  1. I just wait until the Christmas sales or labor day sales and look in the bargain bin. I have no lures more expensive than 5$.
  2. Fishermans factory outlet. Its where pure fishing throws its discontinued and reconditioned product lines. You can find some really good deals on there!
  3. No I have only fished lews and pq's. Whats so special about magforce z
  4. How do the TD-A's compare to modern baitcasters like the citica, curado, pq, etc.?
  5. The guides on the HMX are not aluminum oxide; they are titanium oxide. Titanium oxide guides are *****, they groove as easily as chromed guides. Likewise the titanium guides on the HMG are actually pretty light and nice. The only possible reason to buy the HMX is if you like the split grip and the cost.
  6. And for the rod, should I get a glass, composite or composite rod?
  7. Yeah I will eventually probably sell my laser mg in another month or so to get a nice aluminum baitcaster.
  8. The guides are cr*ap on the HMX. Likewise on the HMG, they are really nice. The HMG's also have a lifetime warranty.
  9. Is the old TD Advantage any good? I saw a couple of good deals for it.
  10. Not to be nosy but how much did you pay for it on ebay??
  11. For the reel, should I getter a faster gear ratio or slower??
  12. Hi guys, as of now, I only fish t-rig, senkos and spinnerbaits. Once I get back on the water, I want to start learining how to use crankbaits. Anybody got suggestions for a rod and reel? (preferably under 200$ combined)
  13. Hi guys. I am Vincent from Middlesex, NJ.
  14. I agree with the general consensus. Panfish are some of the best tasting fish ever; why waster them? Just go home and fry up some of them slabs.
  15. I just bought it a month ago, and now it makes a slight hissing sound whenever I reel it in. Honestly, the baitcaster is probably cr*ap and I will probably buy a new one soon.
  16. What I am trying to say is that a dual breaking system is harder to set up than a magnetic or centrifugal breaking system. I agree; dual breaking systems are probably better overall, but a single breaking system is much easier to set up and tune for a beginner who knows nothing about baitcasters.
  17. I have the laser mg speed spool and have use a pro qualifier. I am not saying that the speed spool is better than the pq. All I am saying is that a single brake reel is much easier to learn on rather than a dual brake.
  18. Ok thanks. I'll try finding the port
  19. When I bought it, the online specifications said it had a lube port.
  20. For the guys who got the catalog, are there any good deals on fishing gear?
  21. I also just started and I find that Lews Speed spool work the best. I have the Lews Laser MG speed spool. And it is a helluva beginner reel. The magnetic cast control is really easy to dial in. After 3 days of practice I can already throw t-rig worms decently far. I have tried the DBS reels (BPS reels) and I found them to be extremely hard to use, unless you have somebody to actually teach you how to use them
  22. In lakes next to power plants, there are warm water discharges which are insane for bass fishing
  23. New Jersey easily wins for worst state. New Jersey lakes and ponds are so polluted, that half the fish are dirty or sick. Also, New Jersey has a ton of bass anglers for such a small state
  24. So I recently just got started into baitcasting. I bought a lews laser mg speed spool combo for 75$ at gander mountain. I like it, but there are a few problems that I have with it. I cant find the lube port, and the rod makes slight noise when retrieving. Also, the level wind feels like plastic and wobbles whenever I touch it. Should I just return the reel and get another one???
  25. When will they actually be available to order?
