Tell me how stupid this is . . .
That is what it feels like!!! Literally crazy. If you find the DNR report you can see just how insane it is.

I agree. They have cut through my 50 lb Flippin braid as well. 20 lb fluoro is better, but if they hit that right, it’s gone too. One of the lakes I fish had the highest pike gain in the State, per DNR, and it wasn’t even close. I am not sure what happened, but it must have been the perfect storm for spawning.

Interesting. I do have less problems with fluoro than with braid. I may have to give that Blue Label in 20-30 a try in the more pike invested lakes I fish. I will still use a leader when catching giant pike on the Mississippi.

Tell me more about this Blue Label for pike. I am interested. They rob me blind on a lot of the lakes down here. Thanks

Baits you plan on trying this year.
I am going to give swimbaits a go this year. I have purchased quite a few over the last couple years and never really gave them a try. I need to grab a capable rod and reel. I also think this could be a bad idea as our lakes have a large amount of vegetation. I know a couple hammers that have made them work at the correct time of year, so it is possible. It just looks interesting enough to make me want to try it.

Pod casts
WaskaCrank12, if you are going to listen to Teal’s Bass Galaxy, please don’t judge it on the recent episode, “Fishing DeGens1”. That was not a great episode. Not the norm.

Most Sensitive Jig Rod ~$300?
The way I see it, a better quality rod will not hurt you at all. It will be easier to fish (lighter), and could/should be better at detecting bites. If you have the resources and desire, buy the best you feel you need.

Looks like you live in the Alexandria region possibly. I love that area and may retire there. Teal lives north of the cities and talks northern Bassin too. He fishes the Champions Tour and other tourneys. He is a good mix of fishing tips, strategy, tourneys, and personalities. Some of his podcasts are like 3 hours. Hope you like it.

Finally chose my rod!
Solid versatile rod. Can do a lot with a 6’10” ML. Hammer those smallies!

The latest sale thread
I don’t think ANYONE was ready for Covid. They (TW) tried to maneuver it like everyone else. To expect anyone to perform the same during that time is ridiculous. They have worked hard to get back and provide a great service. With that said, I do order a TON from Midway, and look at a lot of other places and find great deals. It is hard to beat the selection at TW though.

Casting Or Spinning
I think most of sensitivity comes from time on the water. Knowing what a bite is on that particular equipment. would assume if using a casting rod most of the time and training yourself to “feel” bites with it, will make that rod more sensitive “to you”. Conversely with a spinning rod. I have to admit, when I break a rod I have used for a long time on a technique, then have to move to a new one, it takes a while to feel that sensitivity again. (Obviously trying to match equal quality equipment)

My Favorite New Tackle Storage Box
I also love the 3650 box. I use the big section on the right for hooks in their packages. I use the divided section for weights, pegs, rings, swivels, etc.

My Favorite New Tackle Storage Box
I have a couple of those in my Amazon cart, what is the quality like in hand?? I am not sure they are that exact name brand, but they all probably come out of the same factory. They look solid.

Cast
I watched it. It is interesting to see the history and passion for the sport. They sure had a big vision for B.A.S.S.

Daiwa Rebellion Rods Discontinued?
Is there a reason you like the elite better for drop shot?? I would prefer the grip on the elite more if it is better.

Jigs: rattles vs no rattles
^^^^. I am with Northern Basser. I will experiment with rattles in jigs to see if that is what they want, but would much rather go without. I have found I hate skipping a jig with rattles, and I skip a jig a lot. There are times when it has mattered to get bites. I do like a rattle when fishing deep rocks or dragging a jig. Crayfish make a ticking sound and I want to think it helps. Most of the time, it doesn’t seem to matter much where I fish.

Daiwa Rebellion Rods Discontinued?
That is what I wanted to hear!! Thanks! I hope to grab one on sale over the winter months during this horrible long stretch. I would also consider the new Elites as a drop shot rod. Just heard so many positives how the regular Tatula fishes well above its price. (Fishes like a $300 rod)

Wood Grubs for Panfish!
I would assume they would work. We fish goldenrod grubs around here as well as wax worms, spikes, meal worms, etc. I would for sure bring them with you to try but have an alternative in case they don’t work. Nice to have a comparison bait as well to test how they are working.

What a wife…
I also have a great wife of 30+ years. She got a big promotion a few years ago and dumped $70,000 on a new boat she knew I wanted. She also allows me to fish anytime. Now, I have always been respectful and ask if she needs me for anything or do we have anything going on. She also likes that I don’t go out drinking and/or finding trouble. I was always there when the kids were little and we spent all our time as a family. I also encourage her to do things with her friends. She will fish with me when she feels like it and enjoys it. Beyond fishing, she is also an incredible person, mother, best friend!! I feel very blessed to have her in my life. And she knows that!!!!

Daiwa Rebellion Rods Discontinued?
Wow!! Any favorites? Do you happen to have the Tatula 7’1” drop shot spinning rod? Might be my next purchase. Have heard great things.
