seaguar invizX
I tried some 20lb Invizx for soft plastics and used it 1 trip---was entirely too stiff. Ended up using it for leaders and on a flipping rod. I like Vicious and XPS Fluoro's much better plus they are cheaper. Looking at *** prices, Invizx is more than double the price of Vicious and IMHO no any better line.

Some older fisherman just crack me up
frogtog---I think they are really just jealous of our good life. I am 62 years young and I all I have to do is fish 3-4 days a week and golf 3-4 days a week. BUT I do work all the other days. ;D

Dowels and Brush for Low Pond
PVC last FOREVER as in more plastic trash. Once the brush is rotted away the PVC is still there. I would stick with the dowels, at least when the brush is gone, they will be too.

Big Largemouth Bass too aggresive. Any suggestions
Brians---You are asking "do I have too many bass or too many large bass" of Bass Fishermen in a bass forum? ;D I am not a biologist, but what I read, says you need to start harvesting some of the smaller fish if you want larger ones---bass or bream. 2 acres really isn't much room and I would figure it could get out of balance pretty easy.

Catch and release, being overdone??????
There were articles in March 2007 Bass Times (pg 30/31) about how catch & release has really hurt the fishing in many Texas lakes. TPWD Biologist were wanting more people to catch & keep the smaller "legal" bass. Basically, they were saying that the reason they set size, number, slot limits is to better manage the fishery. I don't keep everything I catch, but I do keep lots of legal fish for family & friends. One quote from one of the articles: "When biologists recommend and approve a slot limit regulation, they are encouraging harvest. They want small bass measuring under the slot removed, which will provide more food and growing room for the slot protecxted fish."

how to fish a lake fork live magic shad?
You can rig them Weightless, Texas Rig, Carolina Rig, Drop Shot Rig, Wacky Rig, Nail rig, and Jig Head Rig. Normally about a 4/0 ot 5/0 hook for the 4.5" size. Bring the hook up in the slot on the back then skin hook the point to make it weedless. As far as action, mix it up and see what the fish want. I tend to use an erratic retrieve most times.

wacky pen tool tip
joez---You might try Lowes/Home Depot for the o-rings. Here they are much cheaper than at the Auto Parts stores. Lowes has them in the Plumbing section.

BPS Fourocarbon Line
I had tried the BPS XPS Flouro 14Lb and liked it well enough for cranks that I ordered the 800 yd spool. Also, I don't fill the spool with Flouro, I fill about 1/2 the spool with cheap mono then splice it with the Flouro. The Flouro is smaller diameter than mono so takes lots of yards to fill an entire spool. Really I found that is the only use I had for some Red Cajun line I had bought, plus it makes it easy to see when the flouro is getting low.

The invisible red theory....
The following is from the Professors Corner in which Doug Hannon gives his insight on red line: Quote: "is red line like Cajun red cast really less visible to fish than regular low vis green mono? " Many gamefish have a heightened sensitivity to the color red. It is the only color known to increase the strike reflex in fish, and, as such, has a place in lure presentation. I don't buy that it would be good in a line color, because typically we do not want the line to be noticed. The fact that it disappears at depth does not mean it is rendered invisible. The red is simply replaced with black. I would favor pale green as the least visible line. Doug Hannon

OH OH I got an extra piece!!!!!!
If you can, get a schematic for that reel. You can then see the places where a washer is "supposed to be". You may be able to replace it that way. Usually the washers are are part of the drag and are on the shaft the handle fits on. Try tightening the drag and if it won't tighten then probably sure it is part of the drag. Exceptions as always, there are some small washers usually at the end of the worm gear under the E-clip. Main thing is get a schematic. When all else fails box it up and send it to Reel Mech and hope it is a model he works on.

reel maintence and cleaning?
Not sure they do Pfluegars, but see lots of good recommendations on http://www.lakeforktacklerepair.com/index.html. They also have a video if you want to learn to do it yourself. Another one I see recommended a lot is: http://www.southwesternparts.com/, again not sure if they do Pfluegars.

Skip Gap Hooks
I live way out in West Texas---no Dicks Sporting Goods around here. Lucky to have an Academy.

Vertical Wall Mount Fishing Rod Holders?
You have to watch on the Berkley Racks. They have a "Rod Rack" that holds 6 rods without reels. Then they have a "Combo Rack" that holds 5 Rods & Reels. Walmart & Academy usually will stock them both, just have to watch what you are getting. Got 2 of the Rod Racks before I found the Combo rack.

Skip Gap Hooks
I really like them for all my Tx rig worming. My primary lake is full of salt cedar and these keep the bait in place better in that heavy brush than any hook I have ever used. My biggest problem, is that I have to order them through BPS, none of the local stores have stocked them yet.

The good thing about this 200 Assorted Plastics for $10 is the free shipping. Looks like you get free shipping on that AND anything else ordered at the same time. Compared to normal shipping, the plastics are nearly free!

Plano boxes not hook proof
I have the Falcon Terminal tackle organizer that I really like. BUT like you, I was having trouble with some of the smaller stuff, small hooks, tootpicks, ... shifting compartments. I found some foam rubber shelf liner at Lowes for fairly cheap. I cut a piece that fit the lid exactly and glued it to the lid. This pretty well seals each compartment and stopped the shifting of the smaller stuff. It would probably work the same on one of your present Plano 3700 boxes and is fairly cheap. Just cut the piece then test to be sure you can close and latch the lid before glueing it in. After it has been in for a while it forms grooves where the dividers are so it gets easier to close.

Gama hooks for t-rigs
Used to use 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu, but got some of the new 3/0 kip Gap Gamakatsu that I really like. They hold the bait real good when Texas rigged. I also use the Superline 3/0 when flipping since I use 50LB braid on my flipping setup and I flip very heavy salt cedar. If having trouble hooking/landing fish caught on Tex rigs, you might want to use a heavier and/or second hook set. Some time they will have the bait and the weight in their mouth and you may not be getting hook set well enough. Another reason I use the Superline hook on the braid setup.

What Weight Do You Use?
Catch lots of fish 15-25' with stick baits, trick worms wacky rigged, ..., and I will use 3/8 oz weights at that depth.

Anyone use a handheld GPS?
Check out the Lowrance Free Enhanced Lake Maps. If they have your lakes, they are a good start along with the H2O. If you want to see what it is like, download the H2O Demo unit and some local lakes. Allows you to see what the unit and maps will do using your PC before you buy it.

Good ol' homemade attractant recipes
Back in the old days before mfr put out any attractants, used to mix a little Oil of Anise with Glycerin oil and put on plastic worms. Kept them soft and oily and gave them a distinct odor. Some of the first commercial attractants were basically the same as that.

gamakatsu new skip gap hook
Like others, I really like them and the way they hold the bait on. BPS sells them for $2.99 for pack of 5. I have to get them there since no one locally has started carrying them.

Owner Twistlock Frog Hooks
Used some for the first time today since that was all Academy had when I was in there. Liked the hook, certainly don't like the price. Not sure any hook is worth $1 each!

Tackle Storage in hot garage??
I have always stored all my tackle in my garage which has no A/C. Being in West Texas, it does get hot 100+ but I have never had anything melt and have never noticed any problems with rods/reels. The garage is still probably cooler than a rod locker since there is more air circulation and some insulation.
