  1. They better not be, i'll make a yum dinger run like all these ole' ladies do for "BREAD AND MILK!" When snow comes in... Bread and milk!!
  2. I only fish one bait caster. Ugly Stick 7' MH. It does everything, and most important to us sub 10' boat guys, IT TAKES EVERY BIT OF ABUSE YOU THROW AT IT. (Cheap rod, but darn good rod, lacking in no way)
  3. I like to scout new fishing holes if fuel permits, Improvements on my poor man boats.., Improvements on all my gear, rods/ reels/ terminal tackle. I still sneak a few trips in over the winter regardless, usually rewarding too, many times winter water is drawn down real low- take your camera.
  4. I'm a simpleton i suppose. I see no need to spend over $75 on any bait-casting reel for bass fishing. I had to slash my bass fishing budget years back (2008 ) and i didn't catch any fewer fish, i just spent less money. (Leaves money for a nice sit down meal on the drive home)
  5. Theres a big difference between a shad swimming in front of the big bass and a fluke, the fluke looks much better, LOL
  6. Palomar for everything, "Palomar Nation"!!
  7. When your in wind think spinnerbait.
  8. I fish ONE 7' MH Ugly Stick baitcasting rod and ONE MH Ugly Stick open face rod, and thats all i have ever needed. I fish with guys that always have nine rods out on the deck and it makes a 21' boat feel like a pond hopper. (And the wonder why rod eyes get crushed fighting fish)
  9. Zoom Super Fluke Pearl on a Scrounger Head
  10. Listened to Neil Young on Slacker on the way home last night "Old Man,.. " Right on
  11. LOL, the arch.. People visit and say they want to see the arch, one word standard reply.. WHY? I guess its kind of unique
  12. If it says Zoom Super Fluke
  13. Any David Allan Coe album will do
  14. I viewed the post you linked to, i fail to see anything proprietary with the rig, unless i viewed the wrong link or something. That would be like claiming you had a patent on the freaggin' Texas Rig worm, LOL
  15. I also bring back up tighty whiteys, gotta be prepared
  16. I never leave or attempt to leave without consulting my running to go list, i'm not going to go into detail on it, i will tell you wet ones and t.p. are on it every time though.. Theres just something about getting up to go fishing, going early and guzzling coffee i suppose that really "knocks something loose" about 20 minutes after i launch. LOL
  17. BTW, the smallmouth were avg 2lb, 4~5lb on the high side the winter leading up to the first fish kill.
  18. Akunk, it ~may~ still be an OK smallmouth lake, make no mistake- there are absolutely still smallmouth in it. Here last year or maybe a little further back there were summer to summer back to back fish kills. It was phenominal up unto that point. We would fish it all winter. The cold side of the lake hovers at 52' so that gives you some indication just how warm the warm side is. (Downright hot, i loved it) Not only was the smallmouth fishing world class but the largemouth, white bass, and hybrids, yes hybrids.. Were all fantastic. The hybrids were just pigs. It has been a few seasons since, this winter i plan on getting back at it. The lake has a median depth of 8', its essentially a flooded field vs a lake, IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS OUT THERE... Its almost always windy, thats ok, always seemed to turn em on. Water is ugly, blows my mind that the smallmouth thrived there, but they did~ and to some extent still do i'm sure albeit in fewer numbers. If you hook up with one it will likely be quite large, as the numbers on all bass are down. We always did well on three lures: #1 medium size shad pattern crankbaits, the lake is all riprap, parallel casts ticking and yes hanging up in those boulders is the ticket, you will lose some lures #2 1/2 oz war eagle spinnerbaits in cole slaw, dual willow blades, very good lure there #3 senko senko senko.. Parallel casts dipping into the chunk rock (chartreuse/ white) When you pull up you will think man this is ugly, yep, it is... Dont short change yourself by not giving this lake a few seasons to autocorrect, regardless of re-stocking or not, it will come back There are numerous areas where water is pushed and pulled by the plant, fish them all, troll every bank and note every pipe flowing water, every point with water rushing past from the plant.. hit those spots every time you go. Its 50 hp limit. Folks run what they brung' but be cool about it. You have a 150, launch and troll until your away from the masses.. Thrn respectfully idle around. Can you get a ticket, yea.. But highly unlikely. The area right where you launch gets the worst of the white caps, launch, be patient and ease through them to the opposite side, depending on direction the wind is coming from. (It ALWAYS looks gnarly at the launch, but get 1 mile upwind and you'll find wind sheltered banks) Summer pretty well let it be, it was always best about Dec- March Ten minutes away.. Your killing me.
  19. I fish from two different models. I think they fish quite well. A drift sock is a must. FYI any Intex below Mariner 4 or Seahawk 4 is a thinner material. Take a small Oatey Handy Pack of PVC primer/ glue, you'll be fine. Even when i get a leak, its not a day ender, just fish on and fix it at home.
  20. Senkos and senkos, oh... I almost forgot, senkos
  21. Bush Wildlife would be your best bet. Go to the park office and get a park map. Find the artificial lures only lakes and focus on these. Lake #16 is a good one. You can rent jon boats for the day. Bring a trolling motor and battery. Simpson Lake in Valley Park is a good lake too- you'll need a boat. Murky but good bass and crappie there. Or skip both and fish Pyramid State Park in Illinois and you'll never ask another where should i fish question again- its just that good.
