Valid point I’ve never tried to fish heavier usually a 1/16 or 1/8 i wondered if I was missing something because I have never really caught more than a handful of fish on neds..
  2. I’ve always been under the impression lighter is better but saw a video with Gussy saying go with 3/16 in 10ft or less… 1/4 in 10-20ft and 3/8 or 5/16 for anything deeper than 20ft.. Just curious on what you guys think or if you guys agree or disagree with him..
  3. I mainly use vmc redline or fusion 19... I think the sharpest hook on the planet is trokar thought...
  4. I have tried the coike style baits a few times neko rigged and daimiki rigged... I've seen fish follow it on livescope but I've never caught anything with it yet
  5. With largemouth and spotted bass i tend to go towards this... Just go with what the forage is in the body of water you are fishing.... If it's a southern lake with shad roll with shad colors... Highland Reserviors with Alewives and Bream go with those colors... Herring Lakes go with Herring colors.... One thing I try to is in dirtier water go with something that makes a little more commotion or vibration.... example if flipping maybe a beaver style in clear water vs a craw with flapping appendages in dirtier water.... Maybe a squarebill vs a tigher wobbling crank... Maybe a willow blade in clear vs colorado blade in dirty... I tend to lean more towards changing the actions rather than the colors... The way my brain works the bait don't really change colors when the water changes colors.. except for maybe crawfish during molting or different times of the year.... now with smallmouth I absolutely try to throw colors that stand out that I know they can see from a longer distance.... that's just the nature of their predator instincts.
  6. I've never fished Guntersville but I've fished Chickamauga, Watts Bar, and South Holston on the Tennessee River... A good, basic starting point for me is to find a good down wind creek with a defined channel and start scoping around where the creek channel meets the main river channel... Look for bait balls... find bait balls.. bass will be near either roaming or holding down near the bottom on cover. Start following the channel back into the creek and look for roamers or bass on cover... now go catch them.. I like a jerkbait and jighead minnow for the roamers and a neko rig and drop-shot for the fish down near the bottom... That's a pretty easy pattern to run no matter the body of water your at, except for maybe Florida lakes... my local lakes are all highland reservoirs and I usually have no trouble finding schools of bass.... for me catching them is the hardest part
  7. Anyone care to comment or give thoughts on their lineup? I like the Drop Minnow and Drop Worm… Have not tried their ned rigs or finesse jigs yet.. I know they are designed for smallmouth but what are some thoughts on largemouth too… I know the theory behind is these guys downsized their baits into ultra finesse and started winning tournaments…
  8. Lord how mercy you got that right
  9. Forward Facing Sonar has changed how I fish.... no denying that... Jerkbait Jighead Minnow Neko Rig If I'm not having a good day with any of those I'll usually either go to a moving bait or a wacky rig... If I still can't catch anything I'll drop-shot or drag a jig.... If I still can't catch anything after trying those three things I'll usually go home because it just ain't meant to be that day
  10. I try to read the conditions.... calm conditions, sunny conditions, slick water, and clear water I'll start finesse on the other hand if windy, dirty water, choppy water, etc I'll power fish... I never leave an area without throwing the other though... Also - pressured fish I'll always start finesse.. I used to power fish nearly 100% of the time until I thought I was good and tried my hand at tournaments and got my butt handed to me.... Then I forced myself to learn to finesse fish..
  11. For a short getaway to catch numbers with a few solid ones mixed in where would you spend your time and money to go out of these… South Holsten Douglas Cherokee Watts Bar Chickamauga

I use VMC Redline or Berkley Fusion 19
  13. I like the Dredger in dirty water and a DT in clear water/pressured fish.. The Dredgers have rattles and the DTs are silent..
  14. I’ll miss Tom’s responses on here. When he spoke, I listened.. and he was usually nice enough to answer any question I had..
  15. Lol I didn’t even notice that
  16. you can fish the finisher just like a blade bait in winter let it fall and raise it up just enough to let it start to vibrate then let it fall again…
  17. That’s a group of fish that wants to chase something down… Go to a jighead minnow or swimbait.. Fish the jerkbait for fish holding tighter to cover.. I bet you‘ll get more bites..
  18. Go the other extreme.. throw a big 6 inch flutter spoon
  19. The Frittside 5 is my favorite crankbait that has ever been created. The Candy Apple Red Craw is deadly in prespawn. Bluegill pattern around bream beds. Ghost Morning Dawn any other time. The smallmouth like the sexy shad with the baby blue back. For bigger bites the biggin models are dynamite.
  20. Fish like to feed up for a jerkbait but with cold water they don't want to travel far so a deeper diving will put the bait more in their faces if they are holding in 10ft of water or deeper... The fish may be even deeper than that I'd jig a blade bait off the bottom or drag a jig or ned rig
  21. Do you all use deep diving models are regular more?
  22. What jerkbaits are yall using to catch suspended bass on livescope? Any particular ones that seem to work better than others??
  23. I like a flat sided crank in water 60 and below and a standard crank for 60 and warmer
  24. Late Fall fish are on a feeding frenzy before winter comes… find the bait find the bass.. Very Early Prespawn iceout fish are feeding up but also moving towards spawning grounds..
  25. I lost an A rig on the fourth cast.. I never tied another one on… My Dad lost his favorite spinnerbait when the entire favorite rod and reel flew out of his hands on a cast.. lure, line, rod, and reel all gone in an instant… Boy was he mad..
