  1. So true about them sitting in the owners tackle box. The are situational baits. But that will not stop the masses from buying them. I'll pass on it. I got enough baits I don't use. Even after I sold off 1/10th of what I own. I gotta stop buying lures.
  2. He has upgraded his techniques. He's not just powerfishing anymore. He is using lures and techniques that he rarely, if ever used before. He adapted.
  3. Fixed it for ya!
  4. I'm going boom or bust on this one. Could be an interesting tourney.
  5. Any bait that I throw "weightless" I throw on a spinning rod just cause its better at tossing light baits. My rod is Med/Heavy with a fast tip but because where I fish isn't extremely weedy I can get away with using mono, not braid. Braid is recommended when fishing extreme slop to pull them out quick before they can wrap you in the weeds.
  6. Cotton Cordell Big O. The 3 inch model in natural crawfish. The wobble catches big smallies in the springtime muddy water.
  7. KVD is a legend, no doubt about that. The fact that he beat second place by 8 pounds was incredible. He kept bringing in big bags for 4 days. That takes a lot of skill.
  8. I really like Kalin's grubs in either 4 or 5 inch. Colors I do well with are char. with silver flake or clear with salt and pepper. How you retrieve them depends on what is working. Sometimes they want a slow retrieve that bounces the bottom and sometimes they prefer a steady retrieve. Good thing about grubs is they are inexpensive so you can buy a good selection of colors and see what the fish want.
  9. Kudos to Keri & Glenn and all who have posted and lurked. Information can be found, opinions can be heard, and small fish will be laughed at.
  10. Totally misjudged the weight they were gonna pull in. On my fantasy roster the weight I put down for 4 days was less than that.
  11. Wow, did not see Hartman coming on so strong. Now I'm glad I had him on my roster.
  12. That should just buff right out. No problem.
  13. Why did I pick Zaldain? Why?

I'd probably just find something else to do instead of fishing that day on that lake. I've only once been on a body of water that was holding a tournament. Fortunately, it was a small, local contest and if it weren't for the yellow ribbons on the trolling motors I wouldn't have even known it was going on. I can usually find fish without following a crowd, or jumping on someone's spot so poaching is not even a consideration.

    Stay safe!
  16. Ugghh....I dropped Lefebre to pick up Hartman.
  17. My pics are KVD, Hartman, Powroznik, JVD, and Zaldain.
  18. I just looked up lightning indicators and found one for only $20. Not sure how good it works but it sounds like something worth investing in. I've been caught in a few storms over the years but if I see lightning I head for land.
  19. SEE, SEE....its not just us hillbillies that get ubduckted!!!! Get the shotguns, grab the dog, kiss your cousin goodbye. Its all over man.
  20. Above ground = lucky. My father and grandfather both died young. My dad at 56 and my granddad at 50. I'm still kicking and can still enjoy a day out on the water. Good enough for me.
  21. In addition to Sam's advice you may also want to contact a nearby college that has a environmental studies program. They may be able to help.
  22. I think that is the draw for most people too. Pure entertainment. Seeing what happens when you put a MMA fighter in a ring with a boxer. In the early days of UFC you had such matchups but it was in an octagon with MMA rules. Usually the guy with judo/jujutsu training won because he could easily take the boxer to the ground and wrap him up. But this is a different situation with a non-traditional boxer in McGregor having to box Mayweather. I may not buy the ppv but will definitely be interested in the outcome.
  23. Tie between Casablanca and Key Largo. Both are great movies.
  24. Nice lookin' hawgs you got up there.
  25. Sadly, those same promoters really ripped off boxers. I heard Mike Tyson talk about Don King and you can hear the anger towards him in his voice. I don't think Don King ever thought about the future of boxing or even the future of the fighters he promoted. He only thought about the money he was making and how to make more. Keep in mind, during the 80's and into the 90's a fighter couldn't get a title shot unless he had Don King behind him. Also King has been sued by a who's who of fighters. Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and Tim Witherspoon. All for not paying fighters what was promised. How can a sport thrive or even survive with corruption like that.
