Daiwa T3 1016 (silver) vs. Tatula CT Type-R
I have both and they are both great reels in their own right. The t3 palms better than any reel I've used. Amazing casting performance too. The ct type r is overall a great performer. The t3 is more fragile (hood) so take that into consideration.

Newbie saltwater fishing
It should match up but be careful and not put too much pressure on the reel. Most GT popping is around reefs where you need PE10-12 line with a good twisted leader or similar. They use heavy drags and ridiculously strong rods to keep the fish from burying down and breaking you off. Those GT poppers are quite expensive. That reel might have issues with locked drag and blistering runs from a GT. Other reef fish like coral trout and makerel should be fine. Good luck.

Newbie saltwater fishing
A GT will destroy that reel. If your going GT fishing, stick to the tried and true reels. Stellas & saltigas. Rods too, carpenter, smith, ripple fisher. Your best bet is going over to another forum like 360tuna, gtpoppin, jignpop etc. look at saltywater tackle. Sami and Paul know their stuff. Kilsong at jignpop probably fishes more than anyone on this planet and has a wealth of knowledge with many different species. He also carries black hole products that have been proven.

Line selection for Bait Finesse System fishing?
Thanks for the correction. The y6 braiding system threw me off. It is good, nonetheless

Daiwa tatula reels
just get the ct model and be done. Palms well. I wear a 7 1/2 glove and can palm the original tats fine. People are just really spoiled nowadays when it comes to size of reels. For $130 the ct type r can't be beat.

Line selection for Bait Finesse System fishing?
20lb original sufix performance braid. 6 carrier braid design I believe. Very "abrasion resistant" compared to other braids. Smooth and tough. All other 8 carrier braids in low poundage (10-20lb) frays way too easy.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Fished this morning from the north island in pirates cove to kites wall. Me and my buddy only managed to catch 5 fish. 4.10lbs being the biggest. Water temp was 65. No schooling activity there. Each fish was scattered. Throwing top water and jerk bait. Did get hammered by a big goo on a dock with my jerkbait. Thought for a minute I was going to be headed to a certified scale. Heartbreaking!

Bass or Multispecies?
I used to fish for bass exclusively but found enjoyment from multi species and techniques. Topwater tuna fishing is my favorite.

Shimano Crucial History?
The first crucial rod I've seen was in the mid 90's, cork handle and green blank with gold trim, top of the line for their baitcasting rods at that time. I have the equivalent in their spinning dept called the scabbard. Both rod series looked to be the same and both priced at $99 in 1995.

newbie in central texas
I was stationed at ft hood for 6 years. 1st cav! There are many great places to fish around the area. Belton and still house are pretty difficult to fish from the bank but can be done. Also lake Buchanan near lampasas is good too. The ponds around ft good are actually excellent for bass. Nolan lake and larned lake near BLORA is pretty good(back in the day these two lakes were used to stock the other lakes on base. They eventually shut down operation and had outside folks bring fish in to stock up). Airfield lake when open is fantastic. My personal favorite was bratcher lake near gray airfield. It's small and overlooked but loaded with nice bass. This info is based on when I was there from 95-2001. Good luck

Rod Tip Ring Fell Off, What should i do?
If the ring popped out and is still intact you can press it back in and use a little epoxy to hold. Make sure to not get on the inside of the ring just where it joins the guide. I've done this and haven't had one pop out after the quick fix.

Calling out Steve Big-O Parks
I fish with hammer rods and the winn grips are amazing. No wonder more rod companies are starting to use them. I've never met anyone that has fished with them that dislikes them. Like them much better than cork or Eva

Medium heavy vs. heavy power options
If your chunkin 1/2 football jigs and trailer, I'd go with the heavy. If just mostly pitchin lighter stuff the med/hvy would work. If pitching in heavy cover go with the heavy. The med/hvy makes a great 3/8 oz worm/jig rig. And would work well with spinnerbaits and Keitex style swimbaits. I'm thoroughly impressed with the zodias series.

trigger x probe worm
Their worms and soft plastics hold up better than any other company I've used except elastatec of course.
-
trigger x probe worm
ebay is the best place for trigger x. They stopped making stuff for bass and seems like they only produce a very limited amount of plastics. Mainly for walleye and such.

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE JIG
Basically get jigs in various weights and same colors in each size. Don't have to get complicated with colors. Like Catt said. Let the fish tell you what they want. Start off what you think is right and make adjustments from there. Sometimes when they're tight to cover(in the middle of brush) you might do better with a heavier jig to get through the small branches and reach them easier even if it's only a few feet deep. For example fishing buck brush in 3-5 ft water, 3/8 oz might fall through the exposed brush and get a few bites but a lot of times when there really deep and tight to the center, a 1/2 or 3/4 oz jig gets on the inside much better and produce way more bites.

Quantum or Shimano
I have both. Still use both. In my opinion they are in the same class. Both cast well, smooth cranking and good drags. Energy cast better & the Curado I palms a little easier. Both will be fine. The energy can be had easy for $99 at Shelton's clothing. The quantums from the 90's and early 2000's did crap out prematurely. I don't think you'll have any issues with any newer quantums. I fish them hard and have no issues.
