I was concerned about weedguards as well when I first started fishing jigs, but I don't worry about it. If you clamp down on the jig with your fingers, it doesn't take much to poke yourself through the weedguard. As long as you set the hook well, it shouldn't be a problem.

Get a custom made.

Jig, dropshot, senko, trick worm, ned rig, topwater, etc. Just fish it.

I got a TON of stuff. About $40.00 worth of new stuff, just some terminal tackle and scents and stuff, and then a bunch of used stuff that I was going to buy but ended up getting for free instead. I'll take it . Pics to come once everything I got does.

In open water, I would make the switch to a popping frog before abandoning the idea altogether, but I probably would end up up doing the latter.

I don't mind either, but I prefer the closed, especially when tying a Palomar.

I love shooting a 45, but that's just a personal thing. I would see if you could try out both a 9mm and a 45 from a friend. That would help make your decision.

I have a cart on TW with about $25.00 worth of stuff, I'm buying some stuff used from a friend for $20.00, and I spent about $18.00 at Walmart yesterday. Not sure if I'll end up buying all of it or not, but I probably will

I rarely throw one, but when I do it's a KVD 1.5. Soometimes a Rick Clunn too.

It's much easier to do this time of year: grab a machete or an axe and whack yourself 5-6 + good places around the pond.
