  1. The last couple of weeks everywhere I've gone there are little 4-8"bass jumping all over trying to get dragonflys.
  2. 25 plus years in my 10 foot jon
  3. If it has a ball bearing swivel [ which it probably does] these can sometimes get sand or dirt in them preventing them from spinning properly. Try rinsing the swivel under running water to clean it out. This is also why I only use crane swivels on baits I make myself.
  4. Double blade buzzbait Toad Frog Double wide beaver Single blade buzzbait
  5. I just tell myself it beats work, raking, mowing, shoveling snow etc.
  6. Largemouth probably 98 baitcast 2 spin Smallies probably 90 casting 10 spin
  7. Weeds pads cheese mats and the edges of all these are a good place to start. Also if your out early enough the you should be able to find a "shady side".
  8. Strike king trailers are good in a pinch but the eye is a little small. What I really prefer are siwash hooks as they have shorter shank and a wider gap. 2 or 3/0 are good although I do like 4/0 but some may find this to big.
  9. I used to be a gatorholic but as I got older I was worried about excess salt and sugar so I switched to sugar free drink mixes. But i always felt like it wasn't enough on the water in the heat of summer so I recently started adding this to my drinks.
  10. More than I can count. But the pain passes eventually. One in.particilar was a 6+(estimatedof course) that broke me off at the boat. I lunged to try and belly scoop her but missed then sat for about 5 minutes dumbfounded as the breeze drifted me away. When I finally decided to retie I looked around and-no rod- I can only surmise that I had backkicked it overboard in my attempt to grab the fish. Oh well just a 180 dollar Loomis. ?
  11. "when I tighten the spool tension knob for challenging casts; like skipping" maybe I've got it backwards but for skipping I think you should free up the spool and crank up the brakes
  12. my thought would be that if your frog is deep enough in the fishes mouth for that to be effective you should be able to hook them regardless of fur or not.
  13. I think it would be fine.
  14. Keep going back. Best thing you can do is see your local waters in all their seasons to try and figure out what works when so as to create a library of info in your head that you can work off of for years to come.
  15. Im not a mod. But i believe there is a rule against "plugging" companies with your avatar pic.
  16. I trim both, skirts to the hook weedguards a little past/above the hook. A shorter weed guard will be stiffer which will be better when around heavy cover. When fishing more around weeds i thin out by about half
  17. For spinnerbait and buzzbaits always and trim skirts back
  18. Sounds like postspawn for sure which is junk fishing time for me. Was out yest. Got 13 but it was like 5 on a sqarebill 4 on a spinnerbait 3 on a buzzbait and 1 on a toad. If the weeds are just below the surface it's perfect for a buzzbait over the top of them especially in low light situations.
  19. I agree with this 100%. When I see these mats out comes the toad rod. Only thing different is I like a big bite baits top toad.

Voted yes but I believe color can matter at times as well regardless of water clarity.
  21. Well that's pretty much along what I would use only thing I could add would be that in situations like that I try to get around shallow weed out of heavy winds. They seem to hold heat a little better.
  22. It's unlikely that the water temp dropped 20 degrees what were you throwing?
  23. I get these every so often. What I do is slip the tip of my needle nose pliers into the loop and try to pry open the loop a little. If the loop opens then just pull on both ends of the line and the knot should pop out. If the loop won't give I just cut and either retie or splice with a uni to uni knot. Also should have said wet the wind knot first.
