  1. I would probably try to find the best deal on the highest priced shimano you can afford. If you want to buy one today I would probably take the pflueger president for 60 bucks.
  2. Yup. I have the 7'2'' regular and I would say it is on the faster side of mod fast. I think it is perfect for swimjigs, chatterbaits and spinner baits. Mine is almost exclusive to chatterbaits though. I just picked up an aetos 6'8'' MHF for another swimjig, chatter, spinner rod that I am anticipating using more for swimjigs. we'll see though.
  3. ' yeah i couldnt find it on mobile either. Pretty pumped i got 4 in the top 12 for tomorrow. I just wish skeet would have made top 50.. couldn't believe he didn't. I am at 96.9 cuz of Mueller. so glad i picked him!!
  4. My Man Paul Mueller getting it done!! if he makes the cut ill be pretty pumped. Assuming Ott, mullins, and Wheeler do their job as well.
  5. They are taking a break until 11:30.
  6. Oh I am at work!! I have 2 screens though
  7. My only real failure right now is stinkin skeet. in bucket b.. I got: Ott Skeet Mullins Mueller Wheeler I like how Mueller came out this morning. I picked him because I was in his boat on the st. Lawrence tourney last year and I just really like his approach to fishing and his attitude towards the game.
  8. I fish a small river a lot. I use a small (2.75") tube on an 1/8 oz jig head probably 80% of the time. I used to use a white 3.5" grub on a jig head a lot and did great with it. Another great bait on small river smallies is a rapala original floater in the black and gold color. I usually have a drop shot tied on with a hellgrammite imitator on it as well. I have recently got into some small squarebills and poppers/torpedos too.
  9. Yup.. after all the hype it gets on this site I bought some and it completely lives up to it. I don't care if its just a confidence thing or if it triggers strikes or makes em hold on longer. I won't use many plastics without it and I certainly won't drop shot without it. Good to know its fine on hudds as I just bought a few.
  10. Really? what pound test gliss do you use? I have 18 on my drop shot rod and I couldn't even tie an FG knot on the leader.. I ended up tying a double uni and it has been fine but it seemed like just rubbing against the flouro I was using as a leader caused it to fray.
  11. Bingo. I always try to tie my knots on the opposite side from where the split ring opens. with oval or tear drop split rings you don't have to worry about it.
  12. I might even consider throwing like 6 pound fireline or some other thin braid if casting distance is your goal. I don't know too much about UL fishing but I would give it a try if it were me.
  13. I started with a uni to uni knot and it works great as long as you get the flouro nice and wet and cinch it slowly. I would also recommend not quite tightening the flouro side all the way down before you pull both sides together if that makes sense. Get both sides just tight enough to start gripping the other line then slowly pull them together. I haven't tied a uni-uni knot in a while though as I learned how to tie the FG knot. when tied right that knot cannot be beat. Here is the video I used to learn it, it is the easiest way to tie it correctly:
  14. I would definitely go with a daiwa tatula reel. Any of them will work (original, type R, ct or ct type R) I guess the orig and type R are a bit larger than your average caster but I like the size to be honest. You can get an abu Garcia veritas rod (I would suggest a 6'6'' or 7 foot medium as they run a little strong) for under $100 or a Fenwick HMG. I would personally try to get the best 7' medium or medium heavy fast rod I could get a deal on. Stick to the major brands and find a deal for around the $80 to $100 spent mark and you will be happy.
  15. Oh.. I stand corrected. haha
  16. Oh no doubt. especially with the 25 dollar off 100 coupon they give you for signing up for their newsletter.
  17. np. I got pretty excited at %60 haha.
  18. Did you mean $60 not 60%?
  19. Its all been said but on my river the priority list goes like this: 1: Green pumpkin tube (2.75") 2: drop shot hellgrammite imitator 3: white grub on a blue jig head 4: rapala original floater in gold black (F-7 or 9) caught some nice ones with these 5: small popper / tiny torpedo
  20. Well I am sure you know more than me haha. I just tend to use lighter line. (I also haven't done a whole lot of squarebill fishing... I know, I know I'm working on it)
  21. I would change set up 1 to 10 or 12 pound yo-zuri Hybrid myself but otherwise that is exactly what I would do.
  22. Yeah, I got a great selection of jerkbaits now that I won't cry about when those stupid pickerel/pike bite me off. of course I have a couple 110's that I may never use because of that fear haha jk..... maybe..
  23. Go to DSG or field and stream and get them with the buy 5 get 5 deal and you get them for $6.00 - $6.50 a piece. That's what I did!
  24. you got a link to that? I didn't find it..
  25. I will have a lucky craft pointer on the deck as well as a small tube and a dropshot. I may also try chuckin a swimbait.
