  1. I think I like a clip point for all around use. My mini-grip is a sheepsfoot and the blunt nose makes it difficult to stick it into things, although it is sticky sharp. And serrated blades aren't quite as useful as a good plain edge. Ares/732 on top and Mini-Grip on bottom. Anthony
  2. www.knifeworks.com Customer service is beyond excellent, and the prices on everything is the best I have found. They went above and beyond when I needed knives for gifts to the guys in my wedding party. The BM mini-grip is available in a variety of colors and blade styles and is the one I carry when I need something smaller than my 734. I don't think there is a production knife manufacturer that compares with Benchmade in terms of quality and value, and I have had a lot of knives. Anthony
  3. Benchmade mini-Griptillian.
  4. The warranty situation is partially true. Most rodbuilders have a prorated warranty, but they can't act like GLoomis. Rods wouldn't break if taken care of. While there are a lot of rods out there now, and very good ones, it still doesn't compare to the options in a custom rod. Anthony
  5. Is this still being debated? It can easily be solved with this:
  6. Check this out. This is an encounter on north Wheeler earlier this year. Talked to him about the river levels and then I realized who I was talking to. Pretty cool.
  7. It will definately be 25lbsf.
  8. I read a lot of posts about rods and how factory offerings often leave something out. Like, "I like the feel of this rod, but the grip is too short." Or, "This rod is nice but I wish it were a couple of inches longer. I am wondering why more people don't consider having a rod built for them to get exactly what they want. Money? Time? Anthony Robertson
  9. Black wraps? Maybe a dark blue? Anthony
  10. From what I have gathered the only breakages of the blank between the split reel seats have been extremely over-stressed. I can't see a rod breaking there without actually trying to break it. Swampland has the fully open back Castaway seats which can be modified to a split more easily than some others. Anthony
  11. Swampland has some discount blanks on sale that are wonderful for $16. 7'MH I have built a handful of them and they weight about 4.5ozs assembled with micro guides. I have sold a couple and the people love them. Anthony

And I carry because I couldn't live with myself if I let anything happen to my loved ones. Its also funny the "uneducated" think that those that carry are always looking for trouble, when in my personal experience it is exactly opposite. Still can't read the future. Anthony

I carry a gun always. I can't read the future, so I don't know what may happen. I still carry although I have never come close to having to clear leather. I do frequent some shady ramps though. Anthony
  15. I don't care for them. I have built several rods with them for people that do like them, but I don't. Anthony
  16. That looks sharp. Anthony
  17. That is a kilocalorie, or C.
  18. Don't think so. Hint: Young's modulus is a material property.
  19. They aren't all that small, and they are just as safe as any other car. The key to surviving is not to get hit. Kinda like taking a punch. I like VWs to an extent, and German cars in general, but they have their issues. www.vwvortex.com Anthony
  20. A calorie is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1gram of water 1C. ETA: What is the modulus of elasticity (Young's Modulus), E, of the gears in a Curado 100d?
  21. It doesn't bother me that someone isn't any good at backing a trailer, or forgets to unlatch something. Its the people that hold up the ramp to work on their boat, or block the ramp while prepping. Don't typically see anglers do that, just the twice a year pleasure boaters. Anthony
  22. Anodizing the spool will not hurt the performance. It is only a few 0.001's thick. Sharp though. Anthony
  23. I don't know your capabilities. I think some people are just more inclined to be able to mess with certain things. I am one of those people that feel can take absolutely anything apart and get it back together correctly. I currently have a bag of Citica on the bench among other things. Its not rocket science though. And its a lot easier than these midterms. Anthony
  24. Most of the guys I have seen using round reels hold the foregrip and the line. Old school I guess. I have seen Shaw Grigsby do this, and several others. Anthony
