  1. I do not own one of them, but I do know that BPS makes some quality reels. I have used the Extreme and Prolite Finesse. Some reels that I know people have been very pleased with include the Extreme, Bionic Plus, Prolite Finesse, and Pro Qualifier. All of those are around your price point. The older Bionic Plus is for sale at $40, the older extreme is $65, the Prolite is $70 and the new Pro Qualifier is $100.
  2. This reel was purchased online with a host of other things, so I was unable to verify that it works properly. However I will not be making online orders from now on. I will just take the hour or so drive to Cabelas. So much for saving time and gas money. Thanks for your help all.
  3. I can return it, but before I drove to Cabelas I just wanted to make sure that I was not missing something. Thanks
  4. Has the flipping switch on the Accurist PT changed? I purchased my second Accurist and noticed a problem with the switch. I am supposed to be able to lift my thumb off the thumb bar and the spool stops, while in flipping mode. However no matter what position I have the flipping switch in, I have to crank the handle to stop the spool. Am I missing something, or is this a flaw?
  5. Hey all, I just bought a new combo from Cabelas today. Though it is not even close to my most expensive combo it feels great! I picked up a new Citica E and paired it with a Clarus. I have always loved the way the Clarus fit my hand, and the Citica was a perfect mate. For those who are on a tight budget, and are in the market for a new combo you should put these 2 together and see how it feels. I also have a Compre that I am going to put the Citica on to see how it feels. I do not know if it will feel better, but if it does, even better. Oh, I was able to pick up the Clarus for $50, so all together the combo cost me $170. It will make a perfect river combo. I can't wait to fish it.
  6. I was just looking at their reels earlier today and thought they looking much better. I have taken a liking to the Rick Cunn. Love the new handle designs. Also, I have fished with an older Pro Lite for the past 2 years or so without any problems. A quality reel. I think I will be heading out some day soon to make a few purchases.
  7. I had the same questions about 2 months ago. My choices were a Sahara for $40, or a Symetre for $50. At first I bought the Sahara, then I received a $10 off coupon good for my next purchase. I figured I would return the Sahara and buy the Symetre for $40. (Sahara was never opened or fished with.) I have fished with both, and have had many friends fish with both. They nor I can tell the difference. To me, there is no benefit in buying the Symetre, unless you can get it for almost the same price.
  8. I love the tap on the end of the line. I love to swing on a fish and feel the fight. Especially the fight from them river smallmouths! 8-)
  9. NEVER SETTLE. Keep looking, in time, you will find what you are looking for. I cannot tell you how many times I was too impatient to wait for what I truly wanted and settled for something inferior. If you want a 42 of 48, then thats what you get. Just my opinion.
  10. Trust me, the 50mg is worth every penny. Many people are talking about how great the Curado is. Well think of it like this, for $30 more you could get the 50mg. The 50mg is a $250 reel, but you can get them for $180. That's a steal.
  11. Raul, I LOVE THAT REEL. I personally think it is the coolest looking reel ever made. Expensive as all get out. Man, I will own one of them some day. Soon I hope.
  12. The Chronarch 50MG reel will no longer be manufactured. Shimano will be dropping the Chronarch MG reel. This is sad. I love that reel.
  13. I agree a lot of "repeat questions" and "basic questions" however we all have joined a forum to give and receive help. When I first started posting on forums, I would get the typical do a search answer, and nothing made me more aggravated. Though I am still a rookie poster, I do my research, and post when I cannot find what I am looking for. If we just refer everyone to do a search, then we are not helping the new person out much. Most of us probably had help from someone when we started out fishing. I had to learn on my own and thanks to helpful forums and their members I was able to get answers and tips. Lets just try to be as helpful as possible That's what make a forum like this truly successful.

Muddy, the angle of the hook seems to be the most logical answer. The only differing factors were a split shot and a hook. Assuming the split shot and the jig head were made of the same material, the difference must be in the hook. I am not a professional or an expert, just my thoughts.
  15. Here is my PB, it went 4.3 on my Berkley scale. Looks bigger to me, but I am most likely wrong. I should have weighed her again, but I was in a hurry it set it free. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1224554690
  16. Thanks all. I live in Pottstown, and she was caught out of the Skuykill River.
  17. So I was out tonight fishing, I had and hour so I thought maybe I could land a few. I brought only a few spinnerbaits and two packs of tubes. I was planning on just throwing spinners, but realized I was already set up for tubes. So I was wading and throwing up to the bank. About 15 minutes into the trip I hook a pig. I thought for sure it was a catfish because it went deep and would not come up. It was not for a few minutes until the fish showed itself to me. I realized it was a monster Smallie. It was at this point in time that I started to get nervous. After a few more minutes the battle was over and I was holding a 4.3# Smallie. She was 21 inches long, and will count for my personal best bass. (I know, kind of small, but its PA.) I will post a picture, but I forgot my scale and camera at home so I had to drive 2 minutes to my house. She was weighed, measured, photographed and released. I REPEAT, SHE WAS RELEASED WITHOUT A PROBLEM. The picture was taken in my driveway. I made sure to speed the process along so I could get her back into the water. I had a few people telling me to mount it, and another wanting to eat it. I made sure to put her back where she came from. As I was putting her into the water she kind of chilled out for a few minutes, then swam away. I stayed in the water making sure she did not resurface for several minutes.
  18. I am kind of wondering the same thing. I have an important event this weekend on the river as well. Anybody know what the fish will do in a river system when the temperatures drop?
  19. WOW, I am shocked. I thought that it might be about 100. Then again I have never poured plastics before. I was just curious to know if it would be that cost efficient. Next, how would I go about making a Sizmic Toad mold? Thanks.
  20. Hey, I was curious to know how many plastic lures (Frog Baits) I could get from the 1 gallon and 5 gallon things of plastic? Thanks in advance.
  21. Hey all, I will be taking a trip to fish the Susky this weekend and was wondering how you all were doing in the river out in Clearfield. I will be in the area of Curwensville Dam. How are the Smallies hitting? What are they going after? Do you all have any spots for a bank fisher to go to? Thanks in advance for any information
  22. I had the same problem with them beavers as well. I started using an Owner Sled Head weighted hook. It allowed me to screw in the beaver and tex-post it well. I found that I have increased my hook up ratio. Not to mention I don't ruin as many beavers.
  23. I loved my 50 Mg. I regret selling it, but I needed the money. It was the best casting reel that I ever used. For me, it was next to impossible to backlash. Great reel.
  24. I was in the market for a revo as well. I went with the SC simply because I wanted a burner reel. If they offered the S in a 7.1.1 I would own one. I am already happy with my SC. I think that Abu hit the nail on the head with this series.
