Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Got the boat out yesterday for the first time this year. worked out a couple first trip kinks (like getting to the ramp and realizing I forgot to put gas in the tank..) got the motor running and have a few fixes on the list now. Didn't get to fish much which resulted in my first skunk on keuka but it sure felt good to make a few casts.

FC or Braid for Chatterbaits
Last year I only had one set up for these and 12# yozuri hybrid was what I used on the 7'2'' tatula MH regular (Mod-fast). It worked really well. Now i'll have another set up that ill be putting 30# super slick 8 on to see what I like better. That will be a 6'8'' MHF Aetos I'll end up swapping reels to see which combo works better. It doesn't seem like it could get much better but I like trying new things

Yeah.. I mean I am happy with my picks but really just hoping their momentum will land them high in their group. Definitely hard to choose.

Making my own mold
Did you seal the pop with epoxy or mod podge first? did you spay it with some form of oil or pam before you poured? the plastisol could be getting stuck on the walls and building up making it harder for the res to keep going to the bottom of the mold..

Tube Fishing?
X2 on Green Pumpkin being all you need. I use 2.75" tubes with an 1/8 ounce 90 deg internal jig hook all the time on my very clear water.

Making the switch to braided
I think everyone basically covered the suggestions for what # test to use. Rarely will I use less than 30# myself on a baitcaster. I will suggest using an 8 carrier braid in addition to the other suggestions. once I started using suffix 832 I never went back. this year I am trying out some PP super slick 8 as well. I like the 8 carrier because it just feels so much smoother coming off the reel and through the guides.

kayaks?
If your budget is on the smaller side I have a field and stream shadow caster that I absolutely love. It has a really wide beam and an adjustable (and I think replaceable) seat. retails for 800 but they are usually on sale for 750.

Should I use backing on my spinning reel
Short answer, yes. you can get 2 spools out of 165 yards of line!!

Polarized Sunglasses - are they all the same?!?
Long story short, there is definitely a difference in clarity. I can see fish that my dad and cousin can't see with their cheaper glasses. But, the real reason I use Oakley's is because I can wear them all day and my ears and nose aren't sore. If they aren't comfortable to wear for 8 to 12 hours then the savings isn't worth it at all to me.

Me too. He is becoming one of my favorites.. I hope I can get in his boat the next time I marshall.

porized glasses
I personally use Oakley just because they are so dang comfortable for me. You can find polarized Oakley's for less than a hundred if you look hard enough.

Fantasy Fishing
Can you show me how to use it? I have never heard of it before. Yeah I have done that.. I guess I am looking to see if all the results are compiled somewhere that I wasn't able to find. Edit: Oh I didn't realize you could click on the numbers and it would show you everything. Still would like a compiled list if its out there though.

Is there a place you can look at the history of winners at elite series events? or like AOY standings and corresponding placements in tournaments?

Best $110 or less casting rod for 1oz. - 1.5oz. topwater/swim baits?
I just bought an irod jr swimbait (rated 1-4oz) mod fast. I would think that might be the best to cover all those techniques.. not sure how it loads on the lighter end of its spectrum but it would give you the option of going bigger, and the option of throwing A-rigs on it. I haven't received it yet but if you are interested I can tell you how it feels when I do. The bad thing is that it is $150 retail.. I think if you looked long enough you might find one used or find a great deal on a new one. If you don't go that route, I would suggest a mod fast flipping stick rated up to 2 ounces.

Your next rod
Well I am having an irod Jr. Swimbait rod being shipped to me currently.. so probably that one.

What is unusable?
For me it's the traditional texas rig.. and its not so much that I refuse to use them I just find myself using other techniques to get the job done.

Fantasy Fishing
True. The top five point receivers are who they are no matter who picks them. Highly unlikely the top five point scorers will be the most owned anglers in each bucket though..
-
Fantasy Fishing
Yeah, although the own % being high for 1 angler in each group doesn't mean that all the people who picked tharp also picked the other 4 highest. I'd like to see the percentage of people who picked the highest owned angler in each bucket. I bet that is a whole lot lower (although still probably the highest percentage among unique teams).
-
Fantasy Fishing
Yep.. I do not have the most unique team.. lol tharp with 55%
