  1. Listen guys, if you jig skirt comes off while retrieving, fix it, then on the next cast, cast as far as you can towards the deepest spot of the lake. Use a normal retrieve and hang on! This is what happend when my friend cought the biggest bass I have ever seen. If you catch a big one, thats great! If you dont, that means you will not catch another fish for 3 hours. (tis the truth) BTW the skirt has to come off by itself. If you take it of on purpose then put it back on, you will not catch anything over 2lbs. Also, never, ever, Ever EVER say "foul hooked". Thats what whats-his-face said the cast before he foul hooked the 25lb bass. My friend was using a X-rap for the first time, and I said "I bet your first fish will be foul hooked" and the next cast sure enough he foul hooked one.
  2. Pickerel seem to like the long, thin lures with a tight wobble. I have done great on jerkbaits and rapalas. Also they love spinnerbaits. In the summer they like the retrieve fast, and they will chase it down right to the boat. They are fun fish.
  3. That is one of the most MOOKlarius things I've ever read! ;D (well, not really. I just said that so I could say somthing with MOOK in it)
  4. OK thanks i was wondering what was up...
  5. When I try to go the home page all that comes up is this message saying that "this page no longer exists" uhhhh WHAT??!
  6. Hey muddy I made this little sig add-on real quick. let me know what you think
  7. 7lbs and 20 inches long? WHAT WAS HER GIRTH?!?!!??! lol Congrats! Glad to here everything went well! Remember she is never to young to take fishing. Matt
  8. Hey guys, I'm surprised with all the negitive views on releasing a big bass. (record) I dont know if you all guys know, But right now I am going after the record, and I think I have about a 10% chance of getting it. (for reasons that have to be left unkown) And, If I where to have a certified scale, witnesses, plenty of picutres, I would release the record bass. Here are my reasons: 1. I might be able to still get my name in the books. If I dont, who cares? I cought it, and I know the exact weight. I'm after this bass for the thrill of landing it, and the thrill of releasing it, and of course bragging rights so I can shut up all the people who think I'm crazy. 2. I see no reason why I should release a 10lb even bass (not the record) and NOT release a 11lbs even bass (record) just becuase it is a record. Life isn't about fame or fortune. I think it is downright wrong to keep a trophy bass. It's kinda like killing a doe that has twins with her. And having my name in the books and having my "collage paid for" should not be any reason why I should do something I beleive is wrong. 3. What if someone else catches it? Good for them. They can thank me for the fish of their life. If they release it, then maybe someone else can catch it. If that someone else catches it, then someone else might have the bass of their life. Screw the record books. Let me ask you this. Would the world be a better place if some guy finaly broke the record, or if someone cought the bass and released it, someone else cought it and released it, and so on. If someone else catches and doesnt release it, well, thats their problem. I would have done my part. tight lines MAtt PS if anyone is confused with this thread, I havn't cought the record bass. Yet. LOL
  9. Yup its "water meal", a weed aparently harmful to bass. If it takes over the pond it can relsult in fish kills. :-/ There is another type of weed, (still trying to identify it) so hopfuly it isnt harmful and will keep the water meal in check. Thanks guys
  10. LOL i thought this was good idea. ;D I was talking to LBH on aim (while he was reading the post and before he saw the picture) and i got him sooooo bad. I was crying with laughter. ;D:'( ;D
  11. I read yesterday in a article here at BassResource.com that soap, bug spray (deet), and sunscreen have a negitive impact on bass and and turn them away. It said some people think WD-40 is a atractant, but really it is a masking sent that covers up other sents. (becuase oils are not detected by a bass' smelling organs) So if your going to run them through th dishwasher I wouldn't use soap. (And if you get some sunscreen or any product with "deet" in it on your lure spray it with WD40) I would post the link to the article but i cant find it.... :-/ Tight lines Matt
  12. TOOK ME A LONG WHILE TO FIND WHAT EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT. WHEN I FOUND IT...THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO PULL THAT UP....I READ OTHERS COMMENTS BEFORE I LOOK AT PICS....LOL SO HE DIDN'T GET ME EITHER...LOL LOL I talked to Whitemike and LBH on AIM and told them to reply like i really did catch the record, so if people scrolled down a little before checking the picutre they wouldn't see all the other posts. BTW I got LBH soooo good. He was talking to me on AIM while he was reading the post and before he checked the picture and he was going on about it was insane for me to release it and how "it could have payed for your collage" and it was worth "$100k" and other stuff, then he clicked the link. I'm not joking, I was ROTFLing.
  13. Dude for some one who fishes as hard as you I'll pitch in to get you a shirt Nonsense. I have plenty of plain white shirts that I can "mookify", and that is the much cheaper alternitive. I'll just copy the design the best I can. Thanks alot for the kindness, but you have a fishing habbit to support too. Besides, just becuase you wear a suit doesnt make you the president, just becuase you where chains doesnt mean your a gansta, and just becuase you dont where the shirt doesnt mean your not a mook! Thanks again Matt
  14. Thanks just what I was looking for.
  15. I think the word your looking for is "Mookverted" ;D
  16. Rubbing alcohol and the ruff side of a foam spounge. Good as new and cheap as anything.
  17. Hey I need some help identifing some floating weeds. Last year somone posted a link to great website but I forgot what I read and the link. I'm looking for a website with some pictures for identifing and also the all the info and pros/cons of that type of weed for the bass, and the general pond. If anyone knows of a website like this and can post it that would be great. tight lines Matt
  18. Do you have to get a Tshirt if you join? Becuase I'm not Mr. Mookster Moneybags and depending on the price of custom shirts I might not be able to afford it. I got a fishing habit to suport you know So is it ok if I join and do not get a shirt?
  19. LOL I had read the term "jig-verted" on the forums somewhere, but forgot where. When i was posting it was the best thing I could think of for the title. Props to burley for the new phrase! And dont you want your jigs in craw 1.4oz?
  20. Nice fish! Keep it up!

  23. I think I am going to pee myself! Wait to your hear this! I CANT BELIVE IT! Today I hit my secret pond by myself. I was using jigs and jerkbaits to no avail. After a few hours, I tied on my mattlures Gill and started using that. At 3:30pm, rain drizziling, I hooked, fought and landed my first swimbait bass, and the bass of my dreams! 11lbs 4oz! I beat the state record (that stood for 27 years) by just 6oz! I weighed it on my digital scale, took 3 pictures, and released the mosnter. (I only had her out of the water for about 60 seconds) I AM SO FREAKING PUMPED! I AM STILL SHAKING!!! I'm the luckiest guy in the world! I spent more time and money going after this bass then anything else! She totaly distoried my swimbait, but I didnt care. She hit the bait close to the surface about 15ft out. I had 30lb powerpro and my drag tight, but she still ran out about 50 yards before she tired out. She didn't surface intill I had her right in, and I was so scared I would mess up and loose her I was afriad to lip her. I hauled her out (had to use both hands) and let out a long, loud, shaky, "YEEEEEHAAWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" another fisherman was on the other side of the lake and he came running over. "Holy ****! Holy ***!" was all he could say. He took the pictures, witnessed the weighing and the release, cursing up a storm the whole time. You are the first people (besides my family) to hear this news! I'm going to nodify the NJ Fish and Game deparment right after i post this. I dont know if they will give me the record because the scale isnt certified, but I dont know. I have the guy's name and phone number so they can have a witness. I always told myself I would release the record if I ever cought it, and thats what I did. I AM PUMPED!!!!!!! OK enough jibberish! Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the new record!!! I post more details and pictures later, I got some calls to make. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/recordbass11lbs4oz.jpg Tight lines! I still cant believe it! Matt
