  1. How are the E-motion and Shock rods?? Would they be good for cranking or jigging?
  2. How are they?? They look really nice. How do they compare to other rods in the price range like the veritas, vendetta etc.? Looks like they would make a good crankin stick.
  3. You missed the universal lure: rooster tails I have caught everything bass, stripers, pike, panfish, trout on them. Get a 1/4 and a 1/12 size and you should be covered.
  4. Fishing on a budget sucks. Honestly. I am a high school student so I only get a yearly allowance of 50$ to spend on fishing gear, excluding holidays and my birthday. I will be going to ma local Dick's to check out their clearance deals, hope I can get something good. What are some good fishing stores for those on a extremely tight budget??
  5. What type of line?? Just look at the specs of your reel.
  6. Unless you like using slow-moderate action fiberglass rods, don't put fireline on your fishing reel for crankin. It has no stretch, so you will miss a lot of fish.
  7. Lol no I'm just saying its incredibly hard to tie knots with tiny diameter fishing lines.
  8. Flipping and Pitching: 40 Pound Braid with a fluorocarbon leader Crankin rod: 12 Pound Mono
  9. How do y'all tie knots with braid the size of 2 pound line?
  10. What size hooks do you guys use?? And what type? EWG or just plain 'old worm hooks?
  11. Thanks for all the options guys. I will probably end up going with 20 or 15 pound braid with or without a fluorocarbon leader. The ponds and lakes I fish are all pretty muddy and overgrown with hydrilla and lily pads.
  12. Exactly what this guy said. Most companies do this because majority of good guide and reel seats companies are from overseas (FUJI, ALPS, Kigan, Pac-Bay).
  13. Guides are part of a rod, are they not??
  14. All the major guide companies FUJI, Pac Bay, Kigan, etc. are outsourced. Pac Bay guides are made in China, Fuji in Malaysia or Japan, and Kigan probably in South Korea. Correct me if I am wrong.
  15. Have you tried Silver Thread Excalibur copolymer line? It looks to be a step above an-40.
  16. Not to burst your bubble, but all so claimed "American-Built" fishing rods are not American Built. 99.999% of the guides are imported. Even St. Croix, which has such a good reputation for being an "American" rod does not use American built guides.
  17. Its all about the fans. Who would want to watch a 2 hour segment of a bass tournament with the anglers just watching their trolling lines?
  18. Seeker rods are also American Made. The Bushido Samurai series look really nice on TW.
  19. Cousins rods are American made and are really nice. You can find them on tackle warehouse.
  20. This is a pretty heavy rod and the reel drag maxes out at around 10lb. The rod is like a broomstick with amazing sensitivety. It has a extra fast action.
  21. On a setup of a 7'mh SPINNING okuma rod. Most of the worms will have weights added to them
  22. It depends. Some of the reconditioned are simply factory returns, Others... well they might have been broken. When I shop at ffo I never buy the reconditioned tackle- I only buy the discontinued tackle which are new.
