  1. Gander mountain has the Humminbird 698ci SI for 200 after rebate. I think that is pretty hard to beat at that price.. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Humminbird-698ci-HD-SI-Chartplotter/Fishfinder-Combo&i=770809
  2. I agree with Francho, I started my fiancée out on a mepps aglia and a panther martin then moved her to a wacky senko. She does great with those now and now I am slowly teaching her to use a bait caster.
  3. X10 on the magic eraser for cork. Although I only clean the cork if I am selling the rod haha.
  4. Exactly what I would do. Although I would throw spinnerbaits and chatters on the okuma.
  5. 7' MF spinning with a 2500 or 3000 spinning reel for heavier weightless plastics and light hard baits 6'9'' MLXF spinning with a 2500 spinning reel for anything finesse (Drop shot, small tubes, ned, neko, etc) 7' MHF Casting with a 6.xx:1 reel for chatters, spinners, worms, even frogs 6'6'' MF with a 7.xx:1 reel for jerks and just about any topwater 7' MM with a 5.xx:1 reel for any cranks except deep cranks. been there and this is what I wish I had when I only had 5. now I have 18...... what is wrong with me lol
  6. hmm I would say I used to fish the Strike King Grass frog a lot but have since switched to hollow bodies.. I have also caught a bunch of river smallies on a white mister twister and the rapala floating minnow but neither see any action really any more.. might have to fix the floating minnow situation, those are fun to catch em on.
  7. I personally like the HMG better although mine is a spinning rod. I don't think you are going wrong with either rod for that action.. just remember that the veritas runs a littler heavier than advertised
  8. Same here.. but the zillions I just got have the same color code 6.3 = yellow, 7.3 = red
  9. Well I don't know what the other rod is but I have an HMG and love it. I have the 6'9'' MLXF for dropshotting though. I can't believe the MF would be worse though. its a great rod at a great price.
  10. Dude.. I bought soooo much stuff already.. I upgraded 4 combos with plans to upgrade a 5th and I already bought like $400 worth of baits mostly jerkbaits. I can't pass up $5-6 lucky crafts and $2 RC's
  11. Here are a few that my friend painted for me. PM me if you want his info.
  12. Well I don't have an FK but I could go on and on about the FJ I have and love haha.
  13. If you are using it for all of these I would strongly recommend going to 40lb braid and tying a leader for certain things however if I had to only throw mono I would have to go with big game as well.
  14. I would say you certainly can, but you will likely be limited by weight of the lure and you will also lose potential accuracy. I am sure there is someone out there that can sniper pitch a 3/4 oz jig from 20 yards though so try some different stuff til you find what you like.
  15. I will be focusing on jerkbaits this year as well as trying to learn how to jig fish. I have seen many good fish taken on a jerkbait but have only tried/caught a few. I am all stocked up and ready to fish as soon as the ice breaks!!
  16. I would have to agree again with the stick bait choice as the most versatile lure. If that was the only thing you brought with you, I think you could cover almost if not all presentations needed to catch a bass.
  17. The original excalibur spit n image. I only have 2 of the originals left but the current heddon ones work fine too. I could throw my livetarget frogs all day without catching a fish and still have fun though.

I knew you were gonna chime in man haha. You are the reason i started using it!
  19. I joined. hopefully i don't forget haha.
  20. I didn't post this before but if you do attempt to learn the FG knot, this is the video I learned from. It is definitely the easier method to getting good tight wraps. At the time I was learning it, this was the only video that showed this method. I am sure there are many more now.

Megastrike man. thats all i use.. except for JJ's magic but that is more for the color. I think it makes a difference when you are finesse fishing for sure. i slather it on all my tubes and dropshot baits
  22. x10 on the Fg knot. crazy good knot if you learn how to tie it right. don't use it with gliss line thogh...
  23. I have a mitchell 304 i could sell ya .. but yeah i really liked the president i had. The shimano sedona is another good one for around that price. i would wait for a 100 msrp reel to go on sale for under 70 myself. I think i saw a couple places have the higher end pfluegers on sale for cheap recently. hard to go wrong with pflueger or shimano.
  24. Ok that makes sense. I'm assuming the weight of the reg sv103 is much higher? that was confusing me haha.
  25. Tackle warehouse has the 5.3:1 gear ratio for $199 right now plus 10% off gift cards.. unless that is a different reel. Hard to tell with all of daiwas names.
