. Like many others, I'll admit that the Spro Bronzeye and the Booyah Pad Crasher's are nice. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention the *** Lunker Frogs. They're the most realistic looking frog I've ever used, they work great, the hooks are very sharp right out of the package, and they're very soft with a good hookup ratio as well.
  18. How long does it take a plastic bag or bottle to breakdown??? Same theory really.
  19. Whats everyone's thoughts on the St. Croix Avid X rods? Has anyone used one? Seems the same as the Avid's, but with a new paint job, different guides and and a split handle. I'd like to get some opinions. I'm looking for a another MH rod for the arsenal.
  20. I'm not aware of any. If you're trying to catch a lot of bass, the rivers aren't the best place to go...
  21. Shimano Chronarch ci4. Just bought my third one last week.
