  1. I don't get frustrated but I don't get much enjoyment out of catching 10" bass. As long as they are of legal size, I'm good with them. It's a mental thing for sure. Funny thing is I do enjoy catching bluegill and crappie.
  2. My wife grew up on Clear Lake and she actually would ask to go fishing when we started dating. She pretty much got me back into it. And she wanted a sparkly Ranger bass boat. I wasn't about to argue lol.
  3. I only fish with my wife or son but most of the time alone. Not a lone wolf by any means, I just l solitude.
  4. Precisely. There have been a few studies that have come to the same conclusion. You're better off snagging the smart fish and keeping them
  5. Diamond Valley Lake removed his claimed lake record.
  6. I have only seen a warden once in the 40+ years I have been fishing. That one time, I didn't have my license as I had been saltwater fishing a few days before and it was with my salt fishing gear not on my bass boat. He looked at my boat and said he was pretty sure I had a license if I spent that much money to fish and let me go lol.
  7. While I agree completely, the San Diego Lakes want big fish caught. That why Mike Long was given special permissions to fish closed lakes or fish after hours. Drums up business for the lakes.
  8. 4/0 Roboworm Rebarb 5/0 Eagle Claw Finesse Worm For a 5" Senko or 6" Jelly Worm, I think the 4/0 Rebarb is a little small. I would use a 5/0 Rebarb if they made them.
  9. I did the same. I paid cash but I don't blame people who finance them. Everything I enjoy cost $$$. I'm not going to be afraid to spend and not enjoy life for fear of what could happen. I'm lucky that my wife loves fishing (she grew up on Clear Lake). We have a lot of great times on the water and hopefully our son will enjoy it too and we will have memorable times together. I also live in a reasonable, paid for house. I'm often tempted to move but the average houses around here are $900,000+. I always wonder how people afford those.
  10. Many of our lakes here in SoCal have advisories about eating LMB or striped bass due to high mercury levels. Supposedly because of all the coal power plants in China. Sounds crazy I know but look it up.
  11. That's what I do with a Bass Pro E-Z Retriever attached. This one is 26": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4LWD0D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-e-z-lure-retriever
  12. Garmin, Hummingbird, Lowrance, Motorguide, Minn Kota...I've experienced poor customer service with all of them at times.
  13. Finally back on the water after being boatless for 5 months. 2019 Ranger Z185, Mercury 150 Pro XS 4S, Lowrance HDS Carbon 12 & 9 with SS3D, Minn Kota Ultrex.
  14. Huk

I always pronounced it wrong until I had a buddy that works for AFTCO correct me lol.
  15. I use it for weightless Texas rig. 4/0 for 5" Senko's, 3/0 for 4"
  16. I haven't heard any hints and I doubt MG has any answer for the Ultrex coming out soon. Otherwise KVD (sponsored by MG for a long time) wouldn't have left MG to get an Ultrex on his boat. I have been hearing that Lowrance or Garmin may be coming out with a TM.
  17. What color is the top bait?
  18. I surfed the better part of my life so yes, I'm pretty comfortable in water including cold water. And clothing doesn't weigh that much in water. Most shoes I fish in float. Pants and shirts are fairly neutral buoyant. Throw some cloths in the water. They don't sink like a brick. Pulling yourself out of the water is another matter as those wet cloths now weigh a lot once you clear the water.
  19. Kind of a key point of a tin boat is low maintenance isn't it? I just wipe it down with Slick Mist and am done.
  20. I'm 51 and gave up tournament fishing about 15 years ago. Tournament/club fishing ruined the fun for me. Didn't regularly fish for almost a decade. Got back into it and now it's just about the passion and fun. I would rather be the only one out on a lake. I avoid fishing weekends as there is just about always a tournaments going on. Plan to keep it this way.
  21. I have mostly Phenix rods because they are great rods, their warranty and they are local for me (SoCal). I had a bunch of Fenwick's with defective guides and I had to send them back to Fenwick at my cost. F that I threw them in the trash. Doesn't do you any good if Phenix is local to you though. You should be able to take the rod to an authorized dealer for warranty inspection.
  22. I'm currently using Fenwick Lunker Sticks for cranking duty and like them a lot.
