How Important Is Rod/reel Balance?
ibalance all my rods and reels to the center of the reel seat.this makes the tip weightless and extremely more sensitiveimho.i also disagree with people who say you don't need to balance a crank/spinnerbait rod.the reason for this is i feel a balanced rod is less stressful during casting also.you are not trying to stop a tip heavy tip from continung it's motion.the tip stops when you want it.after hundreds of flips and pitches it's also noticable.a rod balanced to the center of the reel seat will balance with any reel.imho a rod balanced to the center of the reel seat is a must.

Fireline Braid Versus Sufix 832
but the fireline braid does hold color better than others i've used.

Fireline Braid Versus Sufix 832
used power pro for years.call me willing to admit when something is better.the color bleed on the 832 is worse than the bleed on fireline.

Fireline Braid Versus Sufix 832
some of you guys have accused me of working for berkley because of my love for fireline braid over the past 2 years.i still think it's a great braid but i now have found one i feel is better.sufix 832 imho is a superior in some respects.i will now have to work for sufix. fireline braid in 30 lb and higher is still the smoothest braid out there.the suffix is slightly rougher but it doesn't make any more noise.it's quiet even on recoils. the thing i really like about the suffix is it definately casts furthur and it is definately more sensitive.i didn't think you could get any more sensitivity but because this line slowly sinks it goes straighter to the bait.i can feel things with this line that i didn't feel with other braids.the line also does not digg in and is harder to backlash. as i said the line slowly sinks.it does not sink fast enough to ruin a topwater baits action.this means you can use it for either application. it does lose it's color but all braids do.

Braided Line Question
i use braid for everything.i use it in the same diameter as i would use a mono line. this keeps all your lures running at the same depths as you are used to.50/12 is minimum imho on a baitcaster and i use 6/20 on a spinning rod.i have changed from fireline braid to sufix 832 0n the spinning rod for two reasons.the first is fireline braid is not 8 strand until you hit 30 lb test and i wanted 20 lb.the second is the sufix slowly sinks.the sufix 832 is the most sensitive line i have ever used bar none.

Never Used Braid Could Use Some Input.
you can like it all you want.i like 55 chevies.they are still outdated.it's not an insult it's just a fact.powerpro is a rough 4 strand not round outdated braid.sufix 832,fireline braid and diawa braid are all modern smooth round 8 strand braids.this makes them dig less and handle better than any outdated 4 strand braid.maybe we should all go back to a stick and bobber with 10 feet of string.

Never Used Braid Could Use Some Input.
why would you go back tto powerpro.sufix 832 blows it away.i don't hate powerpro.i used to use it.isn't the point of these forums to become aware of better performing products?powerpro had it's time as the number one braid.there are far better braids available.why read these forums if you're gonna stay stuck in a rut.
-
Never Used Braid Could Use Some Input.
do not buy stealth.if you want a floating braidd buy fireline braid.if you want a sinking braid get sufix 832.powerpro is outdated as are most other braids.the fireline and sufix are the two smoothest and roundest braids out there.

Best Line With Low Memory
fireline braid or sufix 832 braid.

Mono? Braid? Line On Your Reel
never use a leader.i hate the knots going through the guides and i don't think it matters.i use 20 lb braid spinning and 50 lb brad casting.if fishing really heavy weeds 50 lb braid or higher is a big advantage.

Fishing Line??
that's cause cajun makes a bunch of different red lines.red cast does not coiul up unless you spool it wrong.
-
Sufix 832
it might not sink in salt water.salt water is more boyuant than fresh water.
-
Fishing Line??
i've caught tons of fish on cajun red cast line.the only reason i stopped using it is i've switched to braid because i like the sensitivity.cajun red cast is one of the finest mono lines made.

Thinking Of Getting A Pflueger Patriarch Bc
7to 1 is way to fast to crank.the price is right but i don't know if you'll get used to it.
-
Thinking Of Getting A Pflueger Patriarch Bc
i am a patriarch lover but the 6 to 1 isn't super fantastic for cranking.i have the opposite issue as i can not use a lefty reel.i love the patriarch but i think you would be ill advised to spend 200 on a reel that will never be comfortable for you.
-
Sufix 832
sufix 832 i decided to try a spool of 20/6 on my spinning reel.i know i push fireline braid and i still love it but it doesn't come in an 8 strand under 30 lb.this results in a rougher fininish than the 30 lb and higher line has.this is my only ***** with the line.i hate braid noise and the rougher the finish the more noise you get. anyway i was wondering what guys like about it and don't like about it.i like the finish and find it as smooth but not smoother than the 30lb and up fireline.i know it's supposed to sink and i was wondering if that helps or hurts it for certain applications.like does it sink fast enough to pull down a topwater?do i still need a floating braid for topwaters?any wind knot/tangling issues?any digging issues?
