UPS and Fishing Rods (A Nasty Combo)
Well I filed the paper work as well as some Photos of the rods and tube. I know its inevitable but just s@#ks when it happens thats all. Its not like I am never going to order rods and have them shipped I guess the lesson learned here is Insure away and keep your receipts, or have some friends behind the counter of your favorite tackle store.

PROPERLY TRIMMING THE MOTOR
I was told by my Uncle who owns a Marina that you keep your trim all the way down on hole shots. When up on plane trim the motor so the steering does not turn by itself left or right it stays straight. It may not be the perfect and precise way of doing it but it works for me.

Ranger & Triton Responses on G-Man's Classic DQ
No idea what the rules of the water are in your state but in the state of NH. This was taught to me in a boaters safety course which is now standard for operators to pass to register their boats in the state. Since it is a national accreditation I am guessing its the norm in most states as well. This is just common courtesy, common sense, and the LAW. Tournaments do not take precedent over public safety or boating laws and I am sure everyone on this board and even Swindle will agree with me on that one.

Search and Follow-up Baits
I agree with the previous posters its whatever you have the most confidence in. I would put a single tail GYCB grub or a tube and pitch it out there as well. The other scenario is that maybe it wasnt the right speed. I have had many blow ups on a zara spook. I kept working it faster and faster until I caught the bugger. I then changed to a prop bait and started to catch fish where I previously hadnt with the zara spook. So you might have got a bump on a chatterbait what about throwing a spinnerbait or a jerkbait. Just Ideas...

Some Jig Rod Input guys???
Well as some of you know I am going to be in the market for a new Jig Rod thanks to UPS. I have had the Castaway HG40 JWMH610 rod its a telescopic 6ft 10in rod in a fast Medium/heavy range, I am extremely happy with it. I do most of my jig fishing with this rod on it I fish with my TD-Z left hand reel and 17lb CXXX Strong Moss green Pline. Now this rod sees no other lure than a 1/4oz Jig with a pork or GYCB trailer on it. However I am intrigued by Gloomis and Kistler rods, I know most of you here on the boards are partial to the Gloomis but I was wondering if I could get any input from any of you that had thrown with both. the Rods I would be looking at would be the: G-Loomis BCR803 6' 8", Medium-Heavy Power, Extra-Fast Action G-Loomis BCR804 6' 8", Heavy Power, Fast Action Kistler Helium LTA He69APC 6 ft 9 inch Medium Heavy Fast Action Kistler Helium LTA He69HC 6 ft 9 inch Heavy Fast Action

Bill Dance Complete Bass Fishing Course
Heh I couldnt agree with you more on this one. I know he is a good angler but seriously anyone of us who posts on this forum can catch lunkers in a small privately stocked, protected, private pond. I personally never seen him fish anywhere but private lakes. Thats why I have a lil bit more respect for the other TV shows that go to public waters to do there TV shows.

UPS and Fishing Rods (A Nasty Combo)
Funny thing is I have a cardboard rod tube sitting in the rafters in the attic, I actually figured this would be a better alternative. Its stronger and rigid. I packed each end in newspaper and wrapped the rods in newspaper. For them to put a crack that ran the length of the cap had to have been a hard throw or a pretty bad drop. Im just glad I got my gear insured. I am now hoping for a hassle free claim process to get me back where I was before my vacation. Since I hope ice out here is going to happen within the month.

UPS and Fishing Rods (A Nasty Combo)
Well I thought I had made the "Indestructible" shipping rod tube, I was wrong. I started off with a 10ft section of schedule 40 PVC. I cut this down to 6ft 8 in I then got a solid end cap and used the pvc cleaner and glue to seal it. The other end I used a threaded cap and a thread insert to seal that up that I yet again sealed with pvc cleaner and glue. I packed each end with paper and packed the rods tip to butt tip to butt. Well I shipped it down to South Carolina and I insured it for $1000. Well I signed for it down in South Carolina at the place I was staying and got a very uneasy feeling in my stomach when I notice that the threaded cap I had put on was completely loose and cracked from one end to the other. I unpacked the rods and one spinning rod had the tip broke and one bait caster rod had one of the ceramic insert guides knocked out of the eye guide. Well I am giving my local UPS store a call to start a claim for 2 new rods I will let you all know how I make out. I honestly dont know what more I could have done to prevent this kind of damage.

Powder Paint Fluid Bed Questions??????
I might just give this a try I just bought a 10ft length of 3" PVC for creating a shippable rod tube for my rods to send down to SC. So I have a 3ft piece of 3" PVC as scrap lying around. Do you guys heat the jigs up in a toaster oven? If so for how long and at what temperature? As you may well remember I am toying around with the idea of starting to pour my own jigs.

Powder Paint Fluid Bed Questions??????
Ahhh I thought so. So if the goal is to get a lil more vibration the air pump from a local pet shop affixed to the same board as your fluid bed would/should do the trick. They have quite a bit of vibration to them.

Powder Paint Fluid Bed Questions??????
Ahhh Thank you... So preheated jigs into the powder paint. Now for weedless jigs I am guessing that you would add the weed guard on after you added the paint so as not to melt the plastic weed guard.
