  1. If he gets a "large" TM like he said in his original post, I can assume he is talking about a 24v TM. I know from having a 12v TM on my little jon (back when I was a youngin') that running a boat on just a TM drains batteries real quick. I use to carry 3 12v batteries on my trips and ran 2 batteries dead and the 3rd half drained. That is with me, a friend and all the gear we carried. Not to mention 2 breakfasts, lunches and dinners. That is what I'm talking about.
  2. I would question how old the mercury is. If its very old and in poor condition you would be better off buying new. You can get a new 6 hp outboard for about a grand. If it was me, I'd get a new motor and put a smaller (and cheaper) trolling motor next to it. A big TM on a small jon means carrying 4 batteries, possibly 6 depending on how big the lake and how long you fish cause you will be using it as your only source of moving the boat. With an outboard you will use the motor to move you close to the places you want to fish and use the TM to get you on the spots. Nobody could tell you the price of a used motor without looking at the motor first. If it looks like its been through the ringer, it ain't gonna be worth much.
  3. I forgot all about that. Wow, talk about a blast from the past. I remember thinking that Alzado fought like a 9 yr old kid fighting his dad.
  4. Welcome to the forum and its nice to add another PA angler to the board. Soon we will take over the whole place. After that, bleenies and Yuengling beer for everyone.
  5. ^^^^This. Money talks. Mike was amazing in his younger years. His speed and power were phenomenal. Unfortunately, he fought a lot of tomato cans because, at the time, the heavyweight division was not as great as it once was.
  6. Actually he has enough money to pay off his taxes now easily. IMHO it is about a payday for both fighters. If someone told you they would pay you 100 million to do something you'll been doing for years, wouldn't you take it.
  7. I own 3 pro guide Cabelas rods and think that for a inexpensive rod you can't beat them. My first one was a med/light trout rod. My other rods are a 6'6" med/heavy and a 7'2" med/heavy.
  8. I thought it was funny that Mayweather and McGregor had to agree on the weight of the gloves. But I agree that he wouldn't have taken the fight if he didn't know he was gonna win. I think Mayweather is such a good promoter (of himself) that he is gonna make sure that McGregor at least looks like he can box. He's got 100 million+ reasons to make sure this is a entertaining fight.
  9. Just watched the Mayweather vs. McGregor press conference and was wondering who's your fighter? I'm thinking Mayweather in 5 rounds.
  10. Oh those smallies love clippers. They smack them big. Even the little guys get into the action.
  11. Happens to me on the Susquehanna river. Mid summer is always the toughest time. Fish feed mostly at night and if you aren't a nighttime fisherman you just can't seem to get a bite. That's when I start flipping up rocks and catching hellgrammites and crawfish. I've done this since I was a kid. If it works, do it.
  12. I know that Pinchot has grass mats running along the shore. I would start early in the day and throw topwater frogs over that grass. Just some random advice. I haven't fished it but have hiked around the lake. When I saw those grass mats first thing I thought about was a frog early in the day. To answer your 2nd post, deep drop offs can hold bass in the dead of summer. If a drop off comes up to a big, shallow flat that is good too.
  13. For me its the time spent outside. It takes me back to a time when I was much younger and life was simpler for me. The catching part is not that important. Some of my best days have been tough days because its given me an chance to look around and notice nature. Simple things like a heron wading for a meal or a raccoon scurrying up a bank. And yea, it beats work hands down.
  14. Except for the 14 yr. old part, I got a friend who is very much like that description. He got skunked for a whole day because he wouldn't stop throwing a topwater frog.
  15. I feel your pain. I've had them do that to me more times than I can count. Worst part is it doesn't matter if I'm in a no-wake zone or not. They just buzz past and I get swamped.
  16. From everything I've read (I haven't fished Presque Isle ever) most of the smallies move out of the bay when the water gets hot. LM are probably your best bet in catching numbers. If you target LM look for grass, pads, logs and other cover that would be typical LM haunts.
  17. I got a friend like that. Showed me a pic on his phone of a 4# bass and swore it was 7#. When I stopped laughing I patted him on the head and said "Nice try buddy".
  18. Honestly Mocktopus, from the title of the post I expected something different. Bank robbery, felonious assault, reckless go-cart driving. The rod thing is not a big deal. I got a friend that hold his spinning reel upside down. Sure it drives me crazy but I've learned to deal with it. As far as your daughter catching her first LM, congrats. You just got a fishing buddy.
  19. My suggestion is to try a dropshot rig. If the weight gets hung up it pops off and you don't lose the hook or fish. This will give you an idea if the problem is your lack of experience in rock fishing or if those are really sneaky bass. Either way, don't beat yourself up over it. Experience has been the best teacher for all of us on this forum.
  20. My arthritis effects my whole hand not just a few fingers. Still I wouldn't rule out arthritis. As others have advised, see a doctor. It may be nothing or it may be something. Please be advised, I am neither a doctor nor do I play one on tv. All advice is given with no prior knowledge of medicine or anatomy. Your mileage may vary. MSRP may include, but not limited to, any and all dealer prep or invoice costs.
  21. 7 inch Berkley Power Worm in black with blue fleck. If I'm on a lake that I know has bigger bass I'll go up to a 10 inch version with the same color. Having said all that, I own just about every kind/brand of flipping bait from Missle baits D-bomb to Lake Forks Ring Fry Worm. I should really sell some of the stuff I have.
  22. My colon just did a back flip.
  23. I think Kriet would jump into gator infested water for a catfish. That guy is country to the bone.
  24. Gundog replied to Angealy's topic in Fishing Tackle
Sooo....what are you really trying to say?
  25. Agreed and for now the Cabela's in Hamburg is still open and running some great deals. And if you like cigars there is a Cigar International store in the same shopping area. CI is hopping on friday and saturday nights. Locals pull up in some classic cars and make it a party atmosphere.
