  1. If you want more manual control in an inexpensive camera that takes great pictures, get the Fuji S700/S5700. I wouldn't spend anymore on a point n shoot when you can get a DSLR kit for $460. Anthony
  2. Or the Skeet Reese Lamiglas SR705. Its a glass rod, but sensitive. Anthony
  3. I must have looked through Kirkman's intro book 50 times. With that, Rodbuilding.org, and DG's tutorials, you should be well on your way. Some of the stuff is still better learned on your own though. Anthony
  4. They made them as powerful as the 200ds and as light as the 100ds. There is no reason to release a 100 size. They still have the 50mg. Those things are sweet. Anthony
  5. It isn't going to be under much load. However, you can pick up a rotisserie motor off the bay for $10-$15. They last a long time too. Anthony
  6. Half of all people who own Nitros like theirs. With a 18 or 19ft boat you will be looking for a 150-200hp engine. You should be able to get into a late model DFI for your price and they get good mileage. Anthony
  7. Yeah. I figured Tiger was on the roids when I saw his bodybuilder physique. He may be on steroids- they do that after surgery. Anthony
  8. Yall are funny. I worked there for a year selling firearms- I know exactly how bad that place can be. Its like anywhere, though; good people don't work very long for $8/hour. Anthony
  9. Most saltwater/offshore rods actually use Hypalon, a rubber based material. It is more durable than both cork and EVA but is not light. Anthony
  10. There are a lot of reports over at another site. This time of year the big worm is king. However, it does seem that the bass are hitting slop frogs earlier than usual. Still catching them early and late on topwaters. I'll let you know in a week if I can get out there. Anthony
  11. Go with the Skeet Reese Cranking rod. He had about 6 in his rod locker at the Southern Challange. Anthony
  12. By basic model do you mean 17'? I think the current short boat offerings from most manufacturers are under powered. Either way I think Stratos makes better boats than Nitro. You can get a lot of used boat for the money though- something I would consider if I were in the market for a boat. Anthony
  13. Jay- Is that the Spotsticker reel seat in the last picture? How do you like it? PS- Between fishing and building rods and everything else, I am working on a 98 z28, MTI R1 cam, LTs, stall, etc. Anthony
  14. Just finished a father/son pair for Father's Day. Simple spiral, 3.5mm running guides. Anthony
  15. Biffle said in the ESPN article that there was a sign in the woods a ways from where he was fishing. How can you see a sign in the woods? And what DNR agent stops a wrapped boat? Said he also had 18lbs in the bag at the time. Anthony
  16. The Elite boys said they are shooting to get all their weight in the boat Thursday and Friday. Why are they launching at 8? That seems ridiculous. Anthony
  17. Its really not magic. If you can operate a lathe you can definately make wooden handles. Go to www.rodbuilding.org and read. Tons and Tons of stuff on there. Anthony
  18. I had a dozen people ask me "Are they selling those here?" at the weigh in. I said "Well, uh, this is one of two. I hope not." Boyd Duckett's deck would have kept a family of rabbits fed for a year though. Anthony
  19. I'm with Speedbead. He is the right. I have pulled countless ticks out of myself over the years and I always get a bump that stays there for weeks and itches for a long time. Never get sick though. Anthony
  20. Top water rod.
  21. The black wrapped one is mine and the orange wrapped one is a customers. That really is Skeet Reese's signature, he was kind enough to autograph it at the Southern Challenge. To add: Simple spiral, 4mm Alconite running guides.
  22. I use EVA on almost all the rods I build. I like the look, the weight, the durability, and the price. Good cork is about $1.25/in. Good hard EVA is a bit different than the bargain store specials. My hands only touch the handle to cast anyway, not when working it. Anthony
  23. With no cover you could get by with using a standard MH rod for frogs. When I frog fish, it is in stuff you can almost walk across. The key is to set the hook and turn the fish before it can sink itself into the mat. When you get the fish in the boat, it is liable to weigh 15lbs with all the grass hanging off it. Anthony
  24. If you ever get a chance to go to a weigh-in/launch, do it. twice.
  25. The Lamiglass Skeet Reese cranking rod. A bit more expensive, but I don't think a better one can be found. Anthony
