Kistler rods
The hook keeper sucks like no other though. Anthony

Kistler rods
I bet if you did happen to have a Kistler with a loose reel seat, they would make it right. I'm still not particularly fond of their rods though. I can build my own better for less. Anthony

Kistler rods
I've had two LTAs with the Batson reelseats and 1 with the new ACS Fuji and they all work well. Had a Mg that was also fine. I have used a half dozen or so Batson reel seats on my rod builds and haven't had any problems with them either. I have had a few St. Croix Avids with loose seats though. I don't think the Kistlers are worth the money, but they do have excellent customer service.

Light Reel to Put on a Carrot Stick
I don't reckon you can beat a Citica 100 for the dollar but for that rod you really need a 50mg. Sometimes can be Ebayed for $150 or so. Anthony

switching baits out on braid?
I must be the only one here with a sharp pocket knife...

switching out a curado handle?
Yes! I had a 200d handle on my 100b and it was great until someone swiped it out of the boat. The 200d handle from Shimano is $38, IIRC. Anthony

Looking for a decent LOW speed reel
Delo's Custom Tackle Shack sells Citicas all day long for $100 shipped. Delo's rocks and so do Citicas. The 200DPV is 5:1. Anthony

I call this bs.
There are so many variables in street racing that you can't make comparisons. And I don't think any SRT-4 would keep up with a 600whp car. My friend's '71 Nova 400 sb +spray runs 6.40s in the 1/8 and its probably 560whp or so. Another buddy could stomp almost anyone in his 350whp GTP--he left early everytime. They kept chasing, so he kept leaving early. SRT-4s can run well but they aren't in bolt-on LS1 or LT1 territory. And forget power-adder cars and H/C. Anthony

Smallie's can FIGHT!!! no exxageration
A good friend of mine said he caught a 27" smallie at Tims Ford earlier this year. Said it was 3" past his Golden Rule but he didn't have a scale on him.... Anthony

College, Fishing, and the works. Need some advice.
1. Don't get married. 2. Don't have kids. You just freed up the rest of your life! Score! And get a useful degree. I can't stand it when people graduate making $12/h and are $30k in debt from school loans. Its stupid. Degrees are good, but you don't have to go to school if you have skills and can market them. Liddell vs. Silva will finally happen!!!!
Ahh, Liddell ain't all he is cracked up to be. His weakness (and a big one) is that he takes punches to give punches, and that just doesn't work against someone who can knock houses off foundations. He is a puncher who comes from different angles and hits people on the button with power. His takedown defense is pretty good but I don't care for his overall game. Silva is sometimes too aggressive for his own good. I like watching him fight though. I'm glad Hughes gets to fight Serra although I don't care for either one of them. I'm no Canadian fan but GSP looked excellent when he beat Hughes and then got stomped by Serra :-/ Didn't bring his A game. Anthony

I was reading about that Daiwa stuff at TackleTour and apparently it breaks well below its rating.

FLW At Pickwick Lake This Week!
Temps are supposed to drop 10 degrees over Thursday. I am anxious to see how they do. What do you think it will take to win it? Anthony

FLW At Pickwick Lake This Week!
I'll probably go to the weigh in Saturday. I still haven't fished Pickwick though. Anthony

Hunting / Target Rifle
Savage makes a good accurate rifle in that price range. The Remington 700 is a time proven design and will not let you down. The H&R Handi-Rifles are accurate and pretty cheap. Leaves more money for good glass. I concur on the .243 Anthony

Re: Shimano Question
If you like a lighter, smaller reel that gives up nothing for it, try the Citica 100DSV. I love those things, and they seem to cast a bit better than the 200s. Anthony

Look what happened....
I don't think that some of yall know what "diminishing returns" are. With today's rod quality, there is no way a $300 rod is 3x better (strength, sensitivity, weight, etc.) than a $100 rod. The $300 rod is still better than the $100 rod. You have to make your own decision as to whether it is worth the premium.

St. Croix Triumph
You really think so? I haven't seen any indication of poor quality. Unless the Triumph sticker peeling is a big deal. It is a $60 rod with a good blank. You can't buy the blank for that. I like mine and I have been fishing them hard for about 1 1/2 years. Anthony

St. Croix Triumph
I have 4 Triumphs and I think they are great. I haven't had any issues with them. Epoxy can be cracked by mishandling at the store. Anthony

I want a GOOD knife. Benchmade, SOG, or?
For that budget the Chris Reeves Sebenza is supposed to be the cat's meow. I have 0 experience with them other than reading about them from many different sources. I carry several Benchmades and love them. I think they are the best production knife going. I would recommend the 710 And a plain blade. Serrations don't cut well enough to be worth the hassle. And check out www.knifeworks.com There prices are the cheapest I have found and the customer service is excellent. I bought $400 worth of knives there for my groomsmen a couple weeks ago and they went beyond themselves to help me out. Anthony
