Mercury ProXS 115 4S CT
Thank You Russ.. If that thing handles the 175 well then it should certainly handle the aluminum rt188p well..

Mercury ProXS 115 4S CT
You make a great point A-Jay and I appreciate your response. Let me clarify. The Ranger rt198p has the 150HP (Max Rating) and the rt188p has the 115HP (Max Rating). The cost of the rt188p runs about $8,000 less than the rt198p. I could save some money by purchasing the smaller boat/motor. I just wonder if the folks that have the 115 are happy with the amount of power they get out of it. Again, thanks for the response!

Mercury ProXS 115 4S CT
Those of you with this motor, are you satisfied with it? I have been eyeing the Ranger rt198p and went and looked at one at a dealer but while I was there I also looked at the new rt188p that just came out this year. The boats are almost identical except the 188 is a foot shorter and has the 115 instead of the 150. I can get the rt188p for about $8,000 cheaper than the rt195p also. This would help greatly in adding better electronics and an ultrex in and still save some money. Are you satisfied with the amount of power you get from the 115? Is it good enough to fish at the local/regional level? I like fishing local club tournaments and regional tournaments, don't see myself fishing anything major for a while (if ever). Just looking for input by those of you with this motor.

Ranger rt198p
I went to my local dealer yesterday to look at a few Triton 189trxs they had in stock but I was really impressed with the Ranger rt198p. This boat is massive and I love the way the cockpit felt. They had one with a 150 ProXS, Powerpole, Hook 7, Cover, and a tandem trailer for $39,500. I had told myself I wanted fiberglass but this boat seems to cover everything I need. Anyone running this rig? Pros and Cons? Tournament rig??

Triton 189 trx
I looked at a 2020 model today with a fortrex, 2 Lowrance Ti 2s, compartment lights, and a 150 ProXS for $42,995. Do you think that is a fair price or high?

Garmin: Traditional vs Clear Vu
The arches on traditional MIGHT be fish.. It picks up anything that’s there from fish to floating debris to air bubbles. Clearvu on the other hand only picks up true structure. There are no arches or anything on clearvu. The only thing that clearvu picks up on a fish is it’s air sack. It will be a fine or definite dot. When you put the two side by side and you see brush on the bottom with arches it could be fish or could be something else. If you see arches in tradition and nothing in clearvu it is probably not bass.. Key: Put traditional and clearvu on split screen. Look for arches on traditional and dots on clearvu that resembles the same pattern. If they are truly bass you should see a dot in the same location on the clearvu screen as you see the arches.. Keep in mind the arch is picking up the top shape of the fish as the signal bounces off. If the arch is curved left or right then that is the fish swimming through or you passing over them on the signal cone. When I say match your arches with your dots I mean when your boat is at a stand still or drifting right over top of the fish..

Which is the better deal
The only thing I want to add to the Triton is an Ultrex.. I may consider actually seeing if he would drop a couple of thousand off the Ranger and if not see if he would lose the power poles in order to do so. I fish deeper mountain reservoirs so the spot lock would be more valuable to me than the poles would. Plus it would lighten the rig too.

Which is the better deal
I’m not sure yet.. They are closed this week. I am going down in two weeks to look some more and discuss more in depth with the salesman.

Which is the better deal

150 Merc 4-Stroke vs Pro XS
Give me the pros and cons of each.. The similarities and differences.. Always wanted the Pro XS on my next boat but found a great deal on the exact boat I want with virtually every feature I want set up the way I want except it’s got a Fourstroke instead of the Pro XS..

Swim jig vs Spinnerbait
I throw a spinnerbait 90 percent of the time over a swimjig. I only throw the swimjig if the cover is too thick to get a spinnerbait through, such as extremely thick lilly pads, etc.

My final 4. What’s your opinions?
I’d go with Skeeter or Phoenix

Triton 189 trx
I’m starting a new job at a higher salary next week and although I am confident I could buy it next week I think I’m gonna hold off until the spring just to give myself a little more time to get my ducks in a row. As far as the boat goes, I loved the layout and the look of it. Everything on it appeared to be quality made. The cockpit and the front deck was ALOT bigger than what appeared in the pictures online. The sales guy said it would run 55-60 on a good say depending on conditions. The 70lb Minn Kota Edge was crap though. I will upgrade to probably an Ultrex. I want gps anchoring. I didn’t see a better boat for $35,995. I looked hard at the Ranger 518 but with the new HP rating their price has jumped from mid 40s to 51K. I just can’t justify that much money on a boat. Around 40 is my limit.

Triton 189 trx
Went and visited Anglers Choice Marine in Martinsville, VA for the first time yesterday to look at and price new boats... I feel like I’ve looked at about every boat that exists within my budget. The one that really caught my eye for the quality and price was the Triton 189 trx with a 150 Pro XS Fourstroke. I mainly fish myself and one other person and my biggest lake around is 2,020 acres. Some are just a few hundred acres. I feel like this boat has everything I need and the price looks great. Now the decision is do I want to buy one off the floor or wait until spring to order a new one.. Anyone else have the 189 trx? Thoughts?
