  1. I'll have to test this out in my pool. *adds to bookmarks*
  2. I only put spray on my legs and head. The "deet" in bug juice has a negitive impact on bass. I read a article on that and it said that it (and a few other sents) puts the bass in "no-eat mode". So if your buddy is catching too many fish, spray his tackle box while he isnt looking. Hey Zonked, your sig cracks me up every time I see it! ;D ;D ;D
  3. I like to use 1/4 oz jigs with thick skirts. (any brand) All natural/dark colors will work great. Blue also works well. Use your Meduim/heavy rod. You'll need the power for hooksets. I usualy just bounce, twitch, hop, crawl, drag and jerk my jig slowly on the bottom. Fish around cover and in beds. You can also swim jigs, which is when you jerk/retreive it fast enough to keep it of the bottom. This can work great around wooden structure. The jig can imitate alot of things (usualy a craw) so you can fish it alot of different ways in alot of different places. If is a great lure to learn. Tight lines Matt
  4. I use photobucket. To resize, click the little "edit" button unbove the photo then click "resize" and select the size you want. Once you do this the photo will be that size forever, just to let you know. (i ruined a few picutures by down sizeing to much)
  5. One day a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach, with his fishing pole propped up in the sand and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf. He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish. About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to relieve some of the stress of his workday. He noticed the fisherman sitting on the beach and decided to find out why this fisherman was fishing instead of working harder to make a living for himself and his family. "You aren't going to catch many fish that way," said the businessman to the fisherman, "you should be working rather than lying on the beach!" The fisherman looked up at the businessman, smiled and replied, "And what will my reward be?" "Well, you can get bigger nets and catch more fish!" was the businessman's answer. "And then what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman, still smiling. The businessman replied, "You will make money and you'll be able to buy a boat, which will then result in larger catches of fish!" "And then what will my reward be?" asked the fisherman again. The businessman was beginning to get a little irritated with the fisherman's questions. "You can buy a bigger boat, and hire some people to work for you!" he said. "And then what will my reward be?" repeated the fisherman. The businessman was getting angry. "Don't you understand? You can build up a fleet of fishing boats, sail all over the world, and let all your employees catch fish for you!" Once again the fisherman asked, "And then what will my reward be?" The businessman was red with rage and shouted at the fisherman, "Don't you understand that you can become so rich that you will never have to work for your living again! You can spend all the rest of your days sitting on this beach, looking at the sunset. You won't have a care in the world!" The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "And what do you think I'm doing right now?"
  6. I found this spinnerbait online: http://www.harttackle.com/x2.html Anyone ever use it? Looks like a good idea. The only problem with it is that it looks like the lower wire might get in the way of hooksets. Just wondering if anyone has fished this bait.
  7. WELCOME! The is the biggest, best bunch of bass'n boys on the block!
  8. I havn't seen him in a long time. Looks like he skipped town.
  9. Powerbait 7" worms are the best plastic worm bait on the market IMHO. They come in a whole slewth of colors and simply catch alot of fish. Put the 7" or 10" on a 1/4 or 3/8oz jighead and fish it slow. The bass will hold on for a long time giving you much, much better hooksets than other worms. Powerbait is a must-have
  10. Yeah your probaly right, the picture is out of focus.
  11. For a jigs with good hooks and good skirts how much does it cost to make each one? (including paint, bristles, eyes, and lead. Not inlcuding the mold or melting pot) Can you melt lead on the stove top? What other suplies will I need besides the ones I mentioned? Thanks alot Matt
  12. Thats the exact rod I use for Mattlures. Don't you love the split-grip grip? (lol) For being so huge its pretty sensitive. It cast good and loads well, and I havn't had a single problem other than biking through traffic to go fishing with a 8ft rod sticking out. And its the only rod I have that I can change the TV channels with ;D
  13. I personaly think that the buzzbait resembles nothing. The bass strike out of impulse.
  14. I agree 100%. This year I've thrown a swimbait probaly twice as much as standered tackle. (aka: alot) The state record here is 10lbs 14oz. The list of anglers who cought DD's in NJ is quite small. (I guess not over 5) Hopfuly someday I'll be on that list.
  15. Thanks alot I'll have to try that! I copied and pasted it, so hurry and delete that post before anyone else reads it! ;D Question: Is there anyway to do this to a blue gill and release it?
  16. The Booyah Buzzbait is the best IMHO. The clacker makes all the difference. Black w/ silver prop in 1/2oz can't be beat.
  17. OK attept #1 failed. All I had was garlic salt and it made the vasaline too grainy to stick and discolored it to a light brown color. Garlic powder would probaly be the better choice. Attept #2 underway.....
  18. Hmmm.... Burley gave me a idea. I wonder if I could mix up somthing to use while I wait for the Megastrike. Vaseline, garlic powder, and maybe a few other things. Anyone else every try this? Thanks for the great idea! I'm heading to my test lab right now! (the kitchen sink)
  19. I believe Matt recommends Megastrike[/url and it's what I use. Yes, just a slow, steady retrieve at any depth you wish to fish it. I've had better luck with his Baby Bass but all his baits catch Bass, BIG Bass! Dan About how long will one tube last? Thanks Matt
  20. LOL when I get a hit saying it is a "thrill" is a understatement. I almost crap myself everytime I feel a bump. ;D I'm going to get some Baby Bass before too long. I'm kinda on a tight budget. And no, I dont use any sents/lubes. Think it will make a difference?
  21. I've been fishing a Mattlures Bluegill in a bass loaded 2-4 acre pond. We have cought 6lb+ bass from here and seen bigger. So I know there are big bass in there and I have fished my bluegill there for countless hours. I have had several hits over the months, and a few weeks ago I accualy had a hook up but lost it. Fourbizzle told me to bend my hook back a little, which I did. The pond is stained/murky, deep part is around 5feet deep. The only structure is fallen trees, but their are alot of them. There is alot of surface alege and the bottom is muck/leaves. This pond has been basicly unfished for +10 years, so the fishing pressure is almost non-existant. Me and my friends are the only people who fish it reguarly exept for some beer-can-littering guy that doesnt know the difference between a bass and a mackerel. (lol) We have been catching loads of 4+lb bass on jigs (one yesterday) and other lures, so I'm kinda wondering why I havn't gotten one on my mattlures yet. I fish it the intire pond with it close to the surface, probaly 1-2 feet below. I run it as slow as I can and streight retrieve it. What am I doing wrong? How should I run it? Should I fish it deeper? Any help would be awsome. Thanks a ton Matt PS My friend is intrested in getting a ML Baby Bass. It weighs 1.3oz, do you think he could throw it on a 6'6" meduim-heavy? (rated for 1oz)
  22. Same thing here. I put in a order on last friday and it came on wendsday. Thats like what, 4 bussines days? Yeah their site is having some tec problems and they are always late marking items out-of-stock, but as far as shipping goes they have always been good for me. And I don't mind if my 1000yrds of Hybrid is backordered as long as I get it for 7 bucks!
  23. Just becuase "maybe him and his girl are having a hard time" doesnt mean he should "hang out" with another woman. The message he sent her sounds like he wants to more than just hang out anyway. And if something is 1% inmoral then it is intirley inmoral. Something is 100% moral, or 100% NOT moral. No inbetweens.
  24. I made a bucktail jig by tying squirrel tail fur to a really light jig head with thread. It works great! I havn't used it much, but from what I hear they can kill cold water bass. I'd like to make more, but I've been having trouble finding fresh roadkills... :-/ I know some people think thats grose, but I think the natural blood stains really trigger the bass' feeding instinct. ;D
