  1. Great work as always LBH, For a great cause to job well done...
  2. Well its getting cold out here in NH, and this past Sunday I got out and it was no exception. I had to break through some Ice at the ramp and the cove that the launch is in. My partner gave me the "you ever hear of that boat named the Titanic, look." I need to punch a path in the ice about 50ft long. The fish for the temps were biting but we didnt get many bites. I ended up catching 9 and my partner boated 6. He got the biggest of the day at approx 2.5lbs. All our bites save 3 came on dead sticking plastics in 10-20ft. The other 3 came on blade baits pumped over deeper breaks and flats in the 15-25ft zone. If we dont get a warm up soon its going to be all done by Thanksgiving, in my opinion. Anyway I'll leave you with a nice bone chilling pic of my graph with a temp reading...

  4. I went out today... If it aint over in NH it certainly aint over in RI... Get out there and stick em!
  5. Well any process where you convert one form of energy to another will lose a percentage thats just a given. My electricity in my home comes from a Nuclear Power Plant, so most electricity comes from coal or hydro sources but not all of it. I didnt say it was fool proof but it is being used. Granted Iceland is a small country population wise, they are doing something about it. I just dont see any party any leader doing much about this problem. I mean dont look towards the oil companies to do anything they are happy making their record profits. Dont look to the auto makers that would cost them millions of dollars to retool. While in this gas crunch most are still wondering what to do with all the SUVs. Yes, any other type of fuel is going to mean reworking the current infrastructure, that is also pretty much unavoidable. Hybrids still use Gas. The markup for these vehicles means that you would nearly have to keep this vehicle on the road for several years before you start to see any of the savings from the hybrid technology. If and when I am in the market for a new truck I will look into the "grease" cars and see how economical it is too convert a diesel truck to use the so called "grease". As fishermen and some of us I am guessing own boats. There are a very few options in a hybrid to be used as a tow vehicle. Raul and Tyrius what do you see as an alternative?
  6. I think what allot of people are missing is that alternative fuels do exist. Im speaking mainly of Hydrogen power. The technology is real as well as the cars that are using it. It is being used in Iceland, read about it here. Yet our country is all hung up on Hybrid technology while being more efficient than gas only cars, they are still using gasoline. The other upside of the hydrogen fuel cells is that only emissions to come out the tail pipe is water, which would cut down on harmful emissions.
  7. Great Post as always Catt very informative. You Southern Boys have it really good, in NH Im looking at possibly another 3-5 weeks of fishing left of the season. Which means about 3-5 days out on the water, before it starts to get crunchy. I find my winter/cold water jigging tactics end up becoming almost dead sticking to just dragging it on the bottom, No shaking, No hooping just drag it, the fish will tell you how long to drag it and how long the pauses in between should be.
  8. Sorry to hear of the rough times going on with you LBH right now. Chin up, things will turn around and get better, they always do...
  9. AFC Championship goes through Foxboro, Ma. After winning at Indy I honestly dont see the Patriots losing...
  10. Facts are Facts. They were video taping, Fact. They got caught, Fact. The equipment was confiscated in the 1st half of the 1st Qtr, Fact. The NFL fined the team and the coach for their wrong doing, Fact. The Patriots are still credited with the win, Fact. The Patriots are 9-0 they are really good, Fact. The Jets are 1-8 they are not good, Fact. They will meet again Dec 16th in Foxboro, Fact. We will see if the Patriots really needed the cameras then, Fact.
  11. Welcome Back...
  12. Would be a good time for some leaders (on either side Democrat or Republican) in this country to stand up. Try and push for a viable alternative fuel source. We as a country as it is clearly obvious are too dependent on oil whether it be foreign or domestic. An Alternative fuel source is the way to go here I believe. It appears that we have not learned the lesson that the Fuel Crisis of the 1970s taught us. If that is true were are doomed to repeat it, which it looks like where we are headed. What I feel we need to do is start implementing some alternative fuels. The automobile is a start but people often forget that we need to heat/cool our homes too. Home heating oil here in the Northeast is $3.00/gal, which over last year is up almost $1.00/gal. There are rumors that people are going to be on the verge of going cold this year because of the high costs. They are hoping on a mild winter, if not some people might be left in the cold. Yet nothing seems to be done about finding a better energy source for our country. We need some leadership, plain and simple. JFK made the bold step of starting the ball rolling, on getting a man on the moon in under 10yrs. Its been 30yrs since the Fuel Crisis of the 1970s, where are we now?
  13. It was at Cobbets Pond. I did some research and it does look like Brown Trout spawn in the fall. You can read more about it here... Its starting to get pretty cold now in our NH waters. I was out 2 weeks ago and the water temps were 55°F. I am pretty sure with the cooler temps and all the rain its cooled off some more. Id guess we are looking at water in the 40-50°F range now. Anyone still getting out on the water? I plan on getting out on Sunday. Tight lines everyone.
  14. No matter what team you were cheering for. This has to be one of the poorest called game I have seen in awhile. The Refs were terrible. The 1st incident was the completion of the Colts receiver on the sideline the line judges were on either side of the play and didnt get it right and had to be over turned. This pretty much set a tone for how things were going to go the rest of the game. The 2 pass interference calls one was marginal at best, the other was ridiculous. The offensive pass interference against Moss was pathetic. The last was the NON call on the play to Kevin Faulk that ended the Pats drive. These calls were terrible period. The other calls were easily seen and very much so deserved. I hope if these 2 teams meet up again they will have a better referee team than this one...
  15. Well look at the Jets they were the AFC WC in the playoffs last year now look at them. They made no big moves in the off season lost nobody of great importance. Yet they are playing terrible, only Miami is worse in the AFC East they havent been formidable since they lost Ricky Williams.
  16. In the Sports World today too many times does the spotlight get brought to rest on people like Arod, Roger Clemens, and Scott Boras who care nothing but themselves and how much money they can get. I want to give Kudos to a guy who goes out of his way. So I hope that people read it and come away with the notion of this guy is a Class Act. You can read about it here.
  17. Im a huge Patriots fan Im sure everyone knows that by now. To have some posters say that the Colts havent played anyone is being absurd. Tennessee and Jacksonville are two good teams that play hard smashmouth football, they are both in the Colts Div. Other who have said that we have depth at RB need to read up. Maroney is banged up but will play and Morris is out with a chest injury, Addai is a beast. I do feel the Patriots will win but to say that Indy has no chance is absurd. The start of the season there where 4 games that worried me that the Patriots had on their schedule. This was the Biggest worry I had going inside the dome to play Indy. The other were Chargers, Cowboys, Steelers. It will be a great game, I cant wait.
  18. I must agree I dont find the Zara Spook hard to work at all thought it was rather easy actually. It has easily become my favorite topwater lure and when fishing topwater my confidence goto bait. I use a 5:1:1 Abu Garcia 4601 C3 reel, lined with 15lb Pline CXXXtra Strong Line, on a Castaway Topwater Bait Special rod 6ft 6in medium action. I believe that adding a split ring on the front of the Spook might actually interfere with the action. Im convinced that you do want to have some stretch in the line and I think Braid doesnt give you that so I wouldnt put it on my topwater rig, since Fluro sinks faster than Mono I wouldnt use that either. I fish LH reels but I usually hold my hand on the reel pretty stationary and with the the other hand jerk the rod and in doing so make a circular motion that revolves the reel around the non moving reel handled hand. probably doesnt make any sense but Id have to make a video of it or something. Lastly REMEMBER THE PAUSES!!!
  19. Look at this guy already trying to stir us up in our moment of glory! Shame on you! I know, I know, Im wondering if he is secretly Arod or Scott Boras... ;D ;D ;D
  20. Boy? Your not a LT fan by any chance are you? ;D ;D ;D Seriously I said it before if the Redskins players didnt like what was going on play better, prepare yourself better. Either the players or coaches or both did a horrid job. I mean who doesnt have a LB on Vrabel when he checks in as an eligible receiver? Yet there he was in the corner of the endzone with nobody on him, wide open. Thats some terrible coaching/playing in my book. So your opinion is that they show no class. My opinion is that they are doing what they are paid to do, win. At the end of the season nobody is going to remember or care how bad these teams lost, its just a L or a W.
  21. Hahaha... After that performance Im pretty confident that the Red Sox will not let Josh Beckett go anywhere to easily. Plus he is under contract till the end of the 2009 season with a team option for the 2010 season. Nice try though.
  22. Im gonna have to disagree with you there. This is pro sports not high school or pop warner football. There is no Mercy Rule. If you dont like what the opposing team is doing stop them, simple enough. I mean if you go that root should the Red Sox have swept the Rockies because it would have made them feel bad? I say we peer back into the history books of the NFL at other dominating offenses. St. Louis Rams they were not hung out to dry for running the score up, rather they were named "The Greatest Show on Turf". Take a look at Peyton Manning's record setting year. Exactly how many of his TDs were made when the score was still close? He only became every advertisers dream pitch boy. Since the Washington Redskins couldnt stop the New England Patriots offense, the starters where on the bench on that last TD. Lets go ahead and make some "New" rules for the Patriots too play by so nobodies feelings get hurt. These new rules should be adopted immediately by Mr Goodell. In the hopes that Patriot opponents who are payed to get mean and physical wont get their feelings hurt. 1) Belichick must coach from home from now on, using only smoke signals to communicate with the team. 2) Brady can only play every other possession, Vrabel will act as QB when Brady is not in (this way he can no longer score TDs EVERY time he plays offense). 3) Moss can be interfered with endlessly and without penalty. 4) On possessions that Brady is in, the Patriots can only have 9 men on the field (and Vrabel cannot play on those possessions). 5) The Patriots are no longer qualified to intercept passes or pick up fumbled balls. 6) When the Patriots go up by 24 points, they can no longer play offense, the other team plays offense, scoring as many points as needed until it is tied again, at which point the Patriots can resume offensive possessions. 7) After each win, as a gesture of respect, the Patriots will offer to do the other teams laundry. 8) All cameras must be turned off on the Patriots sideline and the coaches must also be blindfolded for the duration of the game. I feel that these rule changes would drastically stop the Patriots opponents from getting their feelings hurt. If any of you feel I have left out some important rules please feel free to add them...
  23. Go even farther back LBH, So wasnt Ted Williams...
  24. The previews and trailers for CoD4 look unbelievable, definietly looking forward to that....
