  1. Bladed jig for me so far this year here in Iowa. But tomm I’ll have a bladed jig, lipless and spinner bait tied on. And a jig for pitching. I always bring a jig I can flip and swim
  2. possibly gonna be a tough one to get good advice on. A lot of us are lured fisherman in the bass world. I usually just buy them if im pan fishing or taking my daughter with me. I will say tho if ya don’t finish a tub they keep for a long time in the fridge. Welcome to bass resource!
  3. Thank you everyone! I appreciate it. I’m pretty proud of it honestly. Go get em man!!!!
  4. lol par for the course for me sir. Next year tho I’m in! Neat thread to follow though I’m not sure how I missed it!
  5. Ahh crap I’m past a week of catching it to submit. But I’m glad I know for next year!!!
  6. Thanks guy!!! It is. Pretty neat program. @Pat Brown i didn’t even know @A-Jay does that. I’ll Have to look for the thread
  7. Thank you so much everyone. I appreciate the kind words. Yes it has. That’s an absolute monster for Iowa. Thanks man
  8. Maybe I’m the odd man. Only Daiwa baitcaster I’ve ever owned was a lexa 10 years ago. I’ve owned and still own several lews. I like the reels the company everything. I have the LFS speedspools. They also went up in price from the $99 mark. I’m not gonna catch anymore or better fish with a more expensive or different brand reel. So I stick with them. But if you have made up your mind in your head that ya wana run Daiwa o don’t think you’ll be disappointed I love their spinning reels. I don’t plan on being the richest guy in the cemetery. Buy what you like or wana use and take pride in it!
  9. Some will think it’s silly or whatever. But my PB I caught a couple weeks ago or so. Met the criteria size wise to qualify for an Iowa DNR master angler award. So I submitted it. And got the approval email today. I’ve never won a thing fishing lol. So this was pretty neat to me.
  10. Oh wow thank you for the links! When I winterize it after this season I plan to do some stuff to it exactly like you said. Just for the peace of mind and something to do over winter lol. Yep I have those tools already so I should be good to work on whatever on it. The points article will be great it’s been years since I adjusted or greased points on anything lol
  11. Yeah I took the pic at a weird angle lol. Awesome. This should work out great
  12. That’s what I found and that’s actually one company the guy I bought it from recommended. And he even said the shop he works for still carries some parts for these lol. I’m really excited.
  13. Thanks! It’s not a bad lil motor. And the guy was super helpful. It’s a short shaft
  14. Well I’d been looking at marketplace daily for motors. And I finally found a good candidate. After talking with the guy I found out he was around the corner from work. And worked at a local marine shop. It’s a 1971 Johnson 6hp. Came with a 3 gallon gas can and primer hose. It’s had the carb gone through, new water pump impeller, new lower unit oil and new spark plugs. The shop he works for still carry some parts for these and he gave me some resources for parts as well and said contact him if I ever need help. Super clean little 6 horses now I don’t have to baby a trolling motor battery. Hopefully it pushes the little boat fine. Most lakes here are no wake anyway.
  15. Wow! Thats a gorgeous boat. Congrats!
  16. So i love my falcons. But I wanted a Roderick that had a much softer tip for moving baits. I was in fleet farm looking around. And I grabbed one. $34 MH 7’ with a nice soft tip. It’s Eva grips covered in cork. For a $34 rod I wouldn’t sleep on one. Great action for moving baits nicely put together. Just thought I’d throw this out there as an option. Definitely worth the money
  17. I’m sure Tuesday will be a great day!
  18. I do also. And it works great for what it cost.
  19. So I’ve always been a huge EWG fan. But use round bends too. And notice the hook up ration better with round bends. What are yall doing or using when the bait is bulky? Just going to a larger round bend?
  20. That’s a great! Idea and I have a ton of d bomb already. Thanks Pat!!!
  21. I’ve only fished it a few times. And found I like a lil heavier weight no matter the water depth. And you really have to give a good snap of the rod to get that separation. But I was fishing the bellows gill. Don’t count that bait out. It catches so much water. And separates well. And has a nice slow sink. That said they are expensive as all get out.
  22. My aluminum boat came with an old aluminum net. I don’t have the net I had for my kayak anymore. It was nice though. If I ever catch a fish out of the boat I’ll use the old crappy aluminum one and upgrade later lol. That said I’d definitely get one with a rubber net. They are so much nicer
  23. Gotta love how aggressive the 11-14” Fish are. I love catching a bunched them. That’s sounds like a great trip
