  1. Thanks.
  2. First craw with stencils. Stencils are a work in progress. (Made them from painters tape and qtips...)
  3. Finally attempted a bluegill. It came out darker than I wanted and as a result I lost some colors underneath the green. I went without a basecoat just to see how it turned out. Need to work on my stripes and go lighter all around. I'll still clear this one and fish it.
  4. An attempt to mimic Megabass's chartreuse viper pattern. Airbrush got away from me around the eyes. And the real one. Someday I'll get there
  5. Started out wanting these to be baby bass. Turned out more like a frog look. Oh well. I like them and the fish likely won't care.
  6. Devcon 2-ton 30 min epoxy. Can get it at amazon or lately they started carrying it at my local Ace Hardware.
  7. The plan for the next is mono legs. The spider legs were't holding the black marker well. It looks good on the water though. The legs spread out nicely
  8. Not great but it'll pass as a cricket
  9. It sinks to the body right side up. I thought it would look cool if it sat on top but I tossed it in a sink of water and it landed right side up and sank to the body every time. I did use flurocarbon for the legs so I expected them to sink. It wouldn't be the end of the world if it went in upside down though
  10. I caught the fly fishing bug and decided to add fly tying to my lead pouring and lure painting hobbies. I started out with the most basic fly I could think of...the foam body spider. Made one with short rubber legs, one with long, and then decided to get a little creative. I like how the third one turned out. I used fluro for the legs so it sinks to the body. I crumpled it in my hand and it bounces right back. My wife tried to smash it so I think it looks real enough. Going to see what the fish think on Sunday. Will add more flies (if they are presentable).
  11. Using createx regular and wicked. No clue how car paints would work. I started out with rattle cans so I'm sure anything will work one way or another. Just be sure to finish them with devcon 2-ton 30 min epoxy or similar
  12. I live in the same area but haven't been on the LMR yet. I hear Vic Coomer silver grubs/shads are fish catching lures for the area. Haven't tried them but will stock up eventually. I catch almost all my smallmouth off a small two inch Pop-r in silver/black back, pb&j ned rig or a hula stick cut in half on a 1/8oz jig head. I haven't been skunked yet with those three. I twitch the pop-r. Popping doesn't get the strikes but twitches do. I work the ned rig in small jerks and long pauses. If you are limited to the bank it's time to get your feet wet, literally. All my best spots are found after wading for a 1/4 mile or so. I'm a numbers man and know where I fish I'm not going to catch anything of size. 2lbs is the biggest and that was last year. It's all about quantity and the baits I use are good for that. Just started fly fishing to make those little guys even more fun. You'll find what the fish want and where they are.
  13. Still trying out a couple different techniques. Neither turned out as well as I hoped but I doubt the fish will care.
  14. If anyone wants to dip their toes into fly fishing, Fishusa has the scientific angler bass combo on sale for $65. I just picked one up so I can chuck those bigger flies.
  15. Hope they are part of a bigger collection or used to catch plenty of fish.
  16. And looks better cleared.
  17. Finally got around to my 4th paint job (that looked decent) . Grabbed a $1 Rebel bait from the Wal-Mart bin. It looks better in person.
  18. Picked this up a couple weeks ago. An older Ascend FS12T. I wanted to ease into kayak fishing and upgrade once I know it's for me. I'll be selling off the stabilizers and doing some mods eventually. For now I'm just getting used to paddling.
  19. I have no clue on the eye size. They are what came with the larger crankbaits that I ordered odd ebay. I only have a few left so I'll have to track them down
  20. Had a run of a half dozen baits that were just plain ugly. Decided to quit trying to do too much too fast and tried a sexy shad pattern. Just realized I forgot the shad dot so I'll add that later. Can't get much easier than this.
  21. Thanks all. Had a few failed attempts since those two but at least it's easy to coat'em in white and start all over.
  22. Much appreciated. It will be a lot of trial and error. That and trips to hobby lobby
  23. Below are my two very simple attempts at airbrushing. I can say with certanty that this would have went smoother with a better airbrush. I also need to get some alligator clips. Trying to do the netting with one cloths pin and a binder clip was frustrating. I will admit that I had a practice attempt before these just to see how the gun worked and to see how some colors looked over different colors. I hope to put that practice to use on the next attempts. I figured i should start out very easy and work my way up. the one on the left was supposed to mimic Bagley's baby bass color. I went with a shad dot to make it easier. I'll add more to this post as I go along.
  24. I was thinking about doing something similar but with an ultra minnow spinnerbait mold. I may buy some premade off ebay first and test it out to see if I like it.
  25. I may do that this winter. These were made quick just to see how they fished and most will be given away. I may have purchased all the materials while under the influence of bourbon so there's that too.
