Aaron Martens quote about fluo & palomar knots
My friend showed me a knot when I first got into fishing he called it the "G Knot" been using it ever since I just googled it and cant seem to find any instructions for it, its very similar to a Palomar knot and I have great luck with it.

You know you've got it bad when...
Lakes up here have been solid since the new year I was able to sneak out on Jan 7th with me breaking through Ice, but now its been weeks since the Temp has been over 32°F. The Ice Id guess would be at +12in. Thankfully Im heading to South Carolina to squeeze in some fishing in 2 weeks. Then hopefully its just another month till its Ice out time. I feel though that its gonna be a late start to things maybe mid April???

Abu Garcia 4601 Question...
Hey all, I had a brain fart the other day, I was going to run it by you guys on the boards to see if it made sense to you as well. I am the happy owner of 4 Abu Garcia 4601 C4 Reels, I however came to the unhappy truth that Abu Garcia no longer makes the 4601 size in the 6:3:1 C4 series. But they do make a 4601 size in the 5:3:1 C3 series. So if these reels are the same size is it possible to take the gearing from a 4600 C4 reel and throw it into a 4601 C3 reel, to make that reel a 6:3:1 gearing reel? I was just thinking hypothetically if one of my reels wasnt able to be repaired could I purchase a 4601 C3 rel and got to a reel repair shop and have him switch out the gearing. Does that make sense?

Favorite rod brand- vote here:
I have tried the GLoomis and the Kistler very nice rods extremely light and sensitive and nice backbone. However these rods are pretty expensive and they were not on the list of choices I was aware of when I did the majority of my Rod buying. My rod arsenal consists mainly of Castaway Rods (22) and All-Star Rods (4) exclusively.

Jig Hook Line Ties???
Just wanted to gauge what people were using/pouring out there for Jig Hook line ties. I personally like the Offset Line tie, but many of my friends feel that they are prone to hangups in heavy wooded cover.

Jig Head Mold Question...
I am looking for what seems to be an elusive jig head mold. The best way to describe it via text is a "Narrow Arkie Style head". The Catch'em Jigs are made with this same head, I however cant find a mold for it. I have included some pictures

Fishin show or 30min infomercial?
I personally think Bill Dance is the worst offender seemed like every other commercial was him plugging away WalMart. The other funny thing about Bill Dance is he never fishes a public lake ever. Next time you see a show look around never a dock or a house nearby or another boat. All private lakes, anyone can haul freight when your fishing a private stocked lake that gets no pressure.

best jigs
I am pretty picky about my jigs. Most important if it doesnt have a gamakatsu hook Im not throwing it period. I also like an inverted line tie on my hooks (perpendicular to the shank of the hook). My favorite Jigs are HI-TEK GMW Jigs also I throw the LunkLure RattleBack Jig, and the Catch'em Jig with Living Rubber Skirt.

spinnerbait wire/tackle storage
Personally I think I may have more SpinnerBaits than most local tackle stores do. I keep all my SpinnerBaits and BuzzBaits in one Plano Magnum Worm Wrap Binder. I keep the BuzzBaits in one insert binder bag. I keep the SpinnerBaits seperated by size and color. 1/4oz SpinnerBaits with white and or shad colored skirts are in one insert binder bag, 1/4oz SpinnerBaits with Chartreuse and white, Chartreuse, or FireTiger are in another insert binder bag. The same goes for the 1/2 oz SpinnerBaits. I also have 1 insert binder bag exclusively for Night SpinnerBaits whether it be colorado or thumper willow leaf blades. I have another insert binder bag strictly for +1oz SpinnerBaits for those deep slow rolling applications. I have another insert binder for Kalins grubs for trailers in white, clear w/glitter, chartreuse, black w/glitter. I have yet another insert binder bag with extra skirts, blades, swivels, and trailer hooks. So thats how I keep my SpinnerBaits and BuzzBaits, I hope this helps and yes the whole bag weights about 3-5 lbs. :)

spider grubs/jigs- how do you fish them?
I fish them mainly on 1/4oz weedless football jig heads in 0-10ft of water, just like a jig a lil shaking here a pop or two there. In deeper water or on windy days I go to a 3/8oz weedless football jig head or if the situations dictate I will move upto to a 1/2oz weedless football jig head. I dont go to heavy for allot of strikes I get are coming on the fall, where a heavier jig just might fall to fast. I fish them all on a Diawa TDX left hand reel on a All Star BCM 6' 6" Medium Rod with 15lb Pline CXX Strong or Berkely Vanish Fluorocarbon 15lb.

Scale
I myself have passed the point of becoming completely frustrated with digital scales. I have not come acrossed one that has performed upto my standards as of yet. It seems that these companies put these out only to last 1 season. I have had a scale from Stren, Berkley, Rapala all of them lasted 1 year or less. I looked up on the Salter Digital Scale on Cabelas site, not a raving review. I'll look into the Xtools scale, at first glance $70 seems a tad pricey for a Digi Scale if it lasts its worth it I guess. I just wish these things were more dependable than they have been for me lately.

Line watching
It took me awhile to learn how to jig fish, so I thought. I didnt know what a subtle strike felt like. Until 45mins with a very experienced Jig fishermen fishing from shore turned the light on, and helped me out. Watching your line is important but also being experienced in how your line reacts in the water is as well. My friends jokingly call the line I use "Piano Wire" I use PLine CXX Strong 17-20lb. I know how that line sinks how it feels in the cover I fish. All important factors I think. Another thing is know your surroundings. If your fishing in 6ft of water and you cast towards the shore, and your lure falls upwards of 8ft, set the hook, odds are something is swimming away with it. As Denny Brauer once said "Know what your lure is doing at all times, if at any time you cant feel it or it feels funny Set the Hook!"

Best Flippin Jigs....?
I throw the Lunker Lure triple rattleback jigs never had a problem. I use the smaller single rattleback jigs for pitching and I really like those.

ice out bass
1/2oz SpinnerBait with downsized willow leafs burned back to the boat, or a 1/8oz ball head jig with a 4.5in or 6.5in GYCB Kut Tail Worm. I have caught fish in water that we had to breakthrough to get out onto the main lake, low water temps in the 35°F range.

Very Important Tip!!!!
Ouch....

T-rig tip
I personally use Top Brass Tackles Peg-It system. Its basically a conical shaped peice of rubber that slides into the bullet weight with the line. Pull it until it becomes snug and clip off the excess, and your good to go. You can take a look at them here.
