  1. There are only 2 ponds (not even lakes) around where I live. These ponds get HAMMERED during the summer, I'm talking 5+ people fishing all day at a small pond, the fish are definitely there, but they dont bite anything. Last time I caught a fish there was on a old sausage from dinner a week before.
  2. Use Mike DVT as others have said. great guy!
  3. I dont usually have good results with ebays claim system :/
  4. Put the reel on the Lightning rod, and spool it with any brand 16lb Flourocarbon line. Baitcasters are good for: - Soft Plastics (Not too small, RoboWorms for example wont be a good bait to use) - Crankbaits - Spinnerbaits - Jigs - Frogs (Although, this is a little stressful on the reel. If the reel has a graphite frame instead of aluminum, using frogs may significantly reduce the life of the reel) - Lipless Crankbaits - Poppers and other topwater baits And anything else that is larger than a roboworm. Also note, casting a baitcasting reel is a bit different than other reels. This might be a good read. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/172271-how-to-cast-a-baitcaster/
  5. I dont loosen it, and havent really thought about it (or noticed any problems). I do however loosen the drag.
  6. Welcome to the forums btw! I see you're relatively new.
  7. Title says "Tatula ct R", anyway, I decided to look up the known problems for the CT, found a couple but they both had easy fixes. Not to hijack this thread, but if you have a Curado I by chance, how is the ct compared? Awesome to hear, sounds like I need to get one
  8. Woah. I was about to buy a CT. I think I changed my mind... For now at least.
  9. Was it by chance inari.goriyaku.japan? Thats who I'm looking at at the moment. (if you search that in your email you might be able to find out) Pictures unfortunately dont show the internal condition :/ I bought a Citica E from someone there, as well as a Lews SS1H, both arrived with the most torn gears imaginable.
  10. Any safe places to pick one up? Not sure if the big auction site can be trusted with more than $100, especially since I'd be ordering from Japan.
  11. I'm aware of that Can you give me a model number for a 7-ish speed righty? if you have it.
  12. I keep hearing a bunch of fuss about how awesome this so called "TDZ" is, figured I'd start asking questions. I'm a Shimano guy, and have been since I started fishing, so this Daiwa thing is new to me. I'm considering purchasing one, how are they compared to the Curado I/Curado 200E7 or Tatula CT? (other reels I'm considering) What makes these reels so amazing? Also, how much does a decent condition TD-Z go for?
  13. If it is the exact one you linked, it would probably last a season of heavy use (due to the graphite frame). I went through 2 brand new Abu Black Max 2's in a season when I started using baitcasters. If you can spend a bit more, the H2O Xpress Mettle is a great reel. $60 and worth every penny.
  14. Woah, ok yeah thats a pretty big difference... Didnt notice that.
  15. thanks for the info, I should add that I havent actually held a Citica I.
  16. I'd take the Curado over any other $260 reel any day. Just keep it maintained. The Curado I has better bearings, handle, drag star, etc. Plus you get the bragging right to having a Curado! Either way, they're both Shimano, so you cant go wrong.
  17. Personally, I would get the 35, use it for a while for everything, and then get the Summit 40 later on for Cats/Walleye/Steelhead. (while keeping the 35 for bass)
  18. Take this for what its worth, but I have a 7' Veritas 1.0 Medium as my general-use rod, as it gets the most use. I can fish just about anything on it comfortably. Its really sensitive too! (AWESOME for bottom-bouncing!) I havent tried Dobyns, but it sounds like it would be a good rod as well. Keep in mind with Abu, Medium seems to mean Medium Heavy.
  19. 6.3:1 Curado I or a 6.3:1 Tatula CT would be my recommendation. keep in mind the Tatula CT might be a little small for thick swimbait lines. (I would check it out in person before buying it).
  20. Depends on the pond, if there are trees/shrubs around you, then yes, 6 is great. However, I choose to go with a 7 MH for ponds. (I can flip a jig probably 25-35 feet with it) Sidenote, flipping is a great way to get a bait into trees that hang into the pond, we have TONS of trees in the water here.
  21. $14 shipped is too much? looks like it'll be $18+shipping on the site you linked
  22. I'm looking at it from a "Which reel stands out the most compared to other reels". Technique or application isnt too much of a factor (for me at least).
  23. If the price was the companies error, (i.e, if you tried buying the rod from their website, and it would only let you buy it for a huge discount) They should let you return it for a new one. Just let them know that the error was on their end (if it was)
